If they can get close to Mediatek in capabilities, I think they'll earn a chunk of MSS easily. The first 20-40% is a given.

I think that's the flaw in your thinking. Mediatek understands their very survival depends upon keeping Intel from establishing a beachhead in the low price segment..and will fight you tooth and nail for it. They pretty much built their whole business on producing very capable single-digit ASP chipsets...so you'll be fighting on very familiar turf for them.

and don't forget China Inc has made growing their semiconductor industry a long term priority..so they'll be looking to keep a substantial amount of the "low hanging fruit" for their domestic co's also..

it's going to be a long-term war of attrition imo...
