marrcooooo your getting confused
Melvin is under one HELL of a lot of family stress right now. YES your right Melvin was saying too much about nothing but in his shoes I think a lot of us would have performed far less professionally.
I'm glad for him to be attending to more important matters. Melvin was here for a long time and in truth we likely haven't gota better "friend" than good old Uncle Melvie. He just has to learn he's an IR guy now and not just an investor. He can't go wading amongst the chat rooms playing a CMKX cop that's not his job.
Comparing Melvin with Roger I think your getting your wires crossed though.

jmrsage far from the only solution
$64000 Question is which one best fits the strategy for Roger and Urban. So many unknowns I was really calling on Gump's vast experience for an inkling of what MIGHT be going on.
Quite amazing the company has kept something so large so quiet for so long. In all honesty I expected it to get leaked out. In part I think it already has Melvin's Mt Saint Helen's analogy I have no doubt was partly correct but was vastly premature to all the restructuring so very difficult indeed to say whether that Melvinism still holds the same weight as when it was made public.
There is a clear cut strategy I have every confidence and September apparently (can't find it right now) was PR'ed to be the month of all the revelations to be made public.
So not bothered just steeling myself for another barrage of UC strategy theories which I'm sure we are all pretty well oversaturated on already but Gump's experience has not lead me far astray yet. The merger, the property expansion, the short squeeze all are interlocked and the common denominator I believe are deep pockets wishing to stay behind the scenes OUT of the limelight.
BTW jmrsage it's RichieBoy not Richiebuy I'm not a Neufie LOL!!!! ;)

Gump going on Urban's past performance...
I'm looking at the 800 billion A/S as a poison pill Urban could have been avoiding a hostile takeover.
Can he make another forward split like before? Specifically the 2 for 1 forward split last March I think it was... do you see this as an avenue for Urban again after all the mergering and property acquisition?
Does the idea of another forward split idea make sense after all this or can you see a more pragmatic solution? The 800 billion is putting the fear of God into everyone because the implications are unknown. Fear of the unknown the famous investors fire alarm. My thinking tells me there has to be a use for this record setting A/S and not just a good idea that came up at the bar one night. Roger chose this route not Urban I believe your right.
What does really frighten is that the company has chosen not to talk about it whether true or not they are uncharacteristically quiet right now and have been for weeks as you noted earlier. Holding shareholders in the dark is a 180 about face for management. If anything we couldn't put a plug in the flimsy PR's now they have gone to the other extreme. Is there no happy medium? LOL :)
Anyway your thoughts please Gump black ops drilling Waddup wit dat Bro? Koookie play this! Really enjoying your input here and yes SKY is very interesting nice find there thanks.

Spark don't get the wrong impression.
First objection if you do not like the word wrinkle is this PR is about a fictitious negotiator if it isn't then why is the negotiator's identity kept under wraps??? OK a missed opportunity about a great story how's that? :) My underlying SUSPICION and please very much IMHO is that some deep pockets MAY be pulling strings with baited hooks here. Seems no one thought that so I need to lay off on my caffiene intake possibly ;)
Secondly a rewritten or clarified PR has a lessened impact because the "story" is lost in translation. Meanwhile the clarifcation still does not disclose my first question WHO was this guy? So you see the story is already "old" before people can make sense of it hence the wrinkles...
Not a bash Spark but an observation easy big guy LOL excuseme while I compare notes and see the difference between the two PR's I'm getting old just thinking about it sniff :(
Not a bash Spark a longing for it to be done right for the greatest impact. A poster on another board wrote .... A successful stock is 90% promotion and 10% fact.
While I do not agree with his math I can wholeheartedly agree with his theory!

Another wrinkle UPDATED UCAD PR
http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/040831/315871_1.html
Comments on the UCAD PR
Someone knows how to finesse an agreement.
"We are extremely excited to have confirmation that all governmental and regulatory issues have been resolved and that the company is in good standing." Williams continued, "I am confident in the expertise of our joint operational partner here in Ecuador." Alejandro Diaz Silvia, geologist and operations manager for Nevada Minerals' Ecuadorian subsidiary, commented, "This further enhances the company's ability to increase its extraction and processing of gold ore from the Yellow River mine."
Someone has just pulled off a miracle is you ask me these "officials" have been holding up the works. If this were to continue now for GEMM in Brazil Wholy Hanna this thing will bust wide open! LOL My point is someone apparently has the midas touch with government officials here and it really looks good on them....but WHO?
What I find unfortunate is no names attached to the members of the management team who visited Ecuador. I'm wondering if Urban or even Roger Glenn were a part of this sure would like clarification on who the "members of the management team" ....were? Now UC or RG is a stretch but used to make my point because the successful negotiator to my mind is an unsung hero. Geez sounds like he should be enjoying cult status here and not this also ran mention. You have to project a respectful level of expertise ,cooperation and understanding with some excellent communication skills before you convince international government officials to give you a go ahead to mine. Some countries can be real sticklers for detail as far as I have read Ecuador is no exception. SOMEONE is indeed the skillful negotiator and deserves the rightful recognition for doing so IMHO because he appears here to be a collaborative superman I really hope he's on OUR side LOL!!!
Job well done & good news nonetheless! I'm liking it. Go UCAD!!! :)

