So you are thinking again about trying to go mobile ala using a notebook / ipad or is this for the home use .

Not at all. I am so impressed with my iPhone I can hardly stand it. I use it all day long for a bunch of different uses. But from a trading standpoint, 95% of the time all I am doing is just checking to see where the market stands. The iPhone is king for this. It is fast, convenient, and with the finger expansion capability I can expand the chart to see the same detail if not better than on my home setup. I was on the road yday afternoon and just checked my phone about every 30 minutes, takes only seconds. I never feel away from the market now no matter what I am doing. I was setting on the deck last evening using my phone to read emails, read posts and answer from our board, and send messages to my friends. This phone is one of the most productive tools I have every seen. I don't know how to say this except if you don't have an iPhone you are missing out on a technology revolution that you will kick yourself one day when you do get one. My daughter told me that for 3 years, but I would not listen. You should go to the store and get one today. I am just so connected it is unbelievable. All it is going to cost you is about $100 for the phone and $30 a month for the data service. Just skip a starbucks once a week and it is almost paid for. Trust me on this. There is no one any tigher than me and this is the best $30 I will ever spend each month.

So far I have not used my iPhone to trade, but there is an app and I am sure it will work fine. I use it on my iPad all the time and in some ways it is better than the desktop application. Jaws trades with his phone all the time.

So why do I have an iPad? Because I bought it a year before my phone and at the time felt it was the better tool. I still use it all the time and often have it set up outside watching the market real time. When I am at home I will always grab it first because I do enjoy the bigger screen, but when I am mobile it is a pain because I have to get out my iPhone and set it up as a hot spot. I can use my phone and have the market already checked and put away before I can even get the hot spot turned on. I do love the pictures that my iPad takes, they are super. Also at the time I bought my iPad, the only window machines available were very expensive. If I was making the decision today, I doubt that I would be buy an iPad.

So why am I looking at a notebook/mini laptop Windows machine? Starting in July I am going to be doing some major traveling for the rest of the year. When I am away from home, I have to have to capabiliy to use Excel for my record keeping and use Flash with Stock Charts to update my charts. Apple produces do not work with Flash. Last summer I carried my 8 pound brick laptop and it was a major pain. So my new Windows mini machine will become my desktop computer in the evenings on the road.

I am actually paying $50 a month (minus a 15% dicount) for my data service that gives my 5GB of data a month and the ability to do the hot spot. I use it all the time when not at home. If I am somewhere like Starbucks I can use my own hotspot and know that I am secure. I am out of town this weekend and am currently using my iPhone hotspot to connect to the internet as there is no other good option. It is only connected at 4G, but is as fast as my home AT&T connection.

I just can't say enough about my iPhone. Wait till you see all the great apps that Apple has. We had a major storm this week during a Thunder game. I will standing there in the crowd not wanting to leave the arena because of the heavy rain and everybody around me was looking at my great radar map on my phone. Iknew exactly what was about to happen. So useful. No more pieces of paper in my pockets with notes, no more lists in my pocket, all in my phone.
