As I know death and myocardial infarction aren't "side effects" these are efficacy, since Primary Outcome Measures: Composite endpoint of CV death, MI, stroke, coronary revascularization, and hospitalization for unstable angina. (Secondary Outcome Measures: Incidence of additional cardiovascular events, lipid and lipoprotein levels, subgroup analyses such as: diabetics, etc.)

The DMC has been more frequently examining interim reviews of the safety data (ie.: atrial fibrillation) from the study, however lack of safety issue does not equal with efficacy.
