Yep. It was on ROKU.
There were three or four brand new Snap commercials on TV this weekend. Looks like they are making an advertising push.
Just another thing to keep in mind wrt the Roku Amazon rivalry, Amazon is increasing its yearly subscription rate to Amazon Prime by 20% beginning mid May. Investors like it, but subscribers do not. Subscribers pay the bills.
Look at the overall market. Several of the tech stocks simply followed the market down. As the market recovers I expect that stocks like SNAP and Twitter will as well. Good time to buy.
It appears that the metadata on that street photo includes January 2018 as the date of the photo.
If you do not hold Roku yet, you may not know about:
2018 ROKU INC. Annual Meeting of Stockholders
MEETING DATE: May 24, 2018
There is nothing controversial to be voted on.
1a. Election of Class I Director: Mai Fyfield
2. To ratify the selection of Deloitte & Touche LLP as our independent registered public accounting firm for our fiscal year ending December 31
My expectations will be a great earnings report as well, but in this day and age, that really doesn't guarantee a stock price increase (especially with all the shorters). The Amazon/Best Buy deal will only help Roku.
Just to speak to the first part of your statement, yes, the Republican Congress will support it.
Another hopeful sign for Roku investors today is that this is the first time in many weeks where Roku has bucked the DOW/NASDAQ downward trend as opposed to closely matching it whenever the market dropped. Many days the graphs would overlay pretty closely.
I'm not certain that mine is any better, but as of 1312 hrs. CDT I show $32.95. Up $1.23 today so far. As word filters out about the inadequacy of the Amazon product, I am confident that will go back much higher.
Not quite certain what you are asking. Real time is ticker PPS.
And just as Emily mentioned, "this eliminates Amazon as a competitive threat in Walmart (WMT), Costco (COST), Target (TGT), ETC, and Best Buy can still sell all other Roku TVs [which are better deals]..."
And you are correct, Insignia is junk AND Best Buy is still under the continuing threat of having their brick and mortar business lose money.
All the sales of ROKU that happened during Christmas are still there. Folks are not going to go running to Best Buy just to buy an inferior set to replace the one they just got. This is all a bad marketing ploy by Amazon to stunt the growth that ROKU had just begun.
It is still going to grow by leaps and bounds, but more patience is now required.
Here is a good perspective
"Roku Stock Rises After Needham Doubts Impact Of Amazon/Best Buy Deal -- MarketWatch
Shares of Roku Inc. (ROKU) are up 2.1% in premarket trading after Needham analyst Laura Martin questioned whether the company would be impacted much from Amazon.com Inc.'s plans to set Fire-equipped smart TVs at Best Buy Co. Inc. (BBY). News of Amazon's collaboration with Best Buy sent Roku shares tumbling in Wednesday's session. Because Amazon's partnership with Best Buy is exclusive, "this eliminates Amazon as a competitive threat in Walmart (WMT), Costco (COST), Target (TGT), etc, and Best Buy can still sell all other Roku TVs," wrote Needham's Martin. She also questioned the popularity of the TV brands Amazon is partnering with: "The Insignia brand has not held a top 13 TV market share in the past 10 years and the Toshiba brand fell from about 7.2% market share in 2011 to nearly zero in 2017." Martin rates Roku a buy with a $50 price target on the stock. Roku shares are down 39% so far this year, while the S&P 500 is up 1.3%.

Shareholder meeting coming MEETING DATE: May 24, 2018
Ok, I'll add one more thing. All of this is immediately verifiable.
The "new" Jammin' Java coffee looks very much like it is being made by NCR (National Coffee Roasters). It has been marketed as recently as March 21, 2018 at NAMA (National Automatic Marketing Association) along with other brands such as La COLOMBE. Brent Toevs is the VP of sales and one of their in-house brands is Jammin' Java. They use very similar packaging as the original and even use some of the same "ethically grown" marketing wording as that produced by Jammin' Java. They produce and sell Jammin' Java Rise and Grind (and many more) and some of the marketing uses the words below (direct quote from Amazon)
"About the product
• Jammin’ Java Kingston City Espresso Dark Roast uses 100% Arabica coffees blended to produce a complex flavor profile using Pacific and South American Arabica
• Dark Roasting exemplifies the chocolaty overtones that blend elegantly with the sweet flavors of vanilla
• Jammin’ Java uses Direct Trade to maintain a close relationship with the coffee producers and oversee quality standards"
Go here http://nationalcoffeeroasters.com/our-brands/jammin-java/
You don't have to keep repeating it, I simply asked you to tell me where the Jammin Jave coffee is coming from. Go ahead, you can have the last word. I'll stop now.
Please forgive me if I do not take the interpretation of Toevs words from a JAMN detractor.
That is not word for word how he was asked and that is not how he worded the answer.
No, unless you can prove another company made the coffee, you can't state your position as a fact. I can purchase Jammin' Java from JAMN. I can actually see the JAMN coffee on Toevs' Twitter feed and it is in the identical packaging that was used immediately after the Marley debacle.
