Well i don't think you need to be an hispano to understand that to make exclusively compulsory one language is to spit in the face of the native who speaks another ..... like, duh - why else legislate such a thing .... why not leave it a 'by custom and practise' sort of affair? .... no legislation necessary or desired, consider that the nation of the Mother of Parliaments has never had a written spelled-out and legislated constitution, and seems to get by just fine, notwithstanding such impediment as her recalcitrant children on the left hand side of the Atlantic have presented her with from time to time ..... neither has she ever had a flag legislated, nor, ahem, an 'official' language ..... hardly a requirement, mah deah, for those secure in the possession of the real thing
