EZEN: Bob or anyone, do you know what the tax loss cary forward is for this quater for EZEN? The 10Q isn't available on the SEC site yet, but I thought maybe one of you might have it on free real time? "TALLPAUL30" on RB is claiming it is 0.02....but I can't figure how he got that.
Actually, if you read the PR, you will see EZEN doesn't count last quarter's income tax benefit as "income from operations", but my limited knowledge of accounting causes me to think it should be counted in there:
From last night's PR: "...Income from operations increased 13% sequentially with $668 thousand in the first quarter of 2005, as compared to $592 thousand in the fourth quarter of 2004."
Then there's this from the 4Q04 PR:
"Net income for the fourth quarter of 2004 was approximately $1.2 million ($0.09 per share), as compared to net income of approximately $557,000 ($0.04) for the fourth quarter of 2003. In the fourth quarter of 2004, net income included an income tax benefit of approximately $608,000 ($0.04 per share),..."
roca EZEN is a value tech stock under $3 right now, but that may change tomorrow :)
BIPH: maybe some people ate putting 2 and 2 together:
From the 5/4/05 PR:
"Recent acquisitions by Biophan of additional MRI related technologies required additional work, but both parties are moving forward in good faith toward executing a definitive agreement and closing of the transaction."
From the 5/6/05 PR, it seams like some work is geting done:
"Biophan Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:BIPH - News), a developer of next-generation medical technology, has announced the filing of an SEC Form 8K/A report detailing its acquisition of technology innovators aMRIs and MR Comp, two German companies conducting research and development in advanced technologies involving Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Under the terms of the transaction, disclosed in the SEC Form 8K/A, Biophan acquired 51% of aMRIs GmbH, while aMRIs acquired 58.4% ownership of MR Comp GmbH."
EZEN is booshing into the close....and earnings have to be released by May 15th....I think the boosh shall continue past $3 after earnings.....not based on TA at all.
pal the players in CPTC learned the old lesson "play with fire and you might get burned". My post was a response to a post making an argument that BIPH resembled CPTC. I was pointing out what I see as distinguishing differences....that BIPH emerged from a fire.
I've watched CPTC for years, but never bought it because of some of those red flags I saw. On the other hand, I've held BIPH for a long time, because while I see a few yellow caution signs I haven't found any glaring red flags.
I was just trying to give people here a little foundation to know what they're playing with in BIPH.
E.P. tries to stick with higher quality issues to avoid those risks, so I feel the post was pertinent.
argyll,
I understand your perspective....and the dirt is always in the details....and sometimes those details are obscure.
I've dug into the details enough to know that BIPH emerged from an SEC investigation of their relationship with BSX. This happened through a string of SB-2 filings last year following the submission of a REGDEX. The fact they've been through that, yet MW continues his strong tenor about the deal, insiders aren't selling, and BIPH hasn't registered any more shares for SBI gives me confidence there's really something significant happening there…..and it should be happening relatively soon.
That being said, it was obvious many other's aren't so confident about BIPH's deal.....and if the 10k arrives before the announcement....that sentiment will be exacerbated again. But I also consider the fact the partner wants to protect competitive advantage and the fact MW purports the deal to spread across multiple products lines acceptable reasons for the procrastination of finalizing and announcing the deal.
Sorry for the harsh tenor of my previous post....I just wanted a little more of an explanation.
argyll Warren Buffet said "...fear comes from not knowing what you're doing".
Does this apply to you? ....or is it a weak attempt to confuse CPTC's preferred stock issues with BIPH. BIPH has no preffered shares, lawsuits, or subscription agreements?
"CTC's bankruptcy is motivated solely to resolve several litigation matters relating to claims demanding certain CTC stock for alleged services and performance under certain subscription agreements."
babycakes that's a big price to pay for a single technology (embolic filter) in a relatively small market. BIPH's technology has much greater reach than RMDC's...and BIPH says their first agreement stretches across several products in several markets....I would think BIPH could get a much bigger piece of the pie! It also seams like it could be very complicated defining terms for various products across various divisions, so I am patient with the expanded timeline.
Good luck!
OT: Lucky you! They'll be here 5/12....I hope to make it. I just noticed the video's in their photo archive the other day, they're fun:
http://www.mmw.net/av.jsp
Uninvisible is such a kewl groove......fun to watch their visual interpretation of it.
Is it my computer, or does that nugs site get bogged down easily? Hmmm?
