The possible has morphed into the impossible. :)
Here's a chart of JNK, a junk bond ETF. Generally junk correlates well with the broad markets. What caught my eye is the Full Stoc. I'm not big on cycles but the Full Stoc bottoms appear to be on a 6 week schedule - the next bottom would be ~Oct 27.
Snoot, hope you're able to weather the hurricane w/o difficulty.
Re: DOW E-Wave Update
Looks like the DJIA will open above Godmode's 18392 target today.
another possibility...

3 white soldiers on the SPX daily?
Thanks for the suggestions - I have had to set it aside for a few days:

Thanks for the ideas, I tried a few things today but have had to set it aside, at least for a few days. I'm in the middle of getting financing for a house purchase and also about to leave town for the long weekend, both more important than poking a sick netbook! :)
Thanks again,
hiker
Thanks, but that's not what I was asking about - I know how to fix screens.
I'm wondering what else might be broken based on the symptoms I described. It might be helpful to re-read my post.
I own a Asus eee PC 1001p netbook. A week or so ago it was inadvertently dropped and when I opened it up there was a crack going across the screen. It also had problems booting up. So I’m now in the process of damage assessment – do I repair this unit or just use it for spare parts?
I opened up the unit and could not find any obvious damage beyond the screen. I removed the hard drive and using an external dock put it through a scan to fix any issues.
After putting the unit back together everything works fine with one really big exception – all processes are super slow. For example, it takes many minutes simply to boot up or shut down.
Based on these symptoms I would be grateful if anyone can tell me what else is wrong with this unit, particularly what parts might be damaged.
Many thanks,
hiker
There was no new high yesterday on $SPX.
Since that was day 5, McLaren's dip theory would say the top is in, no?

Bill McLaren posted an increasingly rare update, dated May 4.
Charts & analysis at:

Bill McLaren has evidently begun to publish occasional free reports independently of CNBC (who gave him the boot)
This one is for February 15 2011:

I came across this video
This is a long-winded infomercial for Stansbury's newsletter and is over an hour long. You can pause but you can't move forward and time remaining is not shown.
It strikes me as a person trying to herd viewers into buying his newsletter by describing the worst case (hyper) inflation scenario.
The scenario may be correct but I'll bet one could find more meat (and probably a lot less bias) by just searching Ihub for articles on inflation vs deflation scenarios.
TYX is at the top of its LT channel:

Bliss,
do you have a time frame for the last blue 4 on your chart?
TIA,

Wow, I'll bet you have a low heating bill!

Well, I hope you're still smiling. :)))
Before I go back to lurk mode I have to say that BT has a really good board with a lot of good contributors. I'm sure there are other lurkers who also appreciate all the good inputs.
Cheers,

That's an interesting chart.
There's a really striking drop in unemployment in going from Mississippi to Alabama that makes me take this one with a grain of salt. Maybe the Alabama data is older.
PMS Witch, that's a winner!
Downloaded and working sucessfully.
Thanks,

PS Thanks also to tc for the Macrium suggestion.
The backup on Win7 will do some things but it's fairly basic and I don't want to use it.
Acronis TI did everything I wanted, but for an XP box - the version I have won't run on Win7. The latest TI version seems like something to be wary of - if you want to see a lot of very dissatisfied users just read the reviews posted on Amazon. So my search for a replacement.
Thanks for your comments, maybe other readers will have some ideas too.
OK, I get that - Casper is great for cloning.
But I need backup software that will allow me to backup multiple drives onto the same external backup drive, space permitting. So I can't use Casper, and that's why I'm looking for recs for backup software.
Hmm... When I start a backup using Casper's trial version it says:
"Casper will copy Data (D:) to the drive. Any existing data on the destination drive will be lost."
So while Casper may not need any more space than what it is transferring that doesn't help if everything else on the drive is wiped out.
Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding something.
Hiker
I'm looking for backup software and I'm hoping that you or others on this board will be kind enough to make suggestions.
I realize that Casper has been recommended, but Casper requires as much space on the backup drive as is on the drive being backed up. That is, a 1T drive requires 1T of backup space regardless of whether all that space is used on the original drive. For various reasons I need a solution that only requires as much space on the backup drive as the data being backed up.
To this point I've used Acronis TI 10 but I recently switched to Windows 7 Home 64 bit - Acronis TI 10 doesn't work there and the reviews of Acronis 2010 on Win 7 have been mixed.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Buy the dip (on 11/12) for a run back to new highs (end of wave 3)...
Bliss, do you have a swag on a price target and a time target for the end of wave 3?
Thanks,
hiker
time for dinner! :)))
It would be interesting to see a chart like that for the Dow from 1928-1950, especially to see if there were bad signals near the tops of the rallies in the later 1930s.
ML's junk bond index has now been up for the last 6 days.
You're overlooking the exercise benefit on your arms from the increased weight and reps necessitated by beer.
Prolly a Bockenstein. :))
But seriously I too drink very little these days and if I have my druthers I'd have a dark European brew.
yuk. No offense, but brewed through a horse. I'll take Shiner Bock any day. :))
ML's junk bond index has been up 4 days in a row & reaching new highs, an interesting divergence with the market.
So what kind of email does a worked up monk send? :))
Perhaps we see a retrace this week followed by a bigger drop after the holiday.
There's positive seasonality this week (leading up to M-Day).
ajtj, do you have a take on when mortgage interest rates will bottom (or have they already)?
We're mulling a move either this year or next and are weighing now vs. then.
Thanks, and not just for this but for all the sharing you (and others) do on this board.

...could you tell me where July 3rd works out to be
another_indian, my models have it as a flat day.

aj, any take on DBA? Assuming SPX, et. al. are topping do you see DBA reversing, too?