I cannot purchase another coffee of the same name anywhere. So, what is it that Toevs is selling? If I get a chance, I will ask him.
So, here is some information that would be helpful to folks. If someone else has provided this I have not seen it.
On March 3, 2018 Chris Plant filed Form 15 with the SEC (commission file number 000-52161)
Form 15 is CERTIFICATION AND NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF REGISTRATION UNDER SECTION 12(g) OF
THE SECURITIES EXCHANGE ACT OF 1934 OR SUSPENSION OF DUTY TO FILE REPORTS
UNDER SECTIONS 13 AND 15(d) OF THE SECURITIES EXCHANGE ACT OF 1934.
Rule 12g-4(a)(1)states (Info from Cornell Law School Legal Information Institute)
§ 240.12g-4 Certifications of termination of registration under section 12(g).
(a) Termination of registration of a class of securities under section 12(g) of the Act ( 15 U.S.C. 78l(g)) shall take effect 90 days, or such shorter period as the Commission may determine, after the issuer certifies to the Commission on Form 15 ( § 249.323 of this chapter) that the class of securities is held of record by:
(1) Fewer than 300 persons, or in the case of a bank; a savings and loan holding company, as such term is defined in section 10 of the Home Owners' Loan Act ( 12 U.S.C. 1461); or a bank holding company, as such term is defined in section 2 of the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956 ( 12 U.S.C. 1841), 1,200 persons
SEC Form 15-12G releases companies of some of their reporting requirements under Sections 12(g), 12(h), 13 and 15(d) of the 1934 Securities Exchange Act. Companies may use this form if they plan to terminate a security class listing. SEC Form 15-12G may also help companies to be relieved of certain reporting requirements. When completing SEC Form 15-12G, issuers have the option for termination or suspension of reporting under the following: Rule 12g-4(a)(1), Rule 12g-4(a)(2), Rule 12h-3(b)(1)(i), Rule 12h-3(b)(1)(ii), Rule 15d-6 and Rule 15d-22(b). (From Investopedia)
So at a minimum, Plant is filing to suspend the duty to file SEC reports under this rule.
We're just going to have to disagree. It does appear to be the same and I would still like to see a link from the company that does provide the "Jammin' Java" to Toevs. Who is making the coffee he is distributing? The photos show that it is the same product created by JAMN.
Also, it was not clear that he said what you are interpreting. Again, we simply disagree on this point and each person can make up their mind on whose interpretation is more correct.
That really can be read several ways.
I guess everyone can parse and interpret as they prefer, but per his Twitter feed, the pictures he is showing of the coffee he is distributing are from JAMN, the company he used to be a part of.
The words "totally separate from JAMN" can be the literary technique of summarizing the original question [paraphrased here], 'are you affiliated with JAMN?' If he is simply selling their coffee, he is not affiliated with the main company. I'm just going by what his most recent Tweets show.
By the logic of your last statement, every store, coffeehouse, & online point of sale would be associated with the company whose coffee they distribute. No coffee distributor makes decisions for the company of the coffee they distribute (unless it is their coffee of course). Also, there is absolutely no evidence that another company is selling coffee under the Jammin' Java brand (apostrophe is the key here). If you can find such a link, please share. The photos on Toev's Twitter is the same coffee that was being distributed by Jammin' Java immediately after the Marley Family screwed the pooch.
Well, it does matter a bit. Taking a literal reading of the words you provided from him, he no longer has anything to do with the company represented by the symbol JAMN as a company official, but he could still be distributing the coffee by that company.
Now if the question to him was specifically, "Do you still distribute coffee from the company you previously led", and he said, "No", then that would be a bit more definitive.
OK. That works for me, but I am still confused about one thing. Which company is responsible for the Jammin' Java brand coffee he is distributing?
My error. I apologize. I thought I was responding to the person that posted the Twitter link to Jammin' Java (.0001 TRADER). I am truly sorry.
Then why did you send a link to a website that has absolutely nothing to do with Jammin' Java? Curious minds and all.......
Just curious why you posted an outdated Twitter page implying that Marley is still associated with Jammin'.
I was actually jesting about Brophtron and Warmachine because they would be the first to point out the bad info (tho I think WM since has.)
Possible, but if you go back to Toev's letter, he indicated that he would still has some affiliation with the company. Could that have changed since then? Possibly, but I haven't seen the info. Jammin' Java is still listed on the National Coffee distribution website.
Yeah, how can a fad like Facebook make its founder a billionaire and go for over $160.00 per share? Horrible business model, and with Snap's new revenue model it stands to move higher this month. That's just terrible.
And don't get me started on Twitter. It's been getting higher priced per share over the past year. I hate the money I've made on it.
I hate pet rocks too. They never did what I told them to do. It was so hard to go outside and find one that I just gave in and purchased them at the store. Besides, the ones at the stores came in pretty colors. Much better business model than letting folks go get the free ones that cover much of the planet and paint them themselves.
The only evidence is that it says on Amazon that the coffee company is Jammin' Java. I don't know whether or not the CEO has experience or if he was simply trying to expand from real estate. There's nothing wrong if that is what he did. And you could be correct about Toevs. Since he never fully stepped away from the company, he may have something going forward.
