Tons of activity in the premarket. I feel like we'll come down for the morning, then come back up the rest of the day. I'd be happy with a close approaching 8.50
Yeah I've been enjoying these steps up, then holding the gains. Today elsewhere in the market I'm seeing some explosive increases. I'm wondering now if we're seeing something emerge.
The advantage we have is the new AG straight up said he won't interfere with MJ companies in compliance with the Cole Memo. That's more than we ever got with Sessions
Interesting day. Was slightly bullish in my whole portfolio, but CANN was definitely the star today.
I honestly don't know what to expect these days. The shutdown being over and Mitch McConnell telling Mike Pence there won't be another one certainly allows the confidence to return. The house is now entirely pro MJ, and douchebags like Pete Sessions can no longer stand in the way of legislation, so that would allow confidence to return as well.
But, I can't say if we're going to see a gradual return of the bulls or if days like this are a bit of a one off. All we can do is wait and see. Buy those dips.
Fun little action there at the end of the day. My whole portfolio was green, but CANN surprised me. I was expecting a slight green close, not 36%. Nice volume to back it up as well.
Signed it. Jan 1, Hemp is 100% legal
Good lord. Theres those butterflies in my belly again. Less than one hour
Over the years, you'd never have guessed that, after decades of stupidity, Hemp would be completely legalized one random day in December. You'd also never have guessed that 88% of Congress would have voted in favor of it.
Whatever we think of the current political climate, that farm bill was absolutely the kind of bipartisanship we can all get behind.
One random day in December, an entire new industry was created. The funny thing is, this part of the story will be kind of a footnote in history. Years from now, pretty much everyone but us will have forgotten the details, if they ever knew them to begin with. :D
Cheers to all!!!
Hemp is going to be legal in 2 days. The entire world is going to be different. There's a lot of money to be made. Might as well be us. :D
Well this may surprise you, but there's a lot of trading going on. So this period of sideways trading meant there was flipping and accumulating. Patiently I waited, as others, for that drop below $2, and it finally came.
No one cares
Side note here:

Happy Friday, gents. :D
Farm bill passed the house with an 88% yes vote.
Senate passed farm bill by 87-13 margin yesterday. The House might pass it today.
I haven't had butterflies in my stomach like this in a long time.
Even if it doesn't necessarily get finished by Dec 14, a few of the Democrats who will be seated in January have already expressed that the Farm Bill will be one of their top priorities. I don't suspect they'll have much of a problem passing it, because the Senate version was pretty good to begin with. I'm struggling to find a point of contention that can't be worked past like the current House and SNAP.
Congress goes into recess that day.
The MJ market needs something it can get behind. The pro-MJ house isnt seated yet and Sessions being fired only assures traders that there's less of a chance of Gov't meddling. IMO, that's not enough to flip us from a bear market to a bullish one so quickly. Though I think as an overall positive outlook continues, we could see steady climbs and an overall up trend as we approach January and afterward, when this backlog of MJ bills can finally move forward.
Jeff and Pete Sessions both being gone only means good news for us over the next year.
I was having a beer when the news hit. We were on track to have a 2x average volume day, and in the last hour went to 3.5x volume. Not too shabby at all.
Now the only question: Is this enough to bring the bulls out? The market seemed to feel better now that the democrats took the house, meaning that one half of Congress is now fully pro MJ. Sessions was an unexpected variable, so with the two combined, how will the week finish?
Cheers to all!
Totally. I'm still trying to get a grasp around just what mover the sector is getting excited about right now. Could be one thing, could be all of them. After today's trading, I'm a bit more confused than I was this morning. LOL
My whole portfolio went down at a certain point. One was up huge all day, then closed in the red. So today was certainly an interesting tree shake through the whole sector. Big volume across the board though.
CANN, given yesterday's trading, I would have expected a consolidation day today or at least not such a big gain as yesterday. But, closing near $4 is decent enough. It's well within what would have been normal, IMO.
At this point she'll be hard to predict. In 2016, we'd have like 2 green days a week, then 3 light red days.
Right now I think we're just seeing the bulls poking their heads out, so I'd expect similar stuff... big days, then some positioning
We touched 4.51 immediately. Even if we close below that (which it's WAAAAAY too early to tell), it'll be good for us. In a bull market CANN tends to hit a high, then dip down, then come back through the rest of the day. Given yesterday's trading, I wouldn't expect a new high, but you never know. I feel as if we're seeing the MJ market bulls returning, though they're playing it safe right now, which is fine.
We're in new territory here since we're getting a lot of excitement from the Hemp world and the overall change in the government stance on Hemp, CBD and related products. But my gut tells me we'll be anywhere from, say 3.80 to 4.80 for a bit until we have a better picture of what's going on with the Farm Bill. It's widely accepted that the Hemp legalization will be a part of the bill when it's voted on, but the hangup is SNAP benefits, and a lot of reps have drawn a line in the sand on that.
But, who knows. It could be that the recent activity we've been seeing isn't dependent on the farm bill at all, and has more to do with the DEA being expected to reschedule CBD, coke expressing interest, and the looming Canadian legalization.
Awesome. It's always a victory to take some for yourself. I'm sitting tight with most of my holding.
FO' THIRTY FIVE
Is it at $1 yet?
1 million shares. Not a bad trading day so far
The "left leaning" media has ignored hemp across the board for years now. More states have legalized hemp than MJ or MMJ, and these numbers have never gained any traction in the public opinion sphere, even from the non left leaning media. So the farm bill being plucked out of the entirety of the hemp legalization changes across the country and blaming only the left media is inaccurate. Overall, voters and consumers and reporters are just less concerned with hemp than they are with MJ. So, changes in MJ policy gain more attention on average than changes in hemp policy.
I love the volatility.
Sold some at $3.99, picking up more right now
In trading, there's what is known as a "portfolio." One's portfolio is their collection of stocks they own, which can be comprised of many different companies. A skilled trader will have a portfolio that includes a wide range of stocks, which in this sector, for example, might include both Canadian and American companies. To simply assume that the folks in here only have Cann and no others , or only American and not Canadian would be odd indeed. This is a CANN specific board, and so none of our discussions will cover what other stocks are in our portfolios.
That's certainly plausible. Thanks for throwing it out there, it hadn't crossed my mind
Great volume this morning
Yup. This is a big several months for us
Pro-Tip: These rushes are always speculation. ;)
Why because the market had a down day after a series of green days? Lol.
This is a very volatile market, and even in the midst of a speculative fury, we'll have red days thrown in the mix.
Because the market typically responds with a rush surrounding major changes in the law. With the Farm Bill expecting to fully legalize Hemp on Sept 30 (provided the bill passes before then and congress doesn't extend the current Farm Bill from 2014), we're seeing a bit of the anticipation and excitement right now, similar to the 2016 election season. Canada also goes fully legal in mid October, so we have two major changes in the law within a couple weeks of each other.
Even though CANN isn't a Hemp or Canadian company, she'll see the benefits from added market interest and capital because the sector more or less runs together. Changes to MJ laws not dealing with Hemp saw the hemp subsector run, even though the laws directly didn't impact them much. We can probably expect a similar result here, where MJ companies will benefit from the new Hemp market being created by the Farm Bill.
Gonna be a fun ride. It always is
It's a low floater that runs, more or less, with the rest of the sector. Right now we may be seeing anticipation of the farm bill passing and going info effect on Sept. 30, which legalizes hemp, then 2 weeks later Canada goes full legal across the board. Just in the last few days my entire MJ portfolio has been seeing increased prices and volume.
How's it going man. I was formerly Dirt Merchant during the last rush
Yup. I like these calm accumulating periods.