Go Shore!
I'm continually amazed at the high percentage of quality whites coming from Star. I didn't realize so many could be keepers I'm quite impressed. It really is lifting the bar for the whole FALC. DeBeers has to be fidgeting IMHO. Bodes well folks extremely well.
So far UCA and KPG appear to be TRENDING sideways although both have spiked up very recently nothing earth shattering though I'm watching hawkishly Gump. Thanks Rocket appreciate the update here's a link to Rocket's post. http://tinyurl.com/3nxvb
I think the real thing to remember is Star is still in it's infancy and the 20 carat was a nice find but some maybe expecting that all the time which though possible I think is being quite over zealous. Shore curiously is selling off on this positive news and I think some are getting to high an expectation.
I'm not in Shore so as long as they get the go ahead to mine I really don't care how big THEIR diamonds are but of course wish them all the luck. Personally I'm convinced at this rate that Shore willl get the go ahead to mine Star it's just a gut feeling not a biased pump here hope I'm right but sure looking consistently positive here for Star. I agree with Gump if Shore gets the greenlight to mine Star we are going to get pulled up nicely. Bring it on Shore.

WIDAH WOAH NELLY HERE
You are going on a calculated risk Roger Glenn is here because he knows CMKX have something. Exploration is a gamble a calculated risk Urban has deemed worthwhile taking. You are suffering from lack of information and want to hear me agree with you that Roger "knows something" Roger knows he will be paid handsomely that is his first consideration. He knows if he wins the short squeeze he will likely go down in legal history. A nice perk but for me to go as far as to say Roger knows Urban has something of immense intrinsic value therefore he will win I cannot go that far.
Two reasons one I don't know Roger and I certainly don't pretend to know all that he is up to. For him to win the short squeeze on a might is right basis EG Roger will win against Shortie because we have XXX amount of dollars in intrinsic value will not satisfy the court. Roger needs to prove a NSS position and the larger a position of NSS he can prove the more chance he has of winning. Roger may have some rabbits in his hat not even Zen could have been expected to predict.
This is a tense time for longs but don't fall prey to deceiving yourself with flawed DD. I will go this far but I may be wrong ok? I believe Roger Glenn MAY have been made aware of the intrinsic value of Urban's property in as far as he needs to for him to make his case adequately but for you to believe Roger is here because he has seen the motherlode I think at least ...may be flawed and therfore disregarded. It's possible yes certainly but don't bet a penny on it for you could be mistaken IMHO.
As far as this article on the consolidation theory I read that the other night quite interesting and I have to say feasible quite a good CHANCE but don't bet the ranch!
That said it fits into the buy and build model of a Roll Up strategy this may be executed by Urban alone or he may have a silent partner.
Quite frankly I'm happier to just sitback and enjoy the theatre that is CMKX because it's equal probably will not happen in my lifetime. So many variables and so little to go by WIDAH why beat yourself up over it? I told you so Bragging Rights? Sorry I have other plays that are too important for me to entertain myself that way and whatever theorist is right if any it will not change what already has been put in place.
Fear of the UNKNOWN it is called RISK. An investor's double edge sword :)

OK here we go 5 minutes of Melvin
...on PalTalk that was never going to happen again. That waffling most surely as God made lightning has to be hurting this stock BIG TIME. More misinformation passed second hand like a contagious disease.
POOR decision making and unnecessary controversy more back pedalling. TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE behaviour for a man of his position I'm sorry I have heard enough out of Uncle Melvie I will wait for the company to speak.
This man is under unnatural duress and it's showing in spades. God Bless you Melvin but I warned you weeks ago this would happen PLEASE say what you have to say in a PR or ZIP IT I seriously suggest you consider taking some time off. PalTalk will be the death of your career you are compromising this company's reputation perhaps irreparably.

