Pappy, Star........I don't want to muck up the board with personal minutiae, but if you guys still have the same email addy, I will try and update you about Rachel, faith, etal.
My furniture market starts today so I will be momentarily delayed trying to make a living and begging for business:)
Regards,
Chris
Ms. Star, Pappy.........hey you two crazy kids!
Well Star, misery does love company, so I am glad I have a compatriot who has been pimped badly by the market. Anyway, I have resigned myself to a period of prolonged agony capped by the inevitable return to socialism and general dumbassery that is the platform of one Barack Hussein Obama.
I think the deathknell for capitalism has been struck in this country capped by the bailout accompanied with the 'temporary' (yeah, right - Saul Alinsky Jr will permanize that)nationalization of the banking industry.
Over the past year I have had a deep renewal of my faith, and as such have decided that this country is mired in the muck of materialism and greed and generally turning completely away from God. I am reminded of the Old Testament books of Samuel when the people did the same and then clamored for a king. God gave them Saul. Check the Book, that didn't turn out so well. Guess what, the good ole US of A is about to get another Saul. Perhaps then will we finally take responsibility for our own actions, turn towards God, and if nothing else, reject the moral relativism that has so permeated every aspect of our society.
However, because of my faith, my family and my friends (which includes the two aforementioned people), I worry not about what the many tumultuous tomorrows bring.
Take care and I'll try and pop in a little more often.
Regards,
Chris
MSGI.....nice to see you. And I apologize for my earlier rants. Trust things are copacetic in your world.
Star.....your last post should be scribed in stone for milleniums to come. Perfectly stated, my conservative friend, perfectly stated.
BTW, if Kucinich is elected Prez, I will be moving to another country. Guaran...f'n...teed!
Star.....thru my wife, I can get 30 money market funds with SECU that pay 5.23%.
I don't think that will keep up with inflation, however. As far as the sub-prime debacle, who said everybody deserved to own a home anyway. There is a segment of our populice who need not own anything until they learn how to get out of the rain. And illegal aliens should be allowed less than that.
OK, I lied. Rant still on:)
Pappy, Star........I can handle a recession; it's the sorry state we find ourselves in currently that really yanks my bloomers. We are no longer a creator nation. Our political parties, president, and everyone else in any way connected to DC have screwed the pooch. The republicans have managed to lose all sensibilities thereby insuring that POS Hillary the keys to the White House.
Get ready for a tax increase that will choke a horse and the end to any capital gains advantage, ST or LT. They're going to tax those puppies like ordinary income.
Star, while gold may seem to really glitter at the moment; I have a sneaky suspicion that when enough people start buying it and the periperae, the price is going to slam shut on those folks.
And screw Alan Greenspan, too. I wonder why the little bastard didn't voice his opinions as vociferously when he was Fed Chairman as he does now. I really hate an armchair QB.
Have a nice day.
Rant off..............
Star, Pappy........you two are killing my buzz:)
FWIW, I opened a global trading acccount thru ETrade and transferred a lot of my funds into C$. I will continue to add any addtional money I have into that account as I am afraid you two crazy kids are right about the US.
shmolten......nice call
What a piece of $#8@ market.......
Good morning, Star.........I had a friend who was in China during the height of the SARS epidemic. At the time you will recall China not being very forthcoming about the number of sick folks or any other info for that matter. Eventually, both the CDC and WHO sent an entourage of people to investigate and the Chinese health minister then employed ambulances to drive around and hide the sickest patients from all the hospitals, effectively keeping them from being seen by anyone from the investigatory teams.
He was summarily executed for that little act of genius as well, but it never made the paper here. Sometime, I'll tell you a great story about al Queada sending a team to China to kidnap an Australian couple adopting a Chinese baby. Suffice it to say, there are certain upsides to Communism:)
LOL......it's almost time to start drinking.
Pappy......bout time you woke up:)
Starshine......I forgot to post this snippet, but I thought you may find it interesting........
