CPA...re Snackies comparison...I think he is talking about the principle of breakeven...that Amazon for years delayed their breakeven status and the street valued them in regards to their revenue growth rather than the fact that they had failed to reach profitability....Therefore...I think that his post is actually comparing apples to apples
Sincerely,
Jas
Rachelelise...re revenue ramp up...Let me take it one step further...and I'm sure we have all run these figures through our heads...but it bears repeating and provides the newbies as to why we are Long on Wave....BTW...there is a country song out for the past year by the name of WAVE on WAVE...I kid you not.
2004...Number of TPMs deployed...10 million
...% activated for Waves services...10%
...Revenue from services not including lis.fees is between 20-30 million
2005...Number of TPMs deployed in PCs...100 million out 150
...% activated for Waves services...10%
...Revenue from services not including lis. fees...between 200-300 million dollars
Personally...I think that 10% activation is on the low side. One can argue whether or not there will in fact be 100 million TPMs in the market by 2005....I think that there is a very good chance of that taking place. If you were INTC or anyother large hardware company...do you want to wait for MSFT and run the risk of stagnant PC sales while everyone is waiting ...or do you create a REASON to buy new PCs/laptops NOW with similar features of Longhorn.
Now add to this level the potential cell phone market regarding the possibility of Lis. the Embassy OS
Everyone has done these calculations in their heads ...that I'm sure of. Now what if the METER reappears as a trojan horse...I can't remember who recently suggested that...but the thought did also cross the minds of some friends of mine. The trick has always been to get our operating system/applications into a device...the next 24 months will provide us with that opportunity. I'm convinced that we WILL succeed...and when we do...it will blow your socks off! Why one may ask am I so confident??? Has anyone re-visited the last few patents that we were granted lately??? While you are at it...take a gander at the patent that SSPX recently received. A few things to ponder on a slow night...The IP that Wave controls is ONE reason why I continue to accumulate additional shares.
Sincerely,
Jas
Mammon...re Jas's"Longs put down their pom-poms" post....I've got just one question...where did I lump all the Longs into one group? I thought I had made it clear I was talking about a subset of longs...If I'm mistaken regarding the content of my post...I would be more than happy to correct my error.
Sincerely,
Jas
Barge...There are those amongst us who have been in this stock for 6-8 years. They have held because of their faith in the vision that the technology could help create. They have also witnessed certain things occur that makes them cringe. You call me an apologist to those Longs who continue to bring up critical issues that shareholders should be aware of...what can be done about those concerns is another question. I admit that I'm guilty of being willing to hear the GOOD as well as the BAD. The simple fact that I have the number of shares that I do is testamony enough to the OVERALL job that I think SKS is doing at the helm of Wave Systems. Do I think that there is room for improvement...absolutely...but they are relatively minor in compared to the overall picture.
What I abhor is the group of investors who can't take a minute to put their pom-poms down and address the concerns addressed by these individuals WITHOUT resorting to calling them names...farts comes to mind. These Longs have EVERY right to be heard in the Wavoid community especially given the fact that a great number of them were members from the genesis of the Wavoid Community.
Each shareholder who has been with this company for a period greater than a year is still here because of their belief of where technology is headed and the value that Wave has to offer. Nothing is going to change that fact! Nothing is going to make me sell my shares at this moment in time...think about this...I'm friends with CPA/Blue...yet I'm not selling. If I'm not selling while still being friends with those two individuals...what are you and your friends afraid of?
Regarding my lack of sincerity...I'll allow the Wavoid community to be my judge...enough said.
Regarding Snackman...always sneering and hissing...are you serious? I would suggest that you review my posts from prior to 1/03 and see for yourself what my attitude was towards Snackman. Since then...I have had a difference of opinion regarding the role of a so called leader and the conduct that title requires. For example...If I had come out and claimed that the contents of a certain post were in error...and then others posted info that demonstrated that my post was in error...I would have submitted an apology to the poster whom I had claimed was in error. Something along those lines recently took place...but the silence was incredibly loud. You choose to ignore things like this....that's your choice.
