Got it, thanks as always.
Dew- I have a small THLD position. I see they just did an offering at $3.62, about yesterday's closing price, so I'm fine with that.
The exercise price of the accompanying warrants is $10.86. Isn't this unusually high? If so, what do you read into it, if anything?
TIA.
I no longer have a position, but FWIW this is from a poster on another website:
I think CUR will be a good one; as usual, I'm just looking for a 15-20% gain and then I'm out. I don't try to hit homeruns, singles are fine.
As for AMRN, made a ton in 2011 playing their successful MARINE trial, been in and out small a few times since, but not a fan now. IMHO no way they're ever going to get accelerated approval for Vascepa, and I'd like to know how you've determined that institutions are adding shares. In fact, I believe they've been selling shares.
But since you realize it's a long shot, and sometimes they actually work out, I wish you the best of luck.
OT: I just read a Tweet saying that when everyone else thinks a stock is a turd, you should be buying.
Logically speaking, doesn't that mean you think you're smarter than everyone else?
CUR- After today's presentation at BIOCEO15, I'm very confident that $4+ is just around the corner (closed today @ $3.20, $3.30 AH.)
Topline data end of February or early March.

FDA Commissioner Hamburg Grappled With Global Challenges

All in all, Dr. Hamburg was a superb commissioner and public servant who improved the FDA in many ways. The country will be lucky to find a replacement like her.
Started 3 new mid-sized positions today: ECYT @ $5.09, THLD @ $3.59, and CUR @ $3.04.
Finally admitted defeat with KBIO and dumped for a loss. I tried to play it for a small bounce which never came.
Best of luck to all.
I gave up on it today.Sold it all for a sizable loss, moving on, will get it back elsewhere.
Best of luck.
Could be. They desperately need some good news.
OT: Been watching football a long time, and that pass was flat-out the dumbest play call I've ever seen.
That's always the question, of course.
Not a TA person myself, but I've never thought the idea of a gap that must be filled applies to bio's like this that drop because of a clinical trial fail. Oversold I'd agree with.
I'm looking at low-to-mid .50's sometime in February, at which point I'd be out for a 15-20% gain, good enough.
Best of luck.
All IMHO, just my two cents, etc., and I certainly don't mean to offend anyone here: I'm sure that the restaurants are good and their food is great, but I think that the IPO price is a tad high.
Therefore, I wouldn't be too upset because there's a decent chance that you're going to be able to buy lower. It might be for the best.
Good luck!
Re SHAK, from Twitter:
They own 1,746,591 shares, just part of about 27 million shares--or 74%-- held by institutions and mutual funds.
FWIW, I'm still holding.
HES- FWIW, did a bit of averaging-down @ $64.

Read his writing. Shake your head.
KBIO - Their director for clinical development in oncology presented this morning at PMWC15 about KB4000, their PHII drug being developed for the treatment of hematologic malignancies.
FWIW, I've been averaging down and I still think this is way undervalued.

10 Companies That Radically Transformed Their Businesses:

Re Dew's original post about the GE poster who doesn't seem to know what GE is really about: it would be interesting to survey average Americans, giving them the name of a widely-known company and asking what that company does. Many answers would be far from accurate.
Just as an example of changing times, a company I used to own, Walter Energy (NYSE:WLT)—a small coal producer/exporter—has gone from $140 a share in 2011 to $0.80 a share today, and most probably bankruptcy.
LOL. Maybe you're right!
EDIT: Just want to make sure that I wasn't misremembering (which happens a lot lately). 3M was originally a carborundum mining company; that didn't work out so they switched to sandpaper.
Similarly, many folks would say that 3M makes sandpaper.
I think that prices will eventually rise, but I couldn't give you a number or timeline. Some real experts on this board, perhaps they can.
I was looking to replace PBR in my long-term portfolio and HES seemed like a great candidate.
Best of luck.
High-quality and well-managed are his descriptors that mean the most to me. I'm very satisfied with my purchase price and plan to hold for a long time, I think it's going to be a good one.