The Senate bill also requires automakers to increase fuel economy to 35 miles per gallon, about a 40 percent increase over what cars, SUVs and small trucks are required to achieve now.
It requires a yearly increase of ethanol production to 36 billion gallons a year by 2022, a sevenfold increase from today. By 2015 half of the new vehicles offered to buyers - as many as 10 million - will have to be capable of running on 85 percent ethanol, biodiesel or some other alternative energy source.
FERTILIZER, LOTS OF FERTILIZER!!!
Star.....so, your ethics and morals prohibit you from dealing with our French friends to the north? Tres gauche:P
PS I am in total agreement that socialized medicine sucks......
Ms. Shine.......I would think that a savvy trader and intellectual market player like you would have a brokerage that allowed trading in foreign stocks:P
Seriously, it's something you may want to consider. Lots of good Canadian stocks out there that do not trade on the US exchange. I read that ETrade is going to allow global trading in July. I'm not sure who your broker is. Interactive brokers will allow Canadian stocks to be traded. And, if you have a brokerage that allows this, of course you want to buy and sell them in Canadian dollars.
But what do I know...........
PS.......Buying a Canadian stock listed as a pink sheet here ain't the same as buying the usual pinkie bullbleep, shove it up the shareholders arse, piece of festered feces that are normally floating in that cesspool.
Starshine....... Yep, I am indeed aware of the contract(s) with India. And if you're looking for some cheaper fertilizer stocks, here are two worthy of consideration.......
Migao, and Phoscan Chemical.
Let me know what you think.
Star, Pappy......as Andy used to tell Barney, "that's the way friends do one another". Seriously, a nice, spirited debate that did not denigrate into full blown muck and mire as so many do. Our political leaders, and much of the country could learn a lesson here.
Back to stocks.... Star, I know you frequent a board that has discussed fertilizer stocks. Let me just say that I have done research and know some folks who have done more research into this arena and this is going to be huge. For example, check the long term contracts being signed by AGU for uninterrupted fertilizer supply because of different governments racehorse quest to grow corn and other grain for both ethanol and other bio-diesel fuels. I say this with total sincerity, AGU could well return 40-50%/year for the next decade. And no, I ain't drinking corn squeezin's as I write this. I own 400 shares; I'm planning on buying at least 200 more. It's running right now like Brig's proverbial headless chicken. POT is another stock that merits serious consideration. I don't own that one yet; but I plan to in the near future.
And Pappy, if you run for Prez, you will get my vote:) Nobody else from either party right now is worthy of that. Screw 'em, feed 'em a fish head.
Star, Pappy........all right, an old fashioned throw down! First of all, let me say Dub finally drove me off of the reservation with his Illegal Immigrant Amnesty program, and he whizzed me off royally by vetoing the stem cell bill; but on Ira(Q):), I was and still am a big proponent of what he is doing.
Pappy, all I can tell you is there were WMD in Iraq and I know this because a member of my family worked for IAEA at the time. The big error in judgment made was advertising for weeks on end that we were going to invade; providing ample opportunity for the weapons to be moved into other safe havens, specifically Syria. But yeah, WMD were there, and lots of them............
Additionally the decision to invade Iraq was in part made to cut off terrorist funding with money diverted from that damn Oil for Food program. Quite simply, Saddam financed lots of global terrorism, Al Queda included, but you won't ever hear about that from Star's beloved liberal media. But, to be fair, on that matter, I was probably privy to more info than the media. They're still idiots, though.
Hillary makes me physically ill, but the bitch will be the next President, especially since Obama may well be her running mate. Quite frankly, Michael Moore could be the Democratic nominee and win.
Rant off..........
BTW, still heavily invested in uranium stocks and I bought some more AGU yesterday as well as a LT hold. Fertilizer and uranium; they go together like rum and Coke.