Happy Holiday everyone! eom
EP, I'm probably still holding the same stocks as I last reported....mostly BIPH and some EZEN. Nothing else is striking me as too exciting right now.....and I don't have much cash to shop with anyway. I keep my money planted where it is because I think both of these stocks have their own unique and very diferent set of reasons why the could provide many booshes over the next year or so that could add up to order of magnitude increases in long term.
It would be great if a partner made an announcement sometime this week.....I don't want to have to watch all the senseless arguments that it isn't true.....but you know they'll try. Even if they could only disclose the equity pricing (assuming that's still a part of it), it would FINALLY put some of the issues to bed.
BIPH - I consider it significant merely because of the legal implications between saying something in a conference call vs. printing it in a PR and filing an 8K with the SEC.
The big question now is when will a partner allow the disclosure? BIPH has indicated they're not interested in exclusive licensing, so a partner is going to want all the lead time they can get to develop the product and get it approved. If BIPH granted someone exclusivity to something, then maybe we hear about it earlier?
The SEC 8k disclosure rules say significant agreements need to be announced within 4 days I believe? So does this little sentence at the end of a PR count for meeting that requirement? What about the partner? Could this deal be significant for BIPH, but insignificant for a partner? I could see where a reasonable argument could be made that even $30-$40 Million could be considered insignificant for a BSX or MDT.
So I'm not sure what to expect this week? Part of me believe BSX might issue a PR about something before their quarterly CC Tuesday @ 11....and the other part of me thinks we may not here any details for months...but maybe get some details about an equity investment or some vague terms of a development agreement.
cltr....nice read babycakes....noticing the run-up before some very good news. I would think there should be some good follow through on Monday.
MSGI that's fair enough, caution is always warranted because broader market trends to have bigger impacts down here. But that being said, when looking at specific stocks, you also have to see some great opportunities that arise in a bad market. I kick myself every day now for not buying TRLG last July when it was @ $0.80 because I didn't want to move funds from any other holdings while they were at their lows…or move from others that hadn’t reached my long term targets yet. I was looking into it very closely then....my wife even saw Justin Timberlake wearing them on the "E" Network....what a good sign for an $0.80 stock! But I didn't want to move funds….and I didn’t. Maybe some cash would have solved that problem? Lol!
I was mostly invested most of last year and was actually more in cash after the election than I was at any other point of the year...and while my portfolio chart shows a big long slump from May through September....I just held through it because I still liked everything I owned….and was happy to end the year with a 480% gain. That's the best year I've ever had....and hope to have more like that in the future. That being said, I am a pretty small investor, but it was nice to grow that much bigger last year.
As for long-term holdings, I've held BIPH from $0.40 in 11/03....and look forward to realizing some significant long-term gains from BIPH over the years.....and regardless of stock price....the story has only gotten better. I don't deny that it does warrant very diligent following until a deal is announced by a partner, but luckily the CEO has worked hard to communicate what he can to investors to keep us informed as possible. I have a pretty strong belief that he will eventually prove to all the doubters that his technical staff, his patents, his negotiating skills, and his PR efforts were all worth while.
Good luck to you! I hope you have a fantastic 2005 when you decide to come back into the water!
MSGI your sky has been falling for the past year, but last year it was because of the election. I guess if you stick with it, you'll eventually be right some day.
But seroiusly, you've been scared into cash since last spring, what fun is that?
Even in bad markets, there's still going to be emerging companies strong enough to defy the trend, they'll just be harder to find.
Good question about Squiggle manufacturung. They'd need some GMP certified faclities to do it in....don't believe either BIPH or New Scale are there yet?
That would require either of them to comply with all applicable FDA regulations governing medical device manufacturing, including premarket notification (510(k)), premarket approval (PMA), medical device reporting (MDR), device labeling, good manufacturing practices (GMPs), establishment registration, and device listing.
Dealing with being inspected in accordance with the Quality System regulation, Title 21, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 820, and labeling requirements of 21 CFR Part 801.
Even something so simple like repackaging, relabeling, or sterilization activities (including any associated processing operations; e.g., cleaning) are required to comply with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and device labeling requirements of the Federal regulations, 21 CFR Parts 820 and 801.
Yep....sound like a lot of fun.....you wouldn't catch me fighting with a partner to control manufacturing rights!!! Thanks....we'll take the 49% net when you're done!
OT: newtrade_dev,
Funny you said the "I don't think the EZEN chart looks good at all." when I said the chart was telling me to buy @ $1.90s. I guess we have different interpretations of the history there.
I don't buy based on charts too often....I analogize investing based on charts to driving looking in the rear view mirror. The quality of the company and value of the stock are what dictate a company's future....and dictate what direction the PPS will go....and how the chart will eventually look. I watch this board because EP has chosen to follow a few good companies and stocks from select sources.