MY TAKE
I'm pretty tired of the unknown and my guess is everyone is anxious to see the air cleared about the share structure. This cannot happen until Roger has an air tight case against Shortie.
A lot of controversy has followed CMKX whether good or bad depending on whose camp your in. I think all can agree this has been the most controversial stock I have ever seen, very likely yours also.. The volume staggering the intrigue captivating the potential well that's a powderkeg of controversy.
With all the controversy there are bound to be fickle weak hands. I do not know what to make of this 800 BILLION A/S but the timing of that news wherever it's origin is remarkably coincidental considering CMKX was expected to commence the squeeze on Shortie at this time. True or half true toatally false I really cannot say and that has been the hallmark of this stock the unknown. It can propel this stock to great heights and vice versa it would not surprise me if CMKX brought down the entire FALC play which now is an industry unto itself.
If you did not know this was a lottery ticket when you bought you have my sympathies you certainly must be aware of that now. I find the PPS falling out of bed over the last few days due to several factors. The dividend qualifying date came due people locked in. Obviously the 800 Billion A/S TRUE or FALSE has shaken out the fickle weak hands as predicted as expected as usual. The Melvin factor good or bad he was very controversial and as far as PalTalk is concerned I say he made the right decision to stay off simply to much room for any IR officer to be misunderstood and worse stockholders acting upon that misinformation.
This is still a lottery ticket IMHO. The squeeze, the merger restructuring, the property, the drilling; so much to be learned and yet weak hands will continue to seek safe haven especially those who have not done their homework.
Frankly the theorizing of the UC strategy for me is now a turn off I simply have seen and heard so many arguments from so many sides yet NO ONE has any complete certainty if they are 100% correct. My mind is overloading it can only take in so many ideas before it says enough already let's talk chess or sports or woman something!!!
So the controversy will continue all I will be doing is sitting tight on ALL my shares until I hear it from the company in a PR. When is that I hear you ask yourself when we are good and ready I find myself answering ...NOT UNTIL!!!!

Gump
" And again I think there is somebody else behind the scenes here setting all of this up.
Foist I herd U say dat?!!! :) Well consider your statement supported I believe there is also someone else Roger is to busy with everything to pull strings such as your suggesting. I believe deeper pockets are behind this I'm very hopeful those deep pockets DON'T have short arms.
The AMEX well I consider that overly optimistic at this juncture until the short squeeze outcome is known. By no means do I believe Roger has it in the bag for shortie and I'm not bashing him either. It's just I have seen other companies treated and tarred by shortie's brush and they play hard with little respect of the umpire if you catch my drift.
As far as deep pockets I'd of considered my self passing through the pearly gates if it was BHP Billiton but don't count out Eira Thomas from Stornoway I see she was on the BOD of some small outfit on the FALC (can't find it right now) but point being she can raise coin where needed if she were to show an interest.
I agree Shore is very likely to JV with DeBeers (think you said that a few days ago) but the way they are going I'd love to see them stay independent and succeed in their own right on their own two feet that would surely speak volumes for the FALC. Well come to think of it Zen could still be right about Lundins but trouble is with so little credible info we could be mining on Mars soon and I HAVE NO DOUBT UC would most definitely be the front man there.....waaay out there on a Mars bar wrapper ;)
Sure be nice to get some CREDIBLE news any more BS will just shoot themselves in the foot at this sensitive stage hence the eerie uncustomary quiet in CMKX cyberspace. If Roger succeeds in caging Shortie then I owe the man a tall one.
Cheers....Rich
Zen I think that's a tad too optimistic
Mind you I'd love for you to prove me hopelessly wrong but common sense tells me they (DeBeers) are ready to snitch Star for a song now that all the hard work and gamble is paying off.

Rocket I could REALLY use some clarification here.
You slam the stock when it suits you yet you tell Jim Bishop to "stay tuned in" Then you argue with the bashers and in the next breath are back to slamming CMKX again with a chuckle to your other group that ought to "piss em off".
You touted SGF last spring DON"T say you didn't please then you were slamming it again until the 20 carat white turned up. Now it's your long lost daughter again? If you want people to follow your stock tips there needs to be some continuity here.
I asked you earlier tonight what has happened to your page and you ignore that so I repeat why can't I get into your page anymore please? There is a sense of urgency here Rocket please IM me on S.H. if it's too sensitive here.
Now Rocket fess up here it appears to me your jumping in and out of this like a jack in a box same as SGF whenever you can flip it. I know you ...DON'T say I do not I'm not in the mood for a barefaced lie all I want to know is where are you coming from please???

Muleyhawkins
Just ease up a bit there I was thinking you were a basher we have enough today I think you can agree.
Fact your moderators looked upon CMKX as a joke at first.
Fact this stock kept them on the air long after they would have vacationed if not for CMKX they would have nothing to talk about.
Fact your company put the squeeze on CMKX to pay up or shut up.
Fact your moderator REFUSES to read chatrooms Darryl (no I don't know where he is today) reads it for him.
Fact IBC never used to run HALF the commercials it does now. That pal is a sheer waste of my time and many others.
Fact I have been screened on the phone on NUMEROUS occassion while the show listens to canned music when no one else was on air.
For the above reasons I see IBC as a risk I don't wish to take. I quite like the concept but after listening to your moderator's boss the other day I was dumbfounded as to how such a completely arrogant pompous BAFOON can be in charge. He must be handy to a lot of money. I feel sorry for the D&D twins having to work for a joker like that they do try hard but I have been there to many times myself. I know why the show now is what it is and until Lou leaves I doubt it will change An extreme pitiful shame because Darryn and Darryl do put in a tremendous effort. Lou that's where the rubber meets the road muleyhawkins and I DO NOT consider his leadership skills adequate enough to carry the show.

