Hi Doc, are you using cleartype fonts? I hear they are what you want to use with a LCD display. Go here to set it up. http://www.microsoft.com/typography/ClearTypeInfo.mspx
Hi all, I finally found some fuzzy logic spreadsheets to study. http://ceaspub.eas.asu.edu/PowerZone/FuzzyLogic/
Hi Aim Hier, I think that you were looking for information on excel web query. I found one of my old messages on it that has some good links. I still haven't tried it my self. http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=346661
The problem is likely to be the drivers for the new graphic card. Complain to the company, if they get enough complains they will rewrite the drivers. Also check their web site, see if they don't have drivers streamline just for your CPU. It could make a big different. Do the something for the game. I remember when AMD first came out with 3Dnow, Quake 2 ran poorly until AMD got some reworked drivers for the top graphic card which all the gamers were using. Then they were beating Intel computers.
Hi Aim Hier, if you can find a copy, this is a very good book to read on formula plans, Practical Formulas for Successful Investing by Lucile Tomlinson, she has some original research on constant ratio plans (now called re-balancing), and variable ratio plans. The constant dollar plan is a simple to operate variable ratio plan. But it has a problem, if you use it over several cycles it will shift more and more of the portfolio to the cash side, and not use it at the market lows. This is why the plan is not popular today. Her fix for this problem was to increase the constant dollar value every so often to equal the amount of money invested in the stock, she suggested doing this at the market low, that way you delay selling. She also talked about dollar cost averaging, and how it should be restarted after showing a 45% profit on money invested. She said it could also be combined with a constant ratio plan, the money would go to which ever side was low in value. I have always thought that Mr. Lichello must have read that book.
You said, If you traded a constant dollar plan with regular increments to portfolio control (say 0.75% a month), this is very much like Value Averaging by Edleson from his book (Value Averaging).
OT! supermarket "loyalty" (discount) "membership" cards! discount??? The last time I saw one of these cards used for a discount was with BILO out of Charleston SC in 1998. When I moved to Denton Texas, I signed up for both Kroger and Albertsons cards. They both started to jack up the regular price of items until the card price was what the regular price used to be. I think they find it easier to raise prices, while showing you that you are saving money by using the card! What a ripoff!
Hi Shawn, it looks like the answer may be yes. Go into your bios, on my motherboard in the Power management setup they have a resume on rtc alarm, that will startup the computer. I have never tried using it, so cannot tell you more about it.
Found this, it may be worth reading. Spyware: Is it clogging up your network? http://insight.zdnet.co.uk/communications/networks/0,39020427,39185934,00.htm
Hi Mr. Ed, which version of Adaware are you using, and what else are you using? Have you tried using the system spyware interrogator? http://www.spywaredata.com/index.php , or how about bazooka, http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/index.html
Just catching up! Before she installs the AOL 9.0 Security Edition make sure she uninstalls her old anti virus program!
sorry about that! I had a typo!
lost_cowboy@hotmail.com is the right one!
Hi Steve, I Got your web site to work sort of, I think you are using a java menu system. After getting several java viruses I uninstalled java.
I tried sending you a email requesting your demo spreadsheet I used this email mr_cassandra@yahoo.com, yahoo kicked the email back. You have to reactivate your email. Remember to check it at least once a month, or yahoo will disable it again.
If you could send a copy of MVP version 7.7.3 to lost_cowby@hotmail.com I would appreciate it.
I understand you are not offering investment advice and that version 7.7.3 is no longer in use.
Thank you.
To me it sounds like the battery. I have never owned a laptop. But a lot of electronic gear that use both ac and DC use the battery to filter the raw dc coming out of the ac/dc converter. So if the battery is going, you may be getting unfiltered dc to the motherboard. Have the battery tested, some rechargeable battery develop a memory, which keeps them from charging/discharging properly. Sometimes this can be fixed by discharging the battery completely, and then charging it completely, do this several times and you may be able to fix it. Again the place that tests the battery should be able to do this. You need to set up the electronics to do this so I would not do it myself. Sometimes you just have to get a new battery.
Hi I am sorry, due to all the adware programs that try to get into my computer through my web browser. I have had to severely restrict my browser. I am sorry your website will not work for me. The only thing I can see is the 39% on the site. All your web pages that explain how your system work are inaccessible to me.
If you feel like explaining your system here feel free to do so. We may spot something you missed that will help it work better.
Meanwhile feel free to explore my message board, I describe several simple systems. I have spreadsheets that you can download for several of them. The only spreadsheet that is protected is the HILOW investor spreadsheet. The reason is I may try to sell it at some time in the future.
Hi GR, try this page http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/alternate.html The one you want is http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/alternate.html#reader602full for windows. you want to save it first. do not try to open it. Once you have it downloaded, go to the folder that you downloaded it to, then click on it. to install it. this should work.
Hi Snaphook3, I did a search on my hard drive, I have the latest Spybot S&D 1.3, and I do not have that dll on my hard drive! Makes me wonder where you got your Spybot from? There are several web sites that say they have Spybot but instead have some other program! There is only one place to get Spybot S&D 1.3 and that is http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html I recommend you remove that Spybot, and re-download from this site.