Some of your posts on the RB BIPH board portray you as completely clueless and dependant upon others charting analysis. You might do better if you balance your all the chart reading with a little bit of fundamental analysis too.
Most asians are lactose intolerant:
http://www.personalmd.com/news/n0216063253.shtml
Is this company selling mostly soy milk? Are they removing the lactose from the product?
Just curious.....might be a market here for Lactaid Milk.....or IESV's methane digesters, lol! :)
Is SI down today? eom
I think EZEN might have gone for another pre-boosh dip today. Look at the 1-year chart....it always seams to have a good 10% shake-out right before booshing. They shook me out last time, but this time I'll take advantage of it.
After reading EZEN's last earnings PR I have no problem buying under $2, accept for lack of cash.
OT: EP I might be coming out to Vegas to work again? I've got an offer letter sitting on my coffee table.....I'm just a little hesistant to sign it and send it back. I've got a question about going out there you might be able to answer. If you don't mind, send me an e-mail:

How far can NWBT go with this kind of financing?
http://www.nwbio.com/press/04.26.04.htm
Catfish I hope you get better to enjoy your break.
I might be back to doing this full-time when my job ends on 4/1? Maybe it's no irony that that's also April Fools Day, lol? :)
I'm weighing a decision on weather to try this full time again, or to take an offer to go back to Las Vegas to work at the Nuclear proving ground again. On one hand, I feel like I'm getting too attached to my home life and too old for life on the road three weeks at a time.
On the other hand, I've got a little more cash to work with now than I did last year, so my goals wouldn't need to be so aggressive as last year. But I would still need to make upwards of 200% to replace my earned income.
Hmmm?
Poboy, I'm not superstitous, but the tickers beginig with an A have always been very cruel to me.
Bought ADVC @ $4.50, sold for $0.0045
Bought ACCR @ $2.80, sold @ $0.001
Bought ACCO @ $3.80, sold @ $0.05 or something ridiculuous.
wade! After all your DD on ALMI you didn't hang in there to reap the reward?
Keep your goals high....and reap the benefits of being an under achiever of your higher standards!
Stuki BIPH's really been on the push lately. I'm getting exhausted just trying to keep up with all the interviews MW has been doing in the past week, I can't imagine how exhausted he must be.
Then after reading this post on RB today, I resolved that I just need to chill-out and wait patiently....because this gives me confidence MW can be taken at his word that BIPH is under "non-disclosure" with several major medical device manufacturers:
http://ragingbull.lycos.com/mboard/boards.cgi?board=BIPH&read=38751
Sure I'm trusting some stranger on the internet; but his history seams convincing enough to me.
I think BIPH should get a nice rally when the partner announces their relationship with BIPH....the one MW says has completed a term-sheet that involves an equity investment that could "potentially" be above the market....and is in the contract phase now.
It's been a good ride so far....and I still think it could get a lot better when this "major medical device manufacturer" confirms it for all of Wall Street to see....which should convince the big money BIPH is for real....and reward thos of us that chose to trust this company early on.
EP, I got shook-out of EZEN too @ $0.97....and then that Microsoft news last week put a major piece of the "fundamental puzzle" together there IMO....so I took a look at my Yahoo! simpleton chart....and I can't read charts any better than I can read crystal balls, but I thought man this dip to $0.75 sure looks like that dip it took to $0.55 last August right before the boosh to $1+.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=EZEN.OB&t=1y&l=on&z=m&q=l&c=
Now I've never really believed all the folk-lure about MMs, but this has convinced me that MMs do sometimes get to know a little more than we do.....and use traders like pawns in their chess game.
With a P/E of 6, a double should be easy.....and a 5-bagger possible....eventually.
EZEN booshing on this news:
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050228/nem043_1.html
I hold a tiny little relic of MDF in my portfolio just so I can see some bright green in the portfolio....as a reminder of what patience can do with these value stocks.
BIPH: 20k on the bid @ $1.52...golly....glad I got more @ $1.47 this morning...even though increasing my position in BIPH to more than 60% of my IRA defied my rules.....maybe just maybe it was sthe smart thing to do?
What was it that Warren Buffet said? Something like "diversification is to avoid risk...and risk comes from not knowing what you're investing in"
Stuki I still believe it's a reference to BSX, but BSX probably doesn't want to be mentioned in BIPH's PRs for fear the retail investors like us would run BIPHs stock up....and potentially screw-up the negotiations for the pricing of a private placement.