markopolo I'm early to the DD table on this one
(DGM) DiaGem bought out Emerging Africa Group which originally acquired GEMM. Here is where my trail grows cold. If DGM owned GEMM why wasn't that PR'ed through DGM as well as CMKX when UC purchased progressively larger chunks of GEMM? Rather odd indeed.
KWG and SPQ definitely are mergering DGM is anticipated to fall in bed with this merger at some point. KWG and SPQ have found microdiamonds in Wawa Ontario more confusing they entered into a JV with (FWR) Freewest Resources on another project in the Mcfauld's project in James Bay. I think this so far is just a seperate venture I do not see a UC connection to date apart from GEMM and DGM participation in Juina.
Will let you know what I can find if anything but I think I'm barking up the wrong tree here thus far. As I say I'm early on in this DD but there are lots of diamond plays right now in Canada a little presumptuous to think UC has to be in on it IMHO

Thanks Chris good point.
My guess is mineral claims for Zinc and Uranium. Remember UC was quoted UCAD is going $18-$20 and also was heard to say "DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE" George Lake Zinc Deposit. That was the strongest finger waving I ever heard from UC.
Got a Bush joke for you Chris
George Bush decides to visit a preschool kindergarten and answer questions from the kids the war in Iraq has just officially been declared over.
Billy boldly thrusts up his hand and says President Bush I have three questions please sir! "ok go ahead please Billy" says Mr. Bush with a nervous grimace of apprehension on his face.
1.) Why did you bomb Iraq?
2.) Where are these Weapons of Mass Destruction you talked about?
3.) Why couldn't you find Osama Bin Laden?
Mr. Bush is suddenly interrupted as the alarm bell goes for recess and the kids are clearly disappointed but on his return Mr. Bush confidently asks the class again for questions and Joey urgently shoves up his hand President Bush President Bush!!! ..."Yes Joey how can I help you?"
Joey now clearly beaming ear to ear getting his chance says "Mr. Bush I have FIVE questions for you..." "OK go ahead please Joey"
1.) Why did you bomb Iraq?
2.) Where are these Weapons of Mass Destruction you talked about?
3.) Why couldn't you find Osama Bin Laden?
4.) How come the recess bell rang 20 minutes early today?
5.) Oh? and President Bush!! (big pause) ...where the hell is Billy !!!???

Amazing tonight DrillBit
I concur 100% with your last two posts something of an anomaly in itself old boy LOL!! :)
I'll walk you a bit further in the Urban psychy here. Urban thinking the NSS might not be solved favourably (possible) he could still reward long investors by selling mineral rights to some heavy hitting international producer. So now he can continue with his precious merger plan full speed ahead fulfilling his diamond dream.
OK crystal ball getting foggy here now back to WallyMart it goes..;)

DeBeers could have been mounting a hostile takeover. Urban troubled by NSS gets introduced to Roger . Roger says I'll let you speak with my good buddies Adolph and Lukas.