Finally...regarding your comment about my steadfast loyalty to certain people who you described as being farts...You have no idea what I have been telling those individuals off line. I recently even drew the line with Blue...so I'm not sure I would agree with your description of my "loyalty".
Hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving.
Jas
Blue...re Doc Stone...the last time I checked...Doc was headed towards DRIV....that was years ago. Talking about a name from the past
Sincerely,
Jas
Good morning Blue....re CRN article...I think the article made mention of an alliance of companies which eventually formed the TCPA. As you know...TCPA morphed into what we know today as the TCG. Regarding your trip to LEE...for some reason...I also want to say it was in 1998...FWIW. Regarding delisting and OEM deals...As I recall...Steven had mentioned that we would have a deal with A OEM before the end of the year...(1997) It was announced in December...and it was with IBM! How could I remember that time so vivdly one may ask....because it was I who posted that info on the old Silicon Investor thread on that December day...before anyone knew about Snackman...or Barge...or any of the others. Dutchess/24601/Wahoograd/Wildman/purefolder/Weby/Marty Lee/sorry Waverider...I forget your old call sign/Countryboy/..... and believe it or not....CPA. These were the orignials...something to keep in mind the next time some on this thread decide to throw mud at their character. You see Barge...this COMMUNITY does not belong to Snackman...it belongs to the ENTIRE community of WAVOIDS. The history of the Wavoid community can be found on the Silicon Investor/Yahoo/Motley fool/Ragingbull...and now the investorshub. This is not Snackmans i-hub forum....nor was the RB thread Snackmans forum. Rather...it was a gathering place for the Wavoid Community....and that is how it SHOULD remain!
Sincerely,
Jas
Blue...re Waves past...With all due respect...old friend...I think you've made your point multiple times and your recent post simply piles on with absolutely no benefit to you as a contrubutor to this thread. If anything...some will minimize your contributions...which would be a sad mistake on their part. Friends can disagree...and regarding Waves future...I tend to disagree with some of your points...but that's ok
Sincerely,
Jas
Snackman...re Phoenix and Wave....With all due respect...Blue is absolutely correct regarding the events that took place as outlined by your two quotes. During the 1999 shm...Peter Sprague made the comment to a number of us that the PC OEMS just don't get it. This is not Blue's imagination....I was ALSO there!
Point two...re Phoenix...You know just as well as ANY investor who was present back then that the number one reason ( as stated on the threads) for the failed Phoenix/Wave relationship (at that time) was the internal difficulties that Phoenix was experiencing (financial as well as management turnover) Therefore...I'm not sure I understand your rebuke of Blue regarding this particular post.
Jas
Barge et al...re Magdalena...You folks do realize that she could be talking about her mother or even an individual who posts on this thread that she has strong feelings for...Give her a break!
Jas
Good morning Weby....I just finished reading a day and a half worth of posts after finishing an emergency open heart. All I can do is scratch my head... There seems to be a basic conflict in what it means to be a shareholder. One side believes in keeping a very close eye on how management runs our company whereas the other side believes that there is nothing that we can do outside of buying more shares or selling the ones we have. It's absolutely amazing how intelligent adults can act like my three year old daughter.
There has to be a balance between management accountability and allowing them to do their jobs in a fashion that rewards everyone concerned. Some of us forget that management has had to turn directions on a dime in this fast moving environment which have kept WAVX in the ball game. Others seem to forget that simply asking for accountability from management does not transform a LONG into a BASHER.
Hope you and your family have a GREAT Thanksgiving! Believe it or not...I think all of us Wavoids have a lot to be greatfull for at this moment in time.
Sincerely,
Jas
Snackman..."...You can say that with a straight face?" Snackman...I assume that is your attempt at humor...however...if you're serious then you have just questioned my integrity (sp). Obviously...you have your opinions and I have my own....the difference is that I know CPA and you do not. The same way I know you and he does not. BTW...where did CPA say that he bought PUTS....all I remember him doing was selling covered calls...something that a NUMBER of longs have done in the past.
