All good points. If someone beleives such then they have to look at the company/stock differently.
If all the comapny does is tell lies, then you must look at the stock data. All signs are ponting to something happening with the stock price. I for one will then place zero trust in anything the company produces in the way of a PR or product - as long as the price goes up. When Im happy, I'll sell out. If it goes belly up before then, I'll have a tax loss.
But then you cant tell much by what happens on any particular day (therein lies the advantage to the promoter, he knows when things will happen). We shouldnt be discussing Friday or Monday at all, but its all we have right now. So then I have to look at the 1, 3 and 6 month charts/volumes. Again, it is telling me something. Upward momentum is there.
I wont be so disrespectful as to tell you to just look at the signs (a: I know youre smarter than that and b: I dont want to sound like some other posters). The stock will go one way or another. But in the end most stocks go up and down anyway right. There are always 2 sides to a trade. Someone is buying because they think they can make money. It doesnt matter if a company is shoveling the BS or not. The trick is to get someone else to pay more in the future for your shares. Investors have no control over that pricing.
Bottom line is, regardless of who's analysis is correct, as long as it doesnt go belly up tomorrow, there is still money to be made in this stock.
And it certainly doesnt look like we're gonna have 4.1 million sellers today yet. So somebody's holding onto a lot of stock that was bought on Friday.
The people who bought on Friday probably dont need an explanation. My guess is that most were 'informed' of the coming promo, a buying spree ensued, and the price got a little ahead of itself. I have no worries that anyone who bought at 11 cents will be making money before 6 months is up.
The '1/3' sellers were probably not privy to any promo talk. IMO they just happened to buy in December and now was a good time to get out. They are probably just 'playing' the stock.
You are absolutly correct about the promoters not caring one iota about the investors. A promotion is done for the promoter and friends to make money, no one else. Like I said, tag along for the ride if you dare.
PS - if youve been a part of a promotion before then I shouldnt have to tell you that wild price swings are a large part of it and absolutly necessary for the promoter to do his job. They buy on the lows, promote, and then sell into the hysteria. But again, PTI's hasnt started yet. I think what we're seeing is just preliminary positioning.
Informed buying, illegal! What a concept. Someone tell the SEC quick. No wait, it was the SEC themselves who has put out several papers in the last 5 years estimating that up to 75% (yes, no kidding! 75%) of trading is insider trading. Hasher dont kid yourself on this concept. There are many informed buyers out there (no doubt some of them are friends of friends of LB as you have pointed out in the past). Informed buying is a main portion of running a promotion. I have read several books on stock promotion and they all say the same thing. The insiders make most of the money. Your job is to successfully tag along for a ride.
I'll try to post some book titles tomorrow and a outline of how a promotion is run (for those who dont know).
Sorry man, I disagree with you 100% this time.
(BTW, I dont believe for a second that the promotion has even started yet. Perhaps some 'word' going around about it but no buying, selling, or PR's yet. What we have seen so far is speculative buying, and profit taking on the sells. Remember, a ton of shares were bought up between 1 and 3 cents. And now they can sell those for double and triple. You bet there's profit taking going on.)
I saw a promotion run back in '99. The company's stock price went from 20 cents to $25.50, in 4 days! And they had little viable product either. Im tyrin to remember the name, will post if I do (Im kind of interested to see where they are now myself).
Here's to hopin'.
Wed. + 6%,
Thurs. + 13%,
Fri + 20%.
Nice run for the last 3 days. Up 44% on the week. 1, 3 and 6 month charts looks good, new buyers will see that.
What does the future hold:
The start of the promotion?
A groundbreaking news release?
Another phony PR?
Joey Jung disappears into a Bre-X mineshaft? (You Canucks will get that one:)
Tune in next week for another exciting episode of As The Battery Acid Burns.
$4500! Now we know who's making money off this company:)
Funny how that happens.
I dont think so. It was from The Investor Online issued Oct 26, 2001. It was posted on the old PTI website but the link is long since dead. I can send you a copy if you like.
Check the news, more properties, gotta move soon.
S'ok I know that. I have a analyst report that says $18 by end of 2006! 'Dare to dream Arnold, dare to dream.'
