Many years ago, after my father graduated from law school, he went to work for an insurance company. He quit after a while because he said he couldn't live with a job that was to do his best to rip people off.

Beyond that I have several of my own personal experiences in recent years... mainly a constant battle with my medical insurance to pay for medical expenses. The most recent was when my son cut his arm so severly that the ER physican called in a plastic surgeon. I didn't get to the hospital until the plastic surgeon was already sewing up his arm. The insurance only paid about half the bill saying they had discounted it. THe surgeon said he was not required to honor the "discount" since he was not on thier plan. My plan says I should only pay 80% for emergency care, yet they never paid that. I fought for over a year to get them to pay and finally paid the dang thing myself. Also, it took the insurance company six months to pay the ambulance bill... after I bugged and bugged and bugged them.