Jas
Snackman...re Credibility...You have on numerous occasions attempted to question the credibility of CPA. As you know...I have known CPA for a number of years. Although I may not agree with his take on things...I have NO doubts about his desire to see Wave succeed. He has always looked at Wave through the vision provided by his occupation and has made certain judgements regarding management based on what he has seen. There is a HUGE difference between a BASHER and a LONG who wants to see the company succeed but also feels that management must be held accountable on certain issues. Once again...although I don't agree with him on a number of these issues...I respect where he is coming from. Your continued behavior of attempting to protray him as a basher or a manipulator is totally uncalled for...and furthermore is beneath an individual who is suppose to be the Dean of this thread.
Jas
Bingo...re Breakeven...I agree with you 100% and have said so in prior posts. When OUR business picks up...we WILL have to INCREASE our burn rate....this is GOOD news. The only problem with all this is that in less than 6-8 months...we will be doing another round of financing. For those who think that it is guaranteed that our share price WILL be higher than our current price....WHO KNOWS WHAT THE ECONOMIC/POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT WILL BE AT THAT TIME.
Sincerely,
Jas
Finallythere...re recent PP...Obviously you also understand that in return for the shares at $1.90...they knew well in advance that they could short against the box as well as the opportunity to purchase puts. Roughly2-3 weeks ago...someone purchased 750 puts for Nov. 2.50 at roughly 35-40 cents. A friend and I noticed that trade and wondered WHY anyone would take such a position with only 2-3 weeks left prior to their expiration....NOW WE KNOW THE ANSWER! They were aware of the upcoming financing. In short...they have made a killing so far.
Sincerely,
Jas
re SHM/Burn rate/ Break even....Folks...there are a couple of points that need to be discussed.
1) Burn Rate...One of the reasons why I was not thrilled with the recent financing deal was the small amount of cash that was raised. I attempted to explain that one of the reasons why I did not think it was a "great PP" was that it only provided us with enough capitalization to get us into Q3 of 2004....assuming that our burn rate remained the same...4.5-5 million/quarter. Folks...think about this point for a second...none of us want to see the burn rate stay at the same level...it would imply that buisness is NOT picking up. We WANT to see an increase in our burn rate over the next few quarters.
2) Break even...As our Burn Rate increases...it naturally would translate into higher revenues needing to be generated to reach the break even point. The more important point to keep in mind would be the rate of REVENUE GROWTH.
3) Market....From what I have learned from my friends who attended the meeting is that Wave WILL be a dominant player in this sector and that the market potential has NEVER been larger.
Sincerely,
Jas
AWK...re options...I believe today is the day that Nov. options expire. Therefore...if I had a large number of Puts...my profits would increase the further the share price declines today...that assumes that the puts have yet to be cashed in.
Sincerely,
Jas
Blue...re vacation from IHUB....Why on earth would you allow a few individuals dictate to you whether or not to participate in this community forum?
Sincerely,
Jas
Yukon...thanks for posting the e-mail from SKS. As I have said in the past...people underestimate and undervalue the relationships we have built over the past 5-7 years. People talk about competition...and believe me...we WILL see products that may compete with us head to head. However...what makes us different is the EXTENSIVE nature of our contacts...and I think that is an important point that SKS was addressing in his e-mail.
Sincerely,
Jas
Spin...FWIW...Not every "Old Timer" discounts what you are attempting to discuss. For the life of me...I can't figure out why everyone thinks getting another two quarters translates into a great pp. Does it get the job done...hopefully...was it a great PP at 1.90?...not in my book.
Sincerely,
Jas
Twinkie...re 2004 revenues... Yes...I think that NO revenues in 2004 is UNACCEPTABLE. However...if I was part of management...I would have to protect the company against the worst case situation....that's how I would be thinking.