If you need me, I'll be at the bar with Brig..........
Hey Pappy........just checking in to see how things are going. BTW, you need to alert IHUB to some suspicious activities. I notice somebody is attaching Communist propoganda to the bottom of your posts:)
ETRADE...SOMPF trade execution..........FYI, I had a GTC (60day) sell on my sompf shares at .20/share and they just executed.
Dear old Broad:).........thanks for the CPO info. And, I can officially attest to growing old being a pain in the ass as I just tore the cartilage in my right knee Saturday afternoon and I am waiting for the OR appointment to have it scoped. It hurts like a mothe, er.......really bad.
Hey Starshine..........re fertilizers, here is an article you may be interested in.
Study: U.S. Near Tipping Point in Corn-Based Ethanol
WASHINGTON, May 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A major new study finds the United States is near the tipping point when it comes to corn-based ethanol production.
The study, conducted by the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development at Iowa State University (ISU), finds that U.S. retail food prices already have increased $14 billion annually. They could climb $20 billion annually if crude oil prices reach $65 to $70 per barrel and U.S. corn prices reach $4.42 per bushel, compared to $2 per bushel in mid-August 2006. At that crude oil price range, U.S. ethanol production could reach 30 billion gallons by 2012, consuming more than half of U.S. corn, wheat and coarse grains, and triggering higher meat and poultry prices for consumers, reduced meat and poultry production, and significant reductions in grain and meat exports.
"This study clearly shows that we are reaching a tipping point, and that over-reliance on corn-based ethanol to meet mandates would further drive up retail food prices, reduce domestic meat and poultry production, and erode our meat and grain export markets," said J. Patrick Boyle, president and chief executive officer of the American Meat Institute (AMI), one of the study sponsors.
The study indicates corn yield gains would be sufficient to moderate grain price increases if corn-based ethanol production peaks at 14 billion to 15 billion gallons annually by 2010 (10 percent of U.S. gasoline consumption), when existing ethanol plants and those already under construction come online. Under that scenario, corn prices peak at $3.43 per bushel in 2009 before leveling off at $3.16 per bushel by 2016.
As for cellulosic ethanol, the study finds that a subsidy of $270 per acre would be needed to encourage producers to convert to switchgrass on land capable of growing corn.
The study also finds that if the United States was producing 14.7 billion gallons of ethanol and experienced yield losses similar to what occurred during the 1988 drought, corn and soybean prices would increase to $4.75 and $8.50 per bushel, respectively, triggering a 60 percent decline in U.S. corn exports and corn stocks, and a 50 percent increase in feeding of U.S. wheat to livestock.
"In addition to diversifying our energy sources, biofuels offer U.S. agriculture a way to diversify its markets," according to Kendell Keith, president, National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA). "But this study clearly shows any supply disruptions in the United States or other major foreign grain-producing countries could trigger major ripple effects on multiple users of grain in the short run, including herd liquidations, higher grain processing costs and steep reductions in U.S. grain and meat exports."
The study projects the following if season-average corn prices over a 10- year period ending in 2016 increased to $4.42 per bushel (based upon $65-$70 per-barrel crude oil), compared to $2-per-bushel corn:
-- Pork: Production declines 9.2 percent. Production costs increase 6.8
percent. Retail prices increase 8.4 percent. Exports decline 21
percent, reversing 15 consecutive years of pork export growth.
-- Poultry: Broiler exports down 15 percent. Turkey exports fall 6
percent. Wholesale broiler prices increase 15 percent. Retail prices
increase 5 percent. Domestic consumption down 4 percent.
-- Beef: Retail prices increase 4 percent. Production down 1.6 percent.
Significantly, the study projects prices for distillers dried grains
with solubles will closely track corn, meaning price increases are
nearly as significant for beef and dairy as for hogs and poultry.
-- Corn: U.S. planted acreage increases 44 percent to 112.5 million
acres. Corn exports decline 63 percent.
