There was a piece on CNBC interviewing Allen St. John from the WSJ talking about Barbaro and the incident. Forget the money a stallion could potentially make on the race track, if you got a good breed you can rake in the cash just breeding him with other females. A horse like Barbaro could easily make $10 million+. They'll be able to command top dollar, around $250,000 a time, of course by using artificial insemination.

Talking about the luck of the draw though, it's pretty rare to even have a horse breed from a KY Derby, et al, winner and have success.

I couldn't find an article on WSJ's webpage, but will check again later and tomorrows edition.