Sincerely,
Jas
CPA...re numbers...Let me take a crack at your question...I would make sure that we had enough capital to get us into 2005 assuming that we generate NO significant revenue during 2004. We currently have a burn rate of 4.5-5 million/quarter. At the current rate...we will need another 20 million in addition to the 6 million that is in the bank. Obviously, there are a number of wildcards in play...Will we have a constant burn rate? Hopefully...we will see a steadily increasing burn rate. Will we in fact GENERATE significant revenue that will off set the above figure? Furthermore...SSPX shares could also appreciate significantly from these levels.
Sincerely,
Jas
24601...re WaveXpress...I'm not sure how anyone can justify deleting posts that are ON topic. One of the points being discussed recently dealt with the credibility of management...It is not important whether or not elements of a topic have been discussed in the past....if a topic comes up...then any element regarding that topic at hand is fair game and should be treated as such. Personally...I think that Management in the whole has done a very good job at navagating the changing waters of the past two years. Having said this...I would be rather stupid to ignore mistakes of the past.
Deletion of your post is CENSORSHIP for no reason.
Sincerely,
Jas
Bonnie...re share price and shipping....I think one of the reasons why we have become stuck in this range has to do with the uncertainty regarding the number of Intel MBs shipping this quarter. We have been offered very little guidance by either Wave or Intel regarding what the eventual deployment numbers will look like. We all can say that we are a critical component to Intels strategy regarding "trustworthy motherboards"....but until Intel comes out and proclaims to the world that they are shipping x number of Wave enabled mbs/ month....and/or are in fact increasing the number of mb variants that are wave enabled...the street will take a wait and see attitude before they jump in....imho
Sincerely,
Jas
Kevin...re article...Nice paragraph regarding Trusted computing!
Thanks
Jas
Good afternoon CPA...Obviously...I don't work in the security arena ...nor am I what people would consider an expert in the field. Having said this...from the outside looking in perspective...I can understand on a fundamental basis the need for the services offered by Wave. I can understand and appreciate that the market that Wave has been attempting to create has FINALLY arrived. It does not make any difference if you have the best product in the world...if the market does not exist. Now it's up to management to execute!
Sincerely,
Jas
CMF/Paul...I agree...There have been plenty of opportunities for Wave to unload larger amounts of their SSPX holdings into this recent rally. I called the company(SSPX) yesterday to see if I could find out any additional info regarding the identity of the lender. No luck....however...given the fact that they now control ~6% of the total outstanding shares...they will have to disclose their identity in an SEC filing. BTW...their shareholders meeting has been put off by nearly a month...which I still plan on attending.
Sincerely,
Jas
Kevin...re SSPX...given all the recent shares made available from Wave...aren't you surprised that SSPX has been able to hold onto most of its recent gains? Obviously, someone is buying all those shares. It will be interesting to follow their chart over the next couple of months as the govt. begins increasing their spending on security.
Sincerely,
Jas
CPA...re laser treatment...You can NOT compare the market potential of the laser (for cardiac therapy) to that of trusted computing....it's like comparing apples with oranges. Trust me on this one...I know a little about the heart. The segment of cardiac patients that this procedure would be used for is a small porportion of the cardiac segment.
Sincerely,
Jas
Good morning Blue...
Hope things are well with you and H. Things have been somewhat interesting out here for my parents and our hospital secondary to the recent fires....everything is ok now...thank god! Anyhow...I read one of your recent posts and thought I would throw my two cents into the discussion.