Hi i23, the link was not complete for what ever reason. Link can be found here. http://channels.lockergnome.com/news/archives/2004/11/01.phtml look under News Updates for Tue Nov 16, 2004
Hi Aimhier, you could use the cash burn rate page on Tom's site for it. On Tom's site, click on the basic AIM link, the cash burn rate link is about half way down the page, or click here. http://www.aim-users.com/cashburn.htm The page is confusing, on the left hand side you have price from 100 to 20, and percentage loss. Don't worry about the price, just use the percentage loss. Example you think your stock could drop as much as 50% from the current price. Find the 50% line, follow it to the right across the paper, you will see 10%, 30% and 50% These are the SAFE settings, pick the one you want, then go straight up the page in that column at the top are the starting cash percentages. So if you have a 50/50 cash/stock starting ratio and a 10% SAFE you will run out of cash at about a 50% price loss.
I don't know, you could try.
yep thats it, looks like you had a little left over for some reason.
Hi Nocona whats up? Sorry to say I don't know where to find the info you want, but I thought I would show you a trick. How to display charts from stockcharts.com on investorshub. It is real easy. you use [chart ] to start and [/chart ] to stop a chart. I have put a space in there so you can see the commands, you would use no spaces. also when you copy the location of a chart, you normally get something like http://stockcharts .com, you have to remember to remove the http:// manually if you don't the chart will not display. ok ready for some fun. this is the URL you gave.
http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=$NASI,uu[l,a]daclyyay[db][p][vc60]<i&pref=G
do not use that one! it is not the one for the chart. what you do is bring the URL up in a separate browser window. put the mouse over the chart and right click and select properties, in the popup you will see a address URL, to make sure you get all of it, as they get very long. Put the mouse pointer over the address and right click and select (select all), that will highlight all of the address, then put the mouse pointer back over and right click, and select copy. Now you have what you need! Go to another web browser window and start a message. here is the URL we will be working with.
http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SharpChartv05.ServletDriver?chart=$nasi,uu[l,a]daclyyay[db][p][vc.... long puppy.
[chart ]http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SharpChartv05.ServletDriver?chart=$nasi,uu[l,a]daclyyay[db][p][vc.... ]
remove http://
[chart ]stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SharpChartv05.ServletDriver?chart=$nasi,uu[l,a]daclyyay[db][p][vc60]&r=2829[/chart ]
And when you remove the spaces it works!
&r=2175>
Some extra tid bits.
If you make a error like I just did just edit it.
Hi all, I have been away for a few days, but it looks like things here are ok.
OT I was Raped in 1968 and never got any help for it. Recently I went looking and found a good web site. http://www.malesurvivor.org/index.htm If you are a male survivor of sexual abuse or know of someone. Please send them to the web site. If you are a wife or companion of a guy who was sexually abused feel free to come also there is a section of the site for you also.
it is a false positive hit. Tell Spybot to ignore it. http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?showtopic=17159
Try pulling the little computer battery and then putting it back. It is on the motherboard. you will lose your settings, but it should come up with the default settings. I have a on-board graphic chip, and my half brother set my shared memory to zero. I had symptoms similar to yours. Fixed it by pulling the battery.

Hi Vaz, definitely try what 123 says. Also Windows XP says it needs at least a 300 MHz CPU.
Also go into the bios, and see if it has a boot anti virus setting, if so turn it off. As 123 was saying windows XP needs to change the boot track, and that setting may stop it. If you do get windows XP installed, then go back and turn the boot protection back on. If you are still having problems, it could be a problem with the hard drive. Go to the company that made the hard drive web site, a lot of them have diagnostic software to test the hard drive.
Hi LeViking, are you looking for AdFree 3.2? http://lucille.dhs.org/adfree.html
I read the faq. this program uses the hosts file. If you are using windows XP and you let the host file get to big you could get slowdowns and sometimes errors. So keep the list short, less than 400.
Hi Aim hier, I hear you I do. When I found ACK, now ACKHQ, it was at $15, dividend yield at 12%, sells growth at 25% a year, only had 50 mil in debt. But they had lost a class action suit for Asbestos. At the time it looked like they could pay the claims in four years. They also said that they had no plans of cutting the dividends. At that time I recommended it as a stock that could be AIM-able. After three payments at that high dividend yield the CEO retired, the dividend was stopped, they did not pay or renew the 50 million dollars of debt. This let them declare bankruptcy, while in bankruptcy they got the courts permission to sell off all the devisions that were making money, the number of claims against them skyrocketed. I am sure that by the time they come out of chapter 11 their will be nothing left to pay ether the claims or the shareholders.

Hi Mick, the formulas that I have here are mostly for long term investing, in a IRA or 401k. If you have any questions about the formulas feel free to ask.
Being that vxgn is a new company, its stock price is very volatile. I would not put any money that I could not lose in the stock.
Hi Mick, check the header, there are a few free ones there under anti virus.
