Everyone needs to know that Microsoft did no DD on hop-on before agreement was signed. Microsoft is trying to sign as many of these deals as they can. It is all money based. Receiving payments is their main goal. Whether hop-on produces these royalties or not is secondary. Here is an email from the author of the article that a Microsoft exec retweeted. This is the author that everyone quotes on here so if you believe the author for the good news you have to believe for the reality of the situation, this is in response to me asking Marry Jo what kind of DD Microsoft did on hop-on before the agreement :

Hi. In this case, all I can tell you is MS is trying to sign these kinds of Android patent agreements with as many Android OEMs/ODMs as they can. I don't think MS investigates whether the co. Is stable or not. This isn't a cross licensing agreement. It's simply the other company agreeing to pay MS a fee because MS has convinced them that Android infringes on certain publicly undisclosed patents owned by MS.