Wave has for the past 5-6 years fostered relationships with numerous companies who could have swallowed us without even flentching. These "false starts" have in essence built the infrastructure that we currently see...namely the Trusted Computing Group. Think about all the members that have contributed to this organization....MSFT/INTC/HP/RSA/IBM/etc...but you will also find little old Wave. We have been there from the start....very few companies can make that statement! Our importance can also be illustrated with the fact that we have been given the chairmanship of one of the groups within the TCG...an important committee if I say so myself. The relationships that have been forged through all the "false starts" is what is in part responsible for us being invited to the table. People can say that there are numerous companies that are gunning for what we have to offer....and of course this is true. However...and this is an important point...what VALUE does one place on relationships that have taken YEARS to foster and include nearly everyone of the heavyweights. Personally, I place a great deal of VALUE on this often overlooked and underappreciated aspect of all those "false starts".
What I'm looking for now are signs that we are dealing with the following issues:
1) Financing...be it through continued liquidation of our SSPX shares....to selling a portion of WaveXpress or Signonline...to possibly doing another secondary offering. We need to secure our balance sheets to ensure that we have enough capital to get us into 2005.
2) Deployment...We now have public acknowledgement that we are indeed playing with the big boys. Now we need to see execution! We have been told that Intel would be deploying in the fourth quarter....and apparently that is taking place as we speak. The question to be answered definitively by Intel is how committed are they and the TCG to the concept of Trustworthy Computing. The answer I'm looking for is in the NUMBERS of trusted MBs that Intel is able to place into the market.
3) Trusted Computing...We have seen two OEMS come out and take a stance...IBM and HP. We have been told on a number of occasions that by the end of the year...there will be around 6 OEMs that will be deploying TPMs in their products. This will be further vindication that the industry as a whole is committed to the concept of Trustworthy Computing.
4) Share price...At this point...it's almost a non-issue. If the industry truly is committed to this concept...then the share price will take care of itself in due time.
Sincerely,
Jas
Lucky...re TASR... A couple of points...
1) Their float is only 2 million shares.
2) Their market cap is roughly 150 million dolars.
3) The only similarity to Wavx is the fact that not too long ago..they were selling in the 3s...but that is besides the point given their small float.
Sincerely,
Jas
Good morning Zoomer...re HP...To be honest...todays PR is in essence similar to the IBM announcement (IMHO). Unfortunately, we don't have any numbers regarding the IBM clients to extrapolate to todays announcment. I believe that once numbers are released...either regarding downloading or deployed in the box...the share price will appreciate significantly from these levels.
Sincerely,
Jas
Vacationhouse...re Lee...You should have stopped...they have a great little Outlet shopping mall...been there a number of times.
Sincerely,
Jas
Yaya...re SSPX...FWIW...I agree with both you and CMF (Paul) If I was guarding our piggybank...I would take EVERY opportunity to build our war chest. The last thing we can afford is to be caught in a situation similar to what we found ourselves prior to the last round of financing.
Sincerely,
Jas
OT...John...you've got mail...I hope
Sincerely,
Jas
OT...24601/John...Did you get my e-mail...I've sent it twice over the past few days.
Sincerely,
Jas
Bonnie/Jeff....re Big Bro...You are 100% correct! The rules need to be followed...but that has to apply to EVERYONE! Otherwise...why have rules? This thread is not the domain of a few...but a gathering spot for the entire Wave Community. Unfortunately, some have forgotten that small point...IMHO
Sincerely,
Jas
Michael...re hiring talent....Could not agree with you more. Wave needs to place people in the position of authority that have a track record of success. This does not need to take place today..but as soon as they have the funds available to hire the right individual. Regarding your other points...you're talking to one of the individuals who apparently has been muzzled.
Sincerely,
Jas
OT John...24601...
Could you give me your e-mail address?
Sincerely,
Jas
Snackman...re post deletions...Please explain to me the rules once again.
Jas
Barge...With all due respect...My post was NOT directed to you. Furthermore...the reason I placed Unclever's name in the post was to acknowledge all the hard work Unclever has done for this community. I lobbed an easy question to Unclever...simply to give credit where credit belongs. For your info...I know what the anwer is and where I can find it...but that is besides the point. Unclever and Yaya know me well enough to know that I very rarely blow smoke...whether or not you believe it is not is not the issue.
Sincerely or not,
Jas
