YBTVA @ .20+ -- try $1.20+ with political advertising revenues and organizational streamlining / Young's cost cutting measures, not to mention corporate credit markets are easing up and interest rates are at historic lows, making the Kron sale more imminent than ever, IMHO.
FCC concerned at trend of pay-TV rate hikes
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Federal Communications Commission expressed concern as several cable companies discussed plans to raise their rates for next year, including Cablevision Systems Corp., which on Wednesday announced an average hike for cable TV service of 3.5 percent.
Cablevision noted that the price increase on video services falls below inflation and said it's also building a Wi-Fi network that its Internet subscribers will be able to use for free.
An FCC spokeswoman said the trend could hurt already-battered consumers.
"Over the last decade, average cable rates have more than doubled. And now cable companies are charging consumers more but consumers are receiving less," said spokeswoman Mary Diamond, referring to cable moving some analog channels to more expensive digital-only tiers.
"This is an unfortunate trend for families facing increasingly difficult economic times," Diamond said.
Her comments echoed a letter of complaint that Consumers Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports magazine, sent federal lawmakers on Wednesday.
Bethpage, N.Y.-based Cablevision prices for phone and Internet services won't change when the video rates rise. The company, which serves 4.7 million people in the New York metropolitan area, also said customers who buy three services packaged in a discounted bundle will not see a rate hike.
A candid rate increase announcement like the one Cablevision made Wednesday is unusual in the pay-TV industry, where most companies are reluctant to talk publicly about the details of price hikes.
Philadelphia-based Comcast Corp., the nation's largest cable company, plans to raise rates by an average 3.7 percent on customers who buy multiple services in a discounted bundle.
A corporate spokeswoman said she couldn't say what specific increase customers who subscribe only to cable TV will see because those rates are set on a regional level. But the company didn't dispute newspaper reports that Comcast told customers they would see increases around 6 percent.
Similarly, Time Warner Cable Inc. acknowledged it will raise rates next year but said specifics weren't available because they are determined on the regional level.
The Dayton Daily News in Ohio said last week that Time Warner Cable will raise rates by 10 to 12 percent for basic and expanded basic cable for customers in the Dayton area starting in November. Prices for bundles of services won't change.
A spokesman for Time Warner Cable said video service price increases don't show what most customers experience because 60 percent receive discounted bundles of services.
The New York-based company also said customers can lock their subscription price for two years through its Price Lock Guarantee program.
Cox Communications Inc., based in Atlanta, also said it plans to raise rates for 2009 but needs time to calculate the average increase.
New York-based Verizon Communications Inc. said it already raised rates by 12 percent in February on its FiOS TV Premier tier, the company's most popular video plan. It will revisit rates again in early 2009.
DirecTV Group Inc. in El Segundo, Calif. said it's too early to talk about 2009 rates.
Dish Network Corp., in Englewood, Colo., said it had no announcement to make. AT&T Inc., based in Dallas, declined to comment.
Charter Communications Inc. in St. Louis didn't immediately respond to questions about price hikes.

Consumers, fed up with cable rate hikes will switch to free OTA broadcast, IMO.
I am expecting some accumulation as we approach YBTVA Q3 Conference Call. 90,800 shares short also.
Moving up rather nicely.
None of this makes sense man. Just because Chris owns CTNO, does not mean he wants to use CTNO to raise capital. If anything, it looks good on his resume and helps Chris to get other deals outside of the CTNO realm. I am not a lawyer, nor an accountant, and this does not seem right to me that Chris should be able to do this without includng CTNO in his dealings. If Chris did not follow the law, with respect to not including United EcoEnergy Corp. and Ckrush Inc. under the CTNO umbrella, he will probably end up taking an extended Sabatical in Federal Prison anyways and CTNO will be a bust. But it is what it is. Without a PR or a Public Filing from Chris, our shares are only worth the paper they are printed on, nothing more, IMHO.