JNR boosts private placement to five million shares
2004-03-19 12:01 ET - News Release
Mr. Rick Kusmirski reports
JNR Resources's private placement announced in Stockwatch on March 18, 2004, has been increased from four million shares to five million shares at a price of 50 cents per share for total proceeds of $2.5-million.
Toll Cross Securities of Toronto, Ont., has been appointed as the company's exclusive agent for the offering, on a best-efforts basis. The company has agreed to pay Toll Cross a commission equal to 5 per cent of the gross proceeds of the offering, payable in cash at, and conditional on, closing of the offering.
A portion of the net proceeds of this private placement will be used toward exploration on the company's uranium properties, located in Saskatchewan, and potential acquisition and exploration of one or more additional uranium properties, as currently under review. The balance of the net proceeds will be used for general working capital purposes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I believe the Lundin group might be interested in the uranium aspect possibly gold though that may be a slight stretch. Point I make here Lundins typically invest from afar letting the company run it's own show without interference. That would be in keeping with their style. Urban might still be in charge of the diamonds but Lundin gets the uranium mining. Win Win situation also Lundins have never been in diamonds to my knowledge.
Some stocks go MONTHS without PR's and longs hang in there based on their convictions. Urban has no designated responsibility to wing out a fluff PR to keep your shirt on your back? I'd much rather he PR CMKX when he's good and ready no matter how much Urban wants to keep his investors informed.
Seems to me we are all impatient if not a little spoiled many stocks NEVER PR this fast and furious. FLUFF PR's will hurt your stock make no mistake the market is fickle and nervous right now.
Whatever this next PR is you better hope it's not just a stop gap we need a meaningful PR in the worst way be patient drilling is costly. Roger is busy and you can bet Urban is swamped with restructuring negotiations with Roger needing his undivided attention to help him accomplish it.
I was not here Friday to hear IBC Radio's StockTalkLive! but a known caller has constantly slagged CMKX. His name is Slim and he's a long time caller and has been an investor in IBC in the past to best of knowledge still is. Sarcastic to the bone I doubt I have heard him say a good word about CMKX. I'm guessing but this is likely who you are in reference too. He is overall perhaps the host's favourite caller , topical brash biting sarcasm he provokes listeners to call in with his stinging opinionated criticism. Indeed I believe he made a good fast dollar from flipping CMKX. The moderators JUST LOVE this guy. Good successful experienced trader bigotted but most importantly CONTROVERSIAL
As far as moderators ahem ("reporters") they are not good resource investors and were lethargically (sloth like) slow to come around on the potential of CMKX because of the unknown share structure and to them at least suspicious volume. Fair enough they have to alert there investors and audience to a possible scam where in the pinks is not uncommon. The moderator does not follow chat rooms yet by this time CMKX RB board was simply to fast to follow you'd think the show would have had a clue here?
They have though complained (in the past not Friday) that Melvin was calling in to much and did not offer to pay sponsorship to the show. Slim and (I suspected off air collusion here) coincidentally the host echoed those comments repeatedly both openly accusing Melvin of hitchhiking and/or freeloading on StockTalkLive! all while their call in rate soared stratospherically due to Melvin and the CMKX enigma. This is where CMKX was crossed by IBC IMHO and Melvin was not oblivious by any means to this shrewd managerial change up by StockTalkLive!.
Yet when no one later called in about CMKX including Melvin they wondered why the silence? What was that villain CMKX up to now?? Rank amateur ratings tactics I discovered a bias in the show towards fast buck daytraders (more on this later) that in fairness can do well in the pinks IF they know what the pitfalls are and take advantage of the slower less experienced small cap trader who always pays the price of inattentiveness.
I'm off the show lately far too much advertising and incredibly obnoxious advertising at that ; one in particular (Inventek) has me lunging frantically for the mute button constantly never mind the 2000 flushes millionaire. Who needs that rot when your trying to do any crucial last minute DD is my question? When calling in the line often goes unanswered in favour of recorded music or commercials. Suggestive to me that they subconcsciously screen for their favourite callers who dig up the latest hot play in a slow market that is pretty hard to come by right now. Either that or they are punching up the next commercial. Remember they (IBC) are an upstart broadcaster who desperately need ratings to expand in a highly competitive market niche.
At any rate hard to get on the show and when on your hustled off air so they can go to a break more often than not a commercial or dreadful canned music, news , recorded interview or who knows what... my point being it all gets to be a monstrous waste of my time.
Yet they do a very careful job of answering lengthy calls from there own IBC investors, I think that will get IBC in hot water with regulators because it's during trading hours hope I'm wrong for their sake. In the beginning the show was very good but relentless infuriating commercials and an apparent caller selection process have me judging the show more critically than anything else these days. Unfortunate because they seemed to have a very good thing going. They are extremely good listeners when they choose to be which is all to rare for my liking these days. Bet your bottom dollar when CMKX moves they'll be ALL over it we'll be right in the StockTalkLive! limelight. Till then we are passe , chopped liver, last hour's news let's move on to the next story or corny commercial kind of thing.
I find the host more opinionated than ever nearing an election which seems off topic, that coupled with far too many commercials , seemingly screened callers, to me the show has lost much of it's appeal and therefore usefulness. Clearly there is a lack of understanding and empathy by the show for resource investing in my experience. Once the host bitterly recalled how he was burned by resource investing and does not consider it his favourite play.