-- Soybeans: Planted acres decrease from 75 million in 2006 to 57.3
million acres. Exports drop 33 percent.
-- Wheat: Plantings decline significantly to 42 million acres. Exports
decline to 483 million bushels.
The study also notes acres currently idled in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) could play a useful role in "alleviat(ing) some of the financial stress on livestock producers" (during the early years of rapid ethanol growth), as well as mitigate short-term disruptions in grain supplies.
Study funders include AMI, Grocery Manufacturers/Food Products Association, National Cattlemen's Beef Association, National Chicken Council, NGFA, National Pork Producers Council and National Turkey Federation.
The study is available at ISU's website at: www.card.iastate.edu/publ...x?id=1050.

BTW, I bought some ag stocks a couple of months ago in anticipation of the coming sector growth:) POT and MOS are the two I own.
I think you are onto something with your fertilizer plays. Not too shabby....... for a girl:P
Hey Ms. Shine......anatomy of an oxymorn........
University of Miami/Ethics Program....:P
ETrade users.......the cusip number for my shares was also changed to SOMPF this morning. However, ETrade did allow me to put them up for sale online. I will post to the board if the trade executes.
QUESTION FOR THE BOARD.......I currently have two lots of 32,000 shares apiece for SOMA identified only by cusip number in my E Trade account. The geniuses at ETrade tell me I must send $150 for a research report that will take ten days, and then they will tell me when I can start trading the stock.
Is this a standard procedure? I would appreciate any help or advice.
Best regards,
Designer
Pappy..........just blowing thru; busier than George Bush with a new Tinker Toy set.
If 63 is correct (and the odds favor it), you have plenty of time to make up for your losses.
See ya...................
Hey Pappy......that's why the monks invented beer:)
Art......I believe the discrepancy between the two numbers is because the suit lists trusts, jtten, jtwros, etc with one number.
Both my wife and I received summonses, but we are listed as a couple with one reference number.
Richard......524) Richard & ** Bilbrey
Tool Power.......Bancorp is the plaintiff, and the 1272 named are the defendants and in fact are being sued by Bancorp.
The SUMMONS states as follows:
You have been sued by the above-name Plaintiff, and you are directed to file a written answer to the attached Petition in the Court to the above-address within twenty (20) days after service of this Summons upon you exclusive of the day of service. Within the same time, a copy of your Answer must be delivered or mailed to the attorney for the Plaintiff. Unless you answer the Petition within the time stated, judgment will be rendered against you with costs of the action.
Just a thought......I bought my shares on 8/25/05 and 8/26/05 and I just made copies of my transaction history just in case ETrade can't remember and decides they were purchased after the TA notice.
Dear Solar Flare, email received, acknowledged and answered:)
Dear Ms Starbright.........good morning, fwiw, I sent you a quick email.................
Gotta scoot..........................
LOL, Pappy!.....I ain't sure; when I sober up, I'll check and see.
Pappy........Every day is beautiful:)
63..........I got in this one at $1.50. Here's hoping the flight is supersonic.
Pappy, Star.......let's see - anal-ists at CNBC, the Prez, and 63. Let us contemplate the triangulation for a moment. Ah yes, it appears the hypotenuse is infinitely greater in length than either of the two short sides, resulting in me going with 63 also.
Is there anyone out there besides me that thinks this just a skosh coincidental and orchestrated?
Bastards all..............
PS Have a nice day:)
Pepcid? How bout some Preparation H.......
Dear MMer's........
please be on the lookout for my ass; I seemed to have lost it minutes ago.
Starshine and Pappy sittin' in a tree..........
Good morning, you crazy kids. Busier than Michael Jackson in a day care center.
Starshine, you mentioned some uranium stocks, et al, - here are a few to ponder. FWIW, I own all of them.........
Denison Mines, Purepoint Uranium, Nuinsco Resources, SXR Uranium One...............
