i am relying a little on cypher's reports. looking at his/her posting history, she/he has better connections than most and is likely reflecting real insights. these are consistent with the culture clash notion.

difficult leap from a culture of deference to one in which respect has to be won through individual relationships, sensitivity and thoughtfulness. you are not going to hammer people with portable skills into submission. after a while, you are just going to find yourself managing submissive people who have nowhere else to go.