Keep the optimistic chin up.
What's an MP3 :) (I dont even acknowledge that type of garbage)
---------------------------------------------------------------
See thats where we differ. I prefer a sound that has realism, not 'warm and natural' (yeah right) sounds that someone else decided to shove down my throat. I have many copies of albums on both vinyl and CD, mostly I prefer the vinyl copy. Many sounds that can be heard on the record dont even show up on the CD. Why? Because someone has chosen to 'subdue' them (for lack of a better term).
CD's have their place. I have hundreds of them. Here's question you may be able to answer, since you brought it up. How do they get that distortion on the CD then? EG; I have 2 copies of Boston's 3rd Stage (one mine and my wife also had a copy when we met) on CD and BOTH are terribly distorted. Yet my vinyl copy of the same album is not. Also have a U2 CD that is distorted.
I would appreciate any reasoning you could have for that. Email me at seidi_test@hotmail.com so we dont get arraigned for being too off topic.
Some profit taking. Done now? Bid's moving up again. Will be nice to finish up for the 3rd day in a row.
LOL, I bow to your greatness oh black tied one. And of course very few will even understand the numbers you spew (I do). And Im sure you know what AAD stands for on the back of a CD. But thats ok, we can disagree. I have no intention of debating the subject further (the point was to be made elsewhere). In spite of anything you or I could say, there are factions out there that could endlessly prove either side wrong. In the meantime I still have a 15 year old turntable and a 5 year old CD player (both top notch) and on a good quality CD or record, you cant tell the difference. Gave up the equalizer 10 years ago.
PS: Ever listen to a old album that has been put onto CD? Lotsa noise eh? I know, it comes from the original recording. BUT, today's digital recording techniques have the ability to remove that noise, why dont they?
Been promoted to ethical commissioner?
I'll take your $5 target. Im fortunate enough to have gotten in very low (about .15). 5 bucks would make a nice retirement fund. (Cautiously optimistic yet though).
Did you end up buying in?
Good post.
'Has TVA already released enough promo to generate the new buyers we may have seen today?' Probably not.
'The initial market response to the TVA announcement was weak.' This is quite common on the lower level markets. It often takes a few days for the traders to catch up on the news.
'Hopefully, there are some PRs of substance to back up the TVA promos in the next week or so.' That would certainly drive it in a hurry. Was it hasher who said - 'Keep your finger on the trigger'? That's probably very accurate, especially if they dont have an actual product.
'The BIG question...' This will depend a lot on the greed factor. I have often said (sorry for the repetition:) they could easily 'pump' this stock up to .50 or $1 for no good reason. When(if?) will the bottom fall out is the answer we'd all like to know.
The world is full of products that shouldnt have made it. here's a couple of examples.
8-track vs Cassette - both use the same technology; 8-track holds twice as much data. Verdict? Cassettes made it big. Why? Probably due to their convenience factor (smaller size).
Beta vs VHS - Beta was by far the better technology but yet VHS won out. Most will state price as a factor but in the 60's and 70's they were comparably priced. Professionals chose to use Beta due to its quality, in spite of the price not coming down like VHS's did.
Vinyl vs CD's - Now as a prelude to this, and because I know there will be a lot of argument about this one, I will first tell you that I am an audiofile by nature and spent 5 years in the music business in the 80's just as CD's were coming out so I do know what Im talking about. Having said that - Vinyl is far superior to the CD. The most obvious reason being vinyl's ability to reproduce a wider range of frequency response. Noise level you say? A good turntable and a well recorded piece of vinyl will out perform a CD any day of the week. Durability? A well kept record will last forever, just as will a CD will, BUT, scratch a record and you lose a song. Scratch a CD and you lose the whole album!
All these products made it for different reasons. The PTI battery of less weight and lead has its place in the market, although I will agree it probably wont have the impact it may have had 5 years ago.
Hilarious!
Up 6% yesterday, up 13% today, I can handle that. When's the last time we saw 6 cents? Signs of life? I hope so. (but its probably just MM's making the close look good eh?)
...And PWTC doesnt put their poor performance on their website.