As BIPH builds momentum here, I sure hope it doesn't blow past the stipulated pricing of the equity investment, only to cause the news to have a negative effect.
I'm not too worried about that at this point, but if BIPH moves beyong the average pricing of the SBI shares at $1.80 something....I think we could be getting close to the mark there?
Just a hunch, but I think MW is using that SBI agreement as leverage for pricing of any new equity investment.
Stuki at the current PPS, it's a higher stakes game for BIPH now, yet Friday afternoon my finger was twitching on the buy bottom to buy more BIPH that would have brought it up past 50% of my IRA....but I settled down and got some oxygen before I hit buy.
At these prices I realize not just "any deal" will launch BIPH's PPS up from here, but if what MW's been saying in SEC filings and interviews is true, then BIPH might still be able to deliver a big surprise to the market. I'm referring to the SEC filing language about "term sheet with Boston Scientific....for a combination of exclusive and non-exclusive licenses....for multiple products across multiple division". I've believed BIPH could be working with Boston Scientific's blockbuster products ever since last summer when BIPH began filing patents for everything from anti-antenna stents, guidewires, and cathedars to the photonic patents.
If the burden of evidence presented by MW proves truthful when evidenced in a formal agreement announced by a "major medical device" manufacturer.....we should be quite happy.
All JMHO. Hope all is well with you.
I might be back around here on 4/1....as that's when my contract ends and my project is scheduled to be completed....and I've got nothing else lined-up as of yet. I've rejected plenty of haz. waste consulting jobs as of late, but I'd rather try to succeed here at this before doing that again.
Take care! I hope we can celebrate BIPH sometime soon!
poboy: CPTC selling some power cable and is valued at $500M vs. BIPH saying the expect to close deals with two major medical device companies this year and valued at $100M. People obviously think MW is crying wolf....but with all the recent patent filings for to stents, guidewires, interventional MRI....and all this stuff right up Boston Scientific's alley....I think Biophan could be onto something bigger than most would imagine in thier current R&D with BSX.
Here's what I would do with $50k. I would put 20k on BIPH @ $1.30s, 20k on something much less speculative....or even value (ish) like EZEN, MMRK, DFNS, and maybe 10k on something like PSOL @ $0.25, 10k on BLLI @ $1.15ish, or 10k on PVCT under $1. Maybe mix-in a little EZEN here @ $0.85...point is...yes diversify.
I never did understand that CPTC, especially now that they're valued at more than their "big partner", GC?
One last thing, STOP paying costly commissions so you can be more nimble, efficient, and profitable. E-Trade....$9.99 if you make 5 trades a month...it works for me. I used to get killed on commissions too....there's no good reason to tolerate it. I once paid $0.03/share commission on a $0.025 stock......that was a very dumb move, even though the stock went to $0.20 shortly after....I didn't want to pay the broker another $5k to get out....so I transfered the security to E-Trade...but by the time it got to E-Trade it was back to $0.06 again...the price I had effectively paid to buy the POS in the first place.
Oh the lessons we learn in this game....I've learned quite a few....but as long as you're smart enough to learn from them...they become less frequent....and the good judgements more frequent....and you'll eventually prosper.
I think BIPH will get that power we're starving for when this "major medical device" manufacturer issues THEIR press release to THEIR INVESTORS about THEIR equity investment/development agreement/and licensing terms with BIPH.....then I think we may finally get that much anticipated broad market validation we've been starving for.
It's been a year since the last 18M share day, but based on that last paragraph of Thursday's PR, I think they'll get another one soon.

Bob: If you're going to buy poop, may I suggest EPG? IESV claims to have the most efficient proccess for recovering methane from dung, but they've got way too many shares for my liking.
On the other hand, EPG is alaready making money on manure, has far fewer shares, and just gave an insightful PR into their poop prospects. 2.5M shares sold in recent PP for $5.50 and current pice is $5.
BIPH filled out the change of address form today, just need to sent it to the post office. Read this last paragraph of today's PR:
In related news, Biophan announced that it had closed a term sheet with a major biomedical device company, but due to confidentiality agreements governing the transaction, will not be announcing details until the transaction closes. "We are very pleased with the transaction and its forward progress," said Mr. Weiner. "The agreement will be more than adequate to provide the capital needed to enable our listing on a major stock exchange. We are in the process of preparing our listing application."

Mr. Wadegarret....congratulations on ALMI.....hope you've held on to a sizeable chunck....looks like it's been quite a fun ride since you were pounding the table when it was at $0.15-$0.20 last year.
So tell me wade, what's next?
