Zeev, Immigration stats show that new immigrants mirror our current demographics. It's not just the 20 to 40 years old that we need the most. The parents and and children are coming too. Immigration stats show also that immigrants in the last decade are coming to this country poorer and less educated. That will even poor more demand on our system. I think one most throw out everything we saw in the last century and start thinking "outside the box". Much has changed, and will continue to change - we have a whole new world ahead of us. What I see is the American culture being diluted in that our economy will shift more to the likes of the rest of the world versus the world catching up with us. Right now we are skimming off the best of globalization. The worst is yet to come as I see a big eventual downside foe Americans to a one world economy.
I'll do fine and you will do fine but I worry about the masses.
