OEH would not have started the Westwood hole without having obtained the required "fit for purpose" certificate. If they had done so MRT would have immediately closed it down.

You seem very coy about acknowledging the severe doglegs present in the hole. Just imagine the friction on the rods getting around them and the stress on the rods. It is not a question of a rig's capacity: no rig is happy drilling ahead in those conditions. I continue to urge you to read the detailed report on the Westwood drilling (I think it was even you who first supplied the link to it here).

I agree Hunt's version of the Empire fiasco would be interesting. No doubt it would differ considerably from Mal's (Mal didn't even seem to know whether he was in or out of Australia at the time - he has given conflicting accounts).
