Sometimes it's not so much the accident resulting from misread traffic...it can also be caused by the suddenness of changes in traffic flow. In the case of ALDW, I'm unable to get around exactly your note regarding ALDW's closing in---nearer, that is---to a good reentry point ($18). And we're not there yet so we wait for another drop of, perhaps, 75 cents or thereabouts.
If I get impatient I'll probably pay a 25 cent premium over my $18 but I won't do more than that. Otherwise I'm kidding myself by taking left pocket money and funneling it into the right side. At $18 we're paying $18 for the privilege of buying a $17 stock & receiving a dollar or so in a Q1 distribution. I've got to view this as a pregnant unit about to give birth to a part of a new unit. But make no mistake---we pay for it!
History will show that anything triggering a sudden drop to $18 or below could easily foment a more sweeping dynamic bringing units all the way back to $16. I've been stupid too many times and am wary now despite being horny for a renewed ALDW position.
