In case you thought things couldn't get more weird....
Department of Health and Human Services assistant secretary for health Rachel Levine was sworn in on Tuesday as a four-star admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, becoming the first openly transgender person to serve as a four-star officer in any of the country's eight uniformed services.
With her new title, Levine will take on a leadership role in the public health service, a team of more than 6,000 people who respond to public health crises and natural disasters. The corps has helped support vaccinations during COVID-19 as well.
Levine is the first openly transgender four-star officer in the public health corps, or across the uniformed services of the military.
"I stand on the shoulders of those LGBTQ plus individuals who came before me, both those known and unknown," Levine said at her swearing in. "May this appointment today be the first of many more to come as we create a diverse and more inclusive future."

Pat Boone Loves His Osbourne Neighbors
By Stephen M. Silverman
Updated October 11, 2002 12:00 PM
The quintessential 1950s square, milk-and-cookies singer Pat Boone, is the best neighbor a person could ever have, so sayeth none other than Ozzy Osbourne.
As for Boone, the feeling was mutual, he tells the Associated Press.
“I’ve visited with Ozzy and Sharon, and nights when they had loud music playing, they never heard any complaints from me,” Boone, 68, tells the news service.
The “April Love” singer admits that having a rocker next door for three years initially left him worried, as he “expected to hear loud music coming from Ozzy’s house. It wasn’t him as much as it were his kids that were playing (loud) music, anyway.”
On the topic of music, Boone adds that he was surprised to hear his rendition of “Crazy Train” used as the theme song of “The Osbournes.” Oh, and by the way — he claims to have seen every episode.
As a neighbor, Boone says his “fondest memory … was riding bikes with Sharon through Beverly Hills on the sidewalks, and she’s towing Ozzy behind her in a wagon because (of his) balance problem.”

They were neighbors for three years until the Osbournes moved to a more "MTVish" home.
At one time, the Boones were next door neighbors to Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. They actually got along well. Ozzy tried to behave, Pat tried not to judge.
I ran across a post on another site that gave me pause...a "wow" moment, if you will.
First, a short cut and paste background as I'm not a student of this particular field.
"Laminins are high-molecular weight (~400 to ~900 kDa) proteins of the extracellular matrix. The laminins are an important and biologically active part of the basal lamina, influencing cell adhesion.
The laminin family of glycoproteins are an integral part of the structural scaffolding in almost every tissue of an organism.
Laminins critically contribute to cell attachment and differentiation, cell shape and movement, maintenance of tissue phenotype, and promotion of tissue survival."
Now, the good part...

That was a rather thought provoking post.

Hotel Clerk: “No.”
Dog: “Grrr, snarl, snap.”
Clouseau: “I thought you said your dog does not bite.”
Clerk: “That is not my dog“

This week, CNN released a photo taken by photographer Anil Prabhakar in the forest in Indonesia. The image shows an orangutan, currently under threat of extinction, stretching out his hand to help a geologist who fell into a mud pool during his search.
When the photographer uploaded the photo, he wrote this as a caption: “In a time when the concept of humanity dies, animals lead us to the principles of humanity.” 9/20/21