Thats my point, he has no intention of making any money off of CTNO. He is making his booty from his other deals. Maybe we are all part of his evil demented social experiment in turning his shoulder on his stakeholders. Respectfully IMO.
You got me, ask Chris because he obviously does not care about his stakeholders.
I doubt it.
I believe so, its called Ameritrade Apex I think you need a 100k balance OR an average of 5 trades a month for 3 months to get apex for free. Cheers!
" ETRADE...you can only enter two decimal points .00 "
With Sharebuilder you can also only enter only 2 decimal points .00 plus there is a large order surcharge with those crooks.
Try Ameritrade, you can enter as many decimal places you wish .0005 for example. I got 500 free trades, plus there are no large order surcharges. Good Luck!
Heh ;oD With the recent volume activity, the wall will be overrun easily.
Yes, hopefully the Q3 conference call will give us some more details on the status of the KRON sale.
Nice volume this morning.
When this gets to 000's Ill load up. ;oD
ETFC is on my radar.
$4.00, looks like someone is playing games IMO.

Digital broadcast TV is better than cable
I don't know what your cable TV bill is, but my last one was $90 for hi-def digital stations and "expanded cable," which didn't include HBO. That's way too much. I could have downgraded and killed some of cable’s digital channels services, but why settle for less?
Instead, I attached a Terk HDTa amplified, indoor antenna that I paid about $60 for and now get hi-def channels from all the major network affiliates, including Fox and PBS, in Washington DC, where I live. And thanks to digital, my local stations also broadcast standard-definition channels along with the hi-def channel.
A television station has 19.3 MBS total capability per channel. There is no consensus among broadcasters on the ideal bandwidth for hi-def. Some broadcasters believe 10 to 12 MBS is enough; others say as much as 16 MBS may be needed, according to Lynn Claudy, senior vice president of science and technology at the National Broadcasters Association in Washington.
What this means is that broadcasters have additional capacity to deliver standard-definition channels, with each standard channel using between 2 to 3 MBS and potentially less.
The local NBC affiliate has a high-definition channel, and two standard definition channels, one for weather and another sports. The ABC broadcaster, in addition to its high-definition channel, also has continuous weather on one channel and has another dedicated to TV shows from the 1960s through 1980s.
The PBS affiliate in this area may be the most aggressive with four digital channels: one hi-def and three standard definition channels. It's clearly ready for the Feb. 17 switch to digital.
These broadcasters are still experimenting and the programming on the standard-definition channels has a work-in-progress quality about it, but viewers may easily discover that digital television will deliver anywhere from three to five times the number of analog.
What's the reception quality? Unless there's a helicopter flying over my apartment, the digital hi-def broadcast are, in my view, better than cable. More vibrant. I can't explain why. Your mileage may vary.
Approximately 20 million households today rely on over-the-air broadcast for television. Another 15 million households use an antenna on some TVs, according to the broadcaster association. I doubt that this number is going to decline in this economic downturn and once people check out digital television, I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of people who rely on antennas goes up.

Yes actually I did, thanks. ROFL ;oD
I wrote a term paper in grad school a few years back where I invisioned CC would merger with Best Buy to stay afloat. My claims were dismissed at the time. I wonder what the reception would be now? lol
Like I said, I am willing to go down with the ship if so be it. In the remote possibility, we do make it across the atlantic, without hitting any iceburgs in the process, I will definately see you at the bank. Cheers! ;oD
I understand and agree with your findings Billiam_2. I, more than anyone wish this stock to trade in the dollars. However, without a 1040, or any other documents proving the link between CTNO and family in hand, we can only speculate. Unless Chris "Mans up" and starts submitting filings to the SEC or releases some juicy PR's, we have nothing.
Oh, I am certain there are other arguments against (or for) this stock, many of them stronger than mine (and yours). Neither of us have proved (or disproved) anything. Until Chris proves me wrong (or you right), my position (and your position) still stands...
I hope you are right, but I will not hold my breath.