Hopefully that might change as this correction produces safe harbor for resource investors from yet another tech wreck. I have complained loudly and vehemently the show has far too much advertising. Their response was more commercials and a heavy biased political leaning which is of very great disappointment given what the show was designed for and could be in the future given better direction.
In the beginning the show purposely made a VERY big joke out of CMKX trying to provocate some callers to call in. Most definitely the object of a new kid on the block type chiding irreverance to it's potential. I strongly feel that the hosts thought CMKX would bite the dust like so many other pinks before it. The moderators knowing they were heading into summer doldrums just played CMKX for all the on air antics it was worth. Point of fact the show was broadsided by CMKX's unusual strategy they clearly did not grasp the methodology Urban was employing IMHO they did not have the foggiest clue what Urban was up to. Very biting and satirical poking of fun at CMKX then labelling it as a drafter in a possible "QBID Effect". That I found way over the top and thrusting directly to the CMKX jugular. Shock jock stock CROCK and rank amateur reporting.
Now of course as "reporters" they are able to change their opinion 180 degrees and have done so that is the nature of the business present "the story" up to the minute breaking news. Obviously it's their show they can say what they want about CMKX and indeed have come full circle since initiating CMKX coverage. The satire is a tool to get callers to phone in and make the show interesting the more feedback the more gauge for the listener wanting to buy. I find the host's lack of depth in understanding of resource stocks an obstacle to open conversation the satire nauseatingly boorish and repetitive, the advertising unbearably far to frequent, infuriatingly loud and obnoxious. They do not slam CMKX as much now notice but any stock that breaks from the mold can expect to get chastized by IBC Radio's StockTalkLive! As CMKX did by not declaring it's share structure and it's curious record volume the unusual play became first rate show content. The show's ugly duckling became the IBC swan stock. It's premiere topic for weeks and weeks.
This was simply a tactic to get listeners to call in NOTHING MORE IMHO. I think several new tactics are in order if IBC ratings are to improve though. StockTalkLive! caters to the quick buck experts in daytrading as it's always fashionable to make some fast "easy" money and good for the show's ratings and the herd mentality (Momo). There is a synergy in that combination which is fiendishly opportunistic yes , but is utilized to the fullest to push their products relentlessly.
From this quick buck hype StockTalkLive! is selling a plethora of products. A newsletter stock advisory service , a satellite receiver to hear the show live instead of a highly buffered webcast , subscriber paid for bitstreamed content faster than it's highly buffered webcast a VOIP cellphone that webcasts it's show and a multitude of other incidental retailer's products to obscure to mention. I seriously question IBC's insurmountable problems with webcasting to too many listeners. I believe it's more opportunistic hype , a ploy to sell more weird and wonderful tech gadgetry.
Through all this split-second hype and latest last minute must have gadgetry along comes some hick from the Canadian sticks diamond miner no one ever heard of. In comes Urban with a new CEO twist which was novel, topical, and controversial. In reality resource investing lends itself more to value based investing it's not as fashionable or fast paced for the audience so there is that lack of listener appeal that will very likely always leave some friction between CMKX and the StockTalkLive! moderators I dare say most resource stocks may feel maligned by the show.
StockTalkLive and it's stockolders do continue to bash CMKX bet your portfolio on that one but since it's made it's move not nearly so much satire now it has gained some status from it's once sneered and often taunted at .0001 PPS . Paradoxically CMKX is now no longer sexy enough for the fast paced requirement IBC needs to move it's products and services ...until it has another explosive run which I believe to be very close at hand. IBC moderators charade as "reporters" but just like any other electronic information IBC relies heavily on ratings to sell it's advertising. The hosts are experienced and apparently successful investors but in terms of reporting I feel they could use a profound amount more polish and less shock jock strategy, that's their business not mine.
CMKX got a lot of mileage out of IBC and I highly commend Melvin for knowing when to hold up and when to fold up, seeing these guys for what they were (Joel included) he nonchalantly waltzed over a very intimidatingly high tightrope and IMHO traversed exceedingly well given the circumstances.
Don't get me wrong CMKX did well by StockTalkLive! but that largely was due to a wiley IR officer in Melvin Oneil who was very warey of a hidden agenda by IBC Radio. I wish the show well understand but the format has drastically fallen out of favour with this listener. They would do far better improving on their reporting skills meeting their listeners needs instead of sensationalistic and opportunistic pumping of stocks to meet their own marketing agenda.
The outlook for Shore Gold is getting brighter the further down the tunnel they go.
Last Thursday, the company released its fourth set of results from its bulk sample program in Fort a la Corne and the figures continue to show promise.
A further six batches - bringing the total to 22 out of around 100 - found another 1,463 commercial sized stones (larger than 1.18 millimetres) weighing a total of 223.6 carats as well as 163 smaller stones (between 1.17 and 0.85 mm) with a weight of 2.6 carats.
The more impressive number though is the average grade for the six batches. At 18.01 carats per hundred tonnes, it has given rise to renewed optimism at Shore Gold.
"The samples processed to date have produced a significant number of large diamonds," said George Read, Sr. vice-president of exploration for Shore.