Hi Susie, I remember you had a problem at your work where you thought people were web surfing after hours. You may want to try (enough is enough) what it is is a program that locks down the internet zone in IE 5 & 6. I don't know if this will work at your house. I think you said you had AOL.
https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/main.htm
Have you just about had it with sneaky spyware installations, pesky third-party cookies from pushy advertisers and marketers, and the unending blizzard of popups and popunders from web sites? Haven't you really had just about enough of these obnoxious, invasive practices that trash your computer and violate your privacy?
Then it's time you said, "Enough is Enough!"
Overview
Enough is Enough! is a lockdown utility for Internet Explorer 5 and 6. When you install Enough is Enough!, it will:
Lock down your Internet and Restricted sites zones with restrictive settings for dangerous options like ActiveX, Java, scripting, and a few others.
Severely restrict the use of cookies (but not completely disable them for trusted web sites or for single session use).
Disable several Advanced settings, including Install on Demand and Third-party Browser Extensions.
Install Microsoft's IE PowerTweaks WebZone Accessory, putting two new options on your IE Tools menu, with corresponding buttons on your Toolbar: "Add to Trusted Zone" and "Add to Restricted Zone."
With these new Internet Explorer settings you will be protected from the more dangerous elements of the web without having to worry about putting known nasties into your Restricted sites zone:
You'll be protected from rogue crapware installations (e.g., Gator, BonziBuddy, WebHancer, Lop.com, and the like).
You won't be accepting cookies from direct marketing outfits who seek to monitor and track your travels around the Net.
You'll put an end to annoying, useless popups at most web sites by default.
You'll put all web sites on a "short leash" until you trust them enough to add them to your Trusted sites zone.
In short, Internet Explorer will start behaving as YOU want it to behave, not as direct marketers and spyware pushers want it to behave. What you do with Enough is Enough! is enforce your very own "opt-in" policy: no web sites get to use permanent cookies, ActiveX, Java, JavaScript and other dangerous Internet Explorer options until you explicitly give them the go-ahead by putting those sites into your Trusted zone.
Caution!
A word of warning: the severely restrictive IE settings that Enough is Enough! uses will break many web sites until you add them to your Trusted sites zone. These settings will also disable third-party browser add-ons (commonly known as "plugins"). I did re-enable third party browser extensions, so the adobe plugin would work.
Keep in mind that you can always tweak IE's settings through the Internet Options box after installing Enough is Enough!
And of course, Enough is Enough! installs Microsoft's Power Tweaks WebZone Accessory so that you can quickly and conveniently add sites you visit frequently (and which require permanent cookies or certain types of active content) to the Trusted sites zones. Once you add a site that you trust to the Trusted sites zone, it should start working again.
See the section in the ReadMe titled "Coping with Problem Web Sites & Browser Add-ons" below for more advice on dealing with problem web sites and third-party browser add-ons.
More than Enough?
Enough is Enough! isn't for everyone. If you find broken web sites extremely frustrating, and taking the time to add web sites to your Trusted sites zone is too annoying for you to deal with, then Enough is Enough! might be "more than enough" for you -- it might be much too much.
There are several uninstallation options, so you're not stuck with Enough is Enough! by any means, should you decide that it's not for you (see the "Uninstallation" section in the ReadMe for more details).
Hi 123, Glad you told me about Softpedia looks like I will be going there a lot! If you click on the freeware display control, it shows you the latest freeware. Here is one I found System Spyware Interrogator 1.0.99. http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/10/17/10-17-201.shtml Looks like it is going to be a winner! Here is the home page. http://www.spywaredata.com/index.php Very complete, lots of good information under the Techs only section!
They would like you to run your adware remover program first and then run their program. They are looking for unknown programs. If they find strange files, they ask to upload the files to the web site to be dissected.
I believe it is mainly for IE, however SpywareBlaster does have settings for FireFox. I think they are cookie settings. Right now the main programing choice is activex which IE uses, but FireFox does not.
Hi Gottfried, that site lead me to this site. https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/ I have been to ehowes site before, lots of good information here.
Unfortunately, Americans don't seem inclined to punish them for their hypocrisy.
I thought we had been punishing them for the last four years! I am not sure Americans can take another four years of punishment!
Hi Cintrix, here is something that may be the problem. Right click on the desktop then select properties, select the screen saver tab, then under monitor power, click the power button. Then select the advance tab, under options remove the checkmark from (Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby)
As a side note, when I installed SP2, windows started this even thou I have only one user with no password, after about 30 days it stopped on its own. Strange.
Hi GR, colors bit depth, you should have your colors set to 24 bits or greater. Right click on desktop click on properties, then settings. you should be able to adjust them there. If you can not you probably need to reinstall your video drivers.
are you using any ad blocking software? there is probably a setting there.
Hi GR, so the media 9 Codec Installation Package for Windows Media Player 6.4 that you need would be this one. http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/6/1/461e47d9-bff9-4d3f-b97c-93476581f6ef/wmp6cdcs.exe Just download it, and then run it. That should fix the problem, if it is a media 9 codec problem. But it could be some other codec, on the web page do they say that you have to have some other software installed to see their stuff?