Show me a company that promotes their failures? Show me a promoter that works every time? You guys are reaching, again. Just wait and see, whatever happens, happens. (Gotta agree with the 'Brand name Awareness' part though. PTI is reaching there.) You dont suppose they actually have a battery hidden somewhere? Realistically, someone must have been working on something for the past 5 years(not necessarily through the interests of the company). Maybe ol Joey made some major breakthroughs and theyre ready to flog it to the world? Stranger things have happened.
"No one will ever need more than 64k of memory" - Bill Gates
Batteries will outdate other batteries, will outdate other batteries for years to come.
So what the heck does that mean? They call it a 'stock incentive plan' but then also give it an 'offering' price? Incentive plans have a strike price not an offering price. Is it an stock issue or share incentive? Dilution or reward? Even if it is dilution, the 1.5 million wont pay for the purchase of the properties they are looking at. Something's strange, no wonder the PPS is down.
Thank you for the kind words, I'll try to keep on with the unbiased perspective.(but Im still hopin for the best:)
Now thats a good answer.
Not meaning to pick on anyone in particular. All repetition serves no purpose and should be abolished, especially when its years old. I joined this board in Nov 2002 I believe and am still hearing the same theories, speculations and slamming. Seriously people, can you not even remember what you posted yesterday? Dont post it again today. Some are worse than others but there are a select few who are most noticable. Lets all give it a rest already.
Hasher has good all round knowledge. I can live with his scrutiny of the company, its the repetition we can all do without.
Get your facts straight. 750 million is authorized NOT outstanding. They had to raise it because they were coming up on their limit (yeah I know what youre going to say, dont go there). Many companies have high authorized limits.
What 'proof' is it you are seeing? Thousands of companies run stock promotions every year, for many reasons. It is a natural step in building up a company. It is also a matter of fact that at this point, if PTI is going to make a real run at being a real company, they need to raise cash, and 5 cents a share isnt going to do it. Yes, some promo's are legit and some arent and before you go posting all the same old all over again, I will agree that PTI's checkered past makes this alone look like just another PR. But remember, we are giving the new management the benefit of the doubt, right. If at the end of 2005 there is still no sign of a battery or anything resembling one, I will be the first to bail out, clam up and go away. With any luck, richer for it due to a promo. (I do whole heartedly agree with your comments that they certainly arent doing this to save the world anymore so we may as well be in it for the money eh)?
This move is not proof of anything, good or bad.
Could be just a promotion or there could be something else coming down the pipe. Companies quite often issue PR's in bulk, holding off on releases until it suits their purposes and can get the most out of them. Given PTI's past track record I share your concern, but who knows, maybe the time has come?
Good news it is, and earlier than the 45 days they had promised to update at. I notice they talk about paying cash this time as opposed to a share issue in the last PR. That would be nice but do they have the cash? Id hate to see more stock issued especially at this price. They would have to issue 5.8 billion shares to pay for this at current prices (I cant see the seller being happy with that). (Even at 10 cents they still issue 580 million.) I wonder why the stock price is still down? Should be nearer 5 cents by now.
Looks like a promotion to me. Whatever gets the price up.
Being in the stock market for 12 years, you'd think Id have a record contract by now. (s'ok, I cant spell rithim either:)
That sound you hear is my head banging on the desk. Some people never learn. The fat lady, she is a singin.
Sounds like peeps:)
Still think no one reads these boards?
I saw another instance occur that could prove someone is watching. A company I follow announced that they had hired NASA scientists to do some work for them. Same day someone posted 'OH great, now we've got rocket scientists working for us' (not sure if thats an exacy quote, but they did use the words Rocket Scientist). 2 days later the company releases another comment defending their hiring of 'Rocket Scientists'.
Hmm, someone is paying attention.
Ive seen that one. I have shares in a company that does business with them (HCCF). They must have really been backed into a corner to come forward like that. Consider they will probably spend years in court and possibly even jail.
Cant see LB ding anything so noble as admitting what he's done.
Wow, that was a fast run, I completely missed it. Back down to .05 again.
According to the level 2 quotes there are only 92500 shares between us an $2 - anybody wanna ante up? Im sure the rest of us will bail you out after we all sell.
I think its the lithium nickel thats the latest and greatest thing isnt it?
