To the board:

Many of you have PMed me in the last few days asking for clarification of the no-spam policy here at IHub. Specifically, the issue was raised as to when repetitive posts become spam and get deleted. I took these concerns and questions to Matt for his opinion, the one that matters most here.

I have felt, and Matt agreed, that anyone can post a viewpoint once. If no one responds in a legitimate manner then the subject is deemed closed. Further attempts by the same poster to raise the question or issue would be considered spam and deleted. The key point here is that no one responds in a legitimate way. What does that mean?

Say for example that a poster opines that e.Digital will be out of business in a week. If someone responds to that post with reasons why that is absurd they have elevated that topic to the realm of reasonable discussion. Subsequent posts on the topic by the original poster will not be deleted because they are now supporting their original view. The absurdity of the view doesn't matter.

Now let's say that the same post about bankruptcy in a week is posted and there is no response at all or the only response is from someone saying "we've heard that before, knock it off". The original poster continues with the thread in spite of the fact that no one expressed a real interest in discussing the topic. That's spam. The subsequent posts will be deleted.

The only remaining question is how much time needs to go by before the issue can be raised again, once, by the original poster? That's the tough part. I suppose that's where my judgment comes in and Matt's review is necessary. Suffice to say that a sufficient amount of time should have passed that the prior discussion, or lack thereof, is forgotten by most on the board. To cite an example, we don't want to hear about the Jabra issue again. We've heard it, we've asked questions about it, we've moved on.

I hope that's clear. If you have questions please PM them to me or PM them to Matt if you have a free account. I think all accounts can PM to Matt. I don't want to start a lengthy thread on this board.
