Well it is only my opinion but since they are in the bio application field I think that will be their undoing.
Their product does work but it is not "special". When the FDA makes an approval one of the main things they consider is if the product is an improvement on an existing product.
You can have a medicine that is safe and works well but an existing product works better so the lack of improvement will not allow the FDA to approve the product.
So far I have yet to see amsilks proteins to be any improvement over products that exist in the field already. That is not to say they will not be in the future so there is always a chance to find a niche. I just do not see it happening.

KBLB may be able to produce fibers with spider silk strength and that would be an improvement over existing artificial tendons etc. That could allow an FDA approved product.

Amsilk has a chance to succeed but they need to come up with a better use for the product or they will never be able to earn back the millions they have spent on failed fiber research