"The abundance of large, quality stones will have a highly positive effect on the economics of the project."
More drilling
A five company joint venture announced earlier this month that it will soon begin drilling on a claim that is near the Fort a la Corne region that has been proven to have significant diamonds.
The joint venture includes Shane Resources (TSXV: SEIH), United Carina Resources (TSXV: UCA) and Consolidated Pine Channel Gold (TSXV: KPG) - all from Saskatoon - along with Las Vegas-based CMKM Diamonds (OTCBB: CMKM) and U.S. Canadian Minerals (OTCBB: UCAD).
The claim is located about 12 kilometres northwest of the site currently producing diamonds for Shore Gold.
The joint venture didn't release any information regarding the drilling program or how much it is planning to spend.
Works for me..
I'd like to comment about these "charity" shares...
In fact I'd REALLY like to comment on them but truth is work takes me out of town ( usually at the most innopportune moments ) I have NO IDEA what Zen is talking about can someone please link me to a rundown on what this Charity and Sterling is all about?
Ever so kind thanks awfully :)
I was hearing today the consensus of analysts predict there is a 40% chance of a recession next year because of high oil prices. History shows recessionary indicators are always lead by a downturn in the transportation sectors stifling production, killing the economy. Where do brutalized tech investors and others go when times get bad? Resources , now of all the resources which holds the most attraction which would you choose. Diamonds were taken with the Jewish fleeing from Nazis in WWII they did not dare leave their diamonds behind to valuable and transportable. That is where Hitler got all his gold Jews could not disguise or transport it. The Jews left the gold and hoarded their diamonds So of all the diamond plays which is the easiest known? If CMKX was about to stiff people do you think Roger Glenn would want to be party to that bad press?
Either you believe in this or you don't I think your sitting on the fence and I wish you luck but if your out when the PR's hit you were warned please don't come whining here with the worst case of whiplash woes known to penny traders the world over ok?
If Roger Glenn is here solely for the short squeeze I seriously doubt he'd even make himself known with this pinksheet company. Simply stated it had to be a better prize for his skills and ambition not to mention reputation on the line.
Get in or get out if you plan on being that 1% (or less) of investors who read all the signs just perfectly for swing trading to work I congratulate you. If your sitting on the fence I wish you the very best of luck IMHO you will need every bit of it.
Ever stop to think that might be the whole ball game. Get your head spinning I mean? If it's not in a PR as far as I'm concerned it's hearsay.
No I'm not being a Doubting Thomas there are connections Ron Walker is Rick Walker's brother Ron works for Shore.
taylur911 you have very convincing DD here but keep your head on straight. Trade with that perceptive brain and not your emotions.
That said it could be bigger than Shore and I'm beginning to wonder about DeBeers it's all conveniently quiet from that corner. Coincidence? Maybe wait for the PR before you decide is all I'm saying. If CMKX can keep a wrap on the OS thus far bet your bottom loonie they can keep it quiet IF deep pockets are driving this as I suspect.
Shore harvests more carats
Ken MacNeill's Shore Gold Inc. has produced the best grades yet from deep within its Star kimberlite pipe, with two of the latest batches of rock producing grades in excess of one-quarter of a carat per tonne. The latest haul increases the likelihood that Shore will exceed its goal of 3,000 carats from 25,000 tonnes of rock. Adding to the Star promise was another toutable haul of large diamonds, and that should bode well for the results of a subsequent valuation of the complete diamond parcel, which is the primary purpose of Shore's big test.
Despite the latest batch of rosy news, Shore's shares went into a bit of a slump. The stock traded as high as $2.05 early this month, but it dipped to an intraday low of $1.55 on Monday, as investors who had eagerly been buying on hope over the past year seemed more than willing to sell on the news.
The slump did seem an unusual reaction, as the latest numbers delivered more promise than had the previous set, which had triggered a buying spree at the end of July. The presence of a 20-carat diamond in that earlier crop of carats likely spurred that speculative frenzy, but there were several promotable stones in the latest batch. "People can not comprehend that something so good can come out of Saskatchewan," said George Read, who became Shore's vice-president of exploration less than a year ago.
Shore processed another 1,256 tonnes of kimberlite, all of it from the 235-metre level of the mammoth pipe. The rock produced 223.6 carats of diamonds larger than a 1.18-millimetre cut-off, which is good enough for a grade of nearly 0.18 carat per tonne. Included in the haul were another four diamonds that were larger than five carats, including a stone that weighed 8.12 carats, and a second diamond that was nearly as large.
In all, Shore has processed over 9,300 tonnes of Star kimberlite, coming up with a bit over 900 carats, for an indicated grade of just under 0.10 carat per tonne. That would seem to suggest that Shore Gold will fall well short of its 3,000-carat goal, but the remaining rock will all be coming from the early Joli Fou kimberlite phase, which has produced an average diamond grade of about 0.15 carat per tonne to date.
If that trend continues, Shore's remaining 15,000 tonnes of kimberlite might be expected to yield about 2,350 more carats, which would bring the final tally to about 3,250 carats. Things could be even better than that, as the bulk of the rock will apparently be coming from the 235-metre level, which has delivered a grade of nearly 0.19 carat per tonne.
That would appear to bode well for the grade of the lower portions of Star, but the most promising news was the continued recovery of larger diamonds. Although the latest samples did not produce any stones that would pique the markets interest to the same degree as the 19.71-carat stone that turned up a few weeks ago, there were several large diamonds that add to the confidence that the early Joli Fou kimberlite has a particularly coarse diamond size distribution.