Darn right im holding, I am willing to down with the SS Messalas if so be it. A simple "under construction" website would suffice. Chris's lack of communication is downright irritating. That is why I stand behind my belief he has no plans to develop CTNO. The broker dealer license is all Chris was after IMHO.
No scam, Chris is free do as he wishes. I agree there has been no pump here, I also do believe Chris was not behind the China Telco pump. However, I also believe Chris doen not wish to develop CTNO further. His broker dealer license gives him free reign. Like I said earlier, CTNO was set up as a matter of convienence for Chris. The broker dealer license is all that Chris needs and wanted from CTNO. We are Pawns and Chris is the King of his game and we are in Checkmate. IMHO.
How difficult is it to put up a simple wepbage?
If he was serious about running CTNO as many of you suggest, he would have at least established web presence, IMHO. Many of us wish for a treat, but I fear we have all been Tricked by Mr. Messalas.
Volume is ramping up, hold your hats folks!
I agree, YBTVA is way oversold.
Yes, a storm is brewing. I am buying YBTVA hand over fist!
Good volume today.
Thanks for all you do!
Why the name and share structure change? Why not.
Maybe Carlton is the name of his favorite pet Turtle or the name of his Drycleaners. Also with all of the dirt thrown up from the pumper with the fake Clayton Dunning/China telco merger its nice to do some spring cleaning.
Cost? Chris does this sort of thing for breakfast. Probably cost him lunch at the Olive Garden with the MM to list CTNO
Likewise, this is just my opinion and I know you will all disagree with it! ;oD
I have the sinking suspicion that the only 'companies' in 'Carlton Companies' is all of us fellow investors. IMO, Chris has neither the time, nor the inclination to manage the shell he has created. Making CTNO public and becoming a broker dealer was only done as a procedural matter. His broker dealer license gives Chris the freedom to do what he needs to do in other areas. I do not believe Chris will ever "manage" this shell...
How about YBTVA? Thanks!
Heroix Longitude Revenue Continues to Climb in Q3
Agentless monitoring software's low acquisition costs help fuel 60% increase over prior year as IT organizations respond to economic pressures
By BusinessWire BRAINTREE, Mass., BUSINESS WIRE -- Heroix, a leading provider of application performance and network monitoring software, today announced continued revenue growth from its Longitude(R) application and IT infrastructure monitoring software. Q3 Longitude revenue increased 60% over the same quarter last year, and Year to Date revenue for 2008 was up 45% over the first three quarters of 2007.
The notable third quarter results came on the heels of a record breaking second quarter, in which the agentless monitoring and reporting software racked up a 104% increase over Q2 of 2007. Heroix executives attribute the continued market penetration to Longitude's agentless architecture, which provides comprehensive application performance and network monitoring and reporting without the expense, complexity, system overhead, or management headache associated with agents running on every server.
"Longitude's lower acquisition costs, easier deployment, and quicker time to value have increasingly become competitive advantages as IT organizations tighten their belts," said Heroix President Rick Lane, referring to recent reports of companies trimming IT employment in response to worsening economic conditions (U.S. IT Jobs Dip 2% As Downturn Hits, Information Week, October 3, 2008). "Companies know they can improve the bottom line with application performance monitoring and SLA reporting, but they are scrutinizing costs more carefully."
Longitude has been cited by numerous IT reviewers and publications for its technical excellence and ease of use. The software package was awarded "Best of the Tests" by Network World Magazine, and was named a finalist for awards from Windows IT Pro Magazine and Redmond Magazine. Redmond reviewer Rick Butler judged Longitude's installation to be "almost obscenely easy ... With many utilities, you'll have to spend time installing the tool and then rolling out the agents to manage your target population. With Longitude, you're done in about 10 minutes."
Heroix offers a 14-day free trial of Longitude as well as an online Flash demo. All Longitude packages are available now. Longitude may be purchased online at www.heroix.com/store . Please visit www.heroix.com or call 800-229-6500 or 781-848-1701 for Longitude pricing.
