Most likely OT and old news, but does anyone believe that the highlighted below has anything to do with IDCC litigation? Just curious....
Nokia is finally building the Android phones you’ve been dreaming of

Finally? Too little too late? The smartphone market has never been as crowded as it is right now, but it will soon have one more new entrant that will be a familiar name to just about everyone in the developed (and developing) world: Nokia. When then-CEO Stephen Elop made the decision to adopt Windows Phone instead of Android, enthusiasts let out a collective sigh. Right up until Nokia sold off its devices business to Microsoft, they continued to wonder what might have been if Nokia had instead adopted Android.
And soon, it looks like we may finally find out.
DON’T MISS: Benchmark tests show Galaxy S6 performance crushes everything else on the market
BGR was one of the first sites in the world to check out Nokia’s new N1 tablet, an all aluminum Android device that launched in Asia last year. Since then, our mouths have been watering in anticipation of Nokia’s return to the smartphone market as well.
The terms of Nokia’s deal with Microsoft prevent Nokia from launching any cell phone models for a certain period of time. (Like litigation ending or settlement?) Once that aspect of the deal expires, however, it looks like Nokia will be ready and waiting to re-enter the phone business.
And now, we know some early details surrounding one of the first new smartphones Nokia will launch once.
As is the case with the Nokia N1 tablet, Nokia is currently working on developing smartphones powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop. Details surrounding one of these unreleased phones, which is currently referred to internally as the Nokia 1100, have been revealed.

Nokia fan blog NPU has uncovered benchmark test results on the Geekbench website. The tests reveal a, entry-level or mid-range Nokia smartphone running Lollipop powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT-6582 processor. Little else is known at this point, but the MT-6582 supports 720p displays, an 8-megapixel camera and 1080p video recording, so this certainly won’t be the flagship Android phone from Nokia that we’ve been waiting for.
But again, this is only one of several smartphones we understand Nokia is developing, and Android fans should prepare for some more great options to hit the market once Nokia is clear to start selling phones again.