Shore has processed 2,365 tonnes of material from the 235-metre level over the past few weeks, recovering nearly 450 carats of diamonds. The indicated grade of 0.19 carat per tonne has a considerable amount of promotional value on its own, but it is the recovery of 65 diamonds larger than one carat that delivers the most encouragement. Shore did not reveal how much that parcel of larger diamonds weighed, but the collection of one-carat stones may have weighed about 170 carats.
If so, the larger diamonds would account for more than one-third of the weight of the entire parcel, and that proportion compares favourably with most potentially economic diamond deposits found in Canada to date. Size is an important factor in determining the value of a diamond, so the seemingly coarse size distribution curve is a promising sign that the value of the Star diamonds will meet or beat Shore's hopes.
After Shore recovered its first batch of diamonds in June, Mr. Read said he was optimistic that the per-carat value of the Star gems would top the $100 (U.S.) mark, although he added that any predictions would be purely speculative. Mr. Read continues to qualify his optimism with similar cautions, but he now says that the frequency of recovery of larger diamonds has increased his view of the value of Shore's diamonds. "We are happy that what we are producing now is going to have what it takes," Mr. Read said, although he added that the success of the Star project would ultimately depend upon the valuation exercise.
Speculators may not have that long a wait for the results of that exercise. Mr. Read said that mining was proceeding at a promising pace, with about 100 two-tonne batches of rock excavated on a daily basis. At that rate, Mr. Read thinks that the entire sample will have been mined during September, and the material will have been run through its processing plant by the end of October. Samples are continually being sent to Lakefield Research's laboratory for final diamond recovery, and Mr. Read was pleased with the flow of results on that end as well.
Investors have occasionally been somewhat grumpy about short delays in Shore's flow of information, but the somewhat slower pace is likely due to the greater diamond content in the more recent batches of concentrate sent to Lakefield. "The more diamonds they find, the longer it takes them to report," Mr. Read said, adding that it was a problem his company was certainly willing to live with.
If all goes according to plan, and the numbers of diamonds remains within manageable proportions, Shore should be able to reveal the final tallies and the resulting appraisals of its complete diamond parcel by the end of this year. That would leave Shore to mull things over for a bit and then start work on a prefeasibility or feasibility study early next year.
Determining the grade of Star as a whole will be one challenge. The early Joli Fou kimberlite in the vicinity of Shore's shaft has measured up to Mr. Read's hopes, but the company will now have to demonstrate that the material being processed is comparable with the rock in other parts of the mammoth pipe.
There clearly are fundamental differences between the late and early Joli Fou phases of kimberlite. The later material at the top of the pipe has produced an average grade of about 0.025 carat per tonne, nearly an order of magnitude less than what has come from the earlier material at greater depths.
There appear to be some grade variations within the high-grade phases as well, but none of that is a surprise to Mr. Read. He said that he expected to see grades varying between 0.1 and 0.3 carat per tonne, and maybe more. "That is absolutely situation normal for any kimberlite," Mr. Read stated, adding that what Shore was finding during its bulk sampling program had been expected, based on the company's earlier drilling efforts.
Mr. Read believes that what Shore is coming up with on the 235-metre level "will be very representative of the early Joli Fou in general." If he is right it would be great news for the Star project, as that kimberlite phase accounts for about 80 per cent of the kimberlite within the pipe, which is estimated to contain as much as 500 million tonnes of kimberlite in total.
Shore will still have to come up with something more tangible than Mr. Read's opinion during the feasibility work, and such an effort is under way. Shore has submitted samples of kimberlite from its larger batches for microdiamond recovery, and those results will be matched with the recoveries of larger diamonds to come up with a good understanding of the complete diamond distribution curves for each lot of rock.
That information will then be used to come up with approximate grade estimates for other parts of Star, based on past and future drilling programs. The approach is a common one within the industry. In 2000, Winspear Diamond Corp. used a similar technique to come up with an indicated and inferred resource for the bulk of its Snap Lake dike, despite the fact that just the western fringe of the body had actually been bulk sampled.
Shore has already drilled quite a number of holes into a large part of Star, and Mr. Read should already have a good idea of how the diamond recoveries within the remaining parts of the pipe compare with the site the company selected for its bulk sample. As well, continued drilling from the depths of the pipe and from the surface of the body will provide additional information.
Mr. Read said that Shore would also be drilling some new targets on the company's Fort a la Corne property. The targets were selected on the basis of an electromagnetic survey that outlined some features that had previously been overlooked, including one about 10 kilometres to the northwest of Star.
Another of the targets is the first anomaly that Shore tested in the area. In 1996, the company drilled two holes into a target just northeast of Star, and the core samples produced a modest number of microdiamonds. Things were better just to the west, and the company concentrated its efforts on what became Star, but Mr. Read thinks the original target now warrants a new look, as it appears to be larger than first thought.
If all goes well, Mr. Read's exploration program could produce some added news that could sustain the promotability of the project after Shore's big bulk sample is complete.
Shore added a dime on Tuesday, closing at $1.70.