What is clear from my research so far is that Marley nor the Marley family business ever trademarked Jammin' Java in the US. Neither did Mother Parkers.
The Jammin' Java on Amazon is distributed by National Coffee distributors which also distributes Marley coffee and Mother Parkers products as separate entities.
If they know what's good for them anyway.
I had to put the model on the shelf for a while due to the Fed and the China trade volatility, but the new numbers are agreeing with your prediction.
When the earnings come out, 40 will be the low number.
Actually I found the link and it looks like this one has been abandoned many times going back to 1993.
It does show that Karn's filed for a similar trademark in 2016 without the apostrophe Jammin Java. They also filed in 2010. (Special Note: There is no claim to the exclusive right to the name as written)
There was a filing in 2003 Jammin' Java by a company that sold vitamins and mineral, nutritional and dietary supplements. It was cancelled in 2004.
There's another one for Jammin' Java Rise and Grind by Jammin' Java Corp that was abandoned in 2013.
There's another one in 2006 again by the same company Jammin' Java by Triarco Industries in New Jersey that sold vitamins that was cancelled in August of 2012.
There is an active Jammin' Java that is owned by BLDR, Inc. CORPORATION VIRGINIA G & S: Entertainment services in the nature of the provision of public and private musical and concert performances. They registered in 2007.
Then there is the abandoned Jammin' Java that was abandoned in 1997 for a mobile coffee vending service
in 1995 Jammin' Java was abandoned by Union Oil Company of California DBA Unocal CORPORATION CALIFORNIA that provided hot tea and coffee
I hope this helps settle whether or not one or more entities can use the name Jammin' Java.
It probably would be, but I never saw a link. I looked back to the post where you made the statement, but I never saw a link. Would you mind resending it?
Unfortunately, there is absolutely no concrete evidence to show that that information is legit. All the coffee sold on Amazon is listed under the company name Jammin' Java which has never been proven to be associated with Karn or the coffee shop (which is a legal legitimate name for the coffee shop and or the music venue of the same name.
If you have a link to the information in the trademark office it would be good to share.
If you want to get technical in the world of trademarks, Jammin Java is technically not the same as Jammin' Java.
I'm not saying they are still in business, I'm just saying there is more proof that they are than they are not. Is it a sucky business? That would appear to be the case.
I don't base my investment decisions on hearsay or inferences. In God We Trust, all others, bring data.
Does anyone know if the Jammin' Java name was sold?
The only coffee items (specifically called Jammin' Java) on Amazon are all by the same company called "Jammin' Java". There are quite a few new blends (expensive ones too) that Marley never sold.
Has anyone tried to purchase one?
Actually, charts can be manipulated (fed inaccurate data) or, as is usually the case, misinterpreted by folks wanting it to say something that happens to fall in line with what they want to believe. So you are right in that charts don't lie, but, then again, they don't actually "say" anything. You have to look at them.
Yeah, I'm really afraid I am going to have to start agreeing with those stating this is a scam. If I were ready to open a state of the art facility and made statements that it is in the final stages, I would be putting up photos every day.
Even if I didn't want to put out an actual address, I would be publicizing it every day. I'd put up interviews with the staff and show how well everything is coming together.
In addition, court cases are not scheduled at the last minute so I would say that he chose the 4/20 date after he knew that wouldn't be possible and it would give him a good "excuse" for a postponement. There are just too many missteps if this is a legitimate business venture. Even if they are legit, it is not being run well enough to remain in business.
Then, hopefully, there will not be any impediments to opening their first shop on that day.
Thanks, I have already submitted a request simply to see if the presentation really ever happened.
I just checked. It is a huge number 1,000,000,000,000 x 0.
Yeah, it is a shame that now they won't be able to open the new business on 4/20 since they have to be in court on that day.
How (in)convenient is that?
Yes, but this is talking about potential speakers for this year, 2018. There is no evidence that he spoke at the one shown on the invitation April 2017. Everything about this guy seems to require the word "potential" not "this actually occurred".
Like the opening of the first clinic. "It would be extraordinary to open our 1st CBIS Pharmacy in Los Angeles on 4/20, have a Grand Opening Party, and join in the 4/20 celebrations with everyone!"
One thing I have found is a link to an "invitation" for Dabney to speak at the "2017 Global Health Catalyst Cancer Summit @ Harvard Medical School USA" The invitation is ostensibly at the behest of Dana-Farber / Harvard Cancer Center.
However, when you go to the 2017 Event Webpage there no mention of Darby as a key note speaker during the "Cannabis science versus Cancer and other Malignancies" session. In fact, there are no details of the 2017 conference although there are for the 2015 and 2016 conferences. A search for his name on the website came up empty, although other "keynote" speakers' names were found.
Here is the link to the "invitation".
https://cannabisscience.com/index.php/events/56-invitations/828-mr-dabney-s-ghc-invitation
This is just a curiosity. I have requested a link to any presentations given by Mr. Darby during that event. If I receive them I will attempt to post them.
