Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.
BUT, upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:
The melody out of music,
The pride out of appearance,
The romance out of love,
The commitment out of marriage,
The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,
The learning out of education,
The service out of patriotism,
The religion out of school,
The Golden Rule from rulers,
The nativity scene out of cities,
The civility out of behavior,
The refinement out of language,
The dedication out of employment,
The prudence out of spending, or
The ambition out of achievement.
And we certainly are NOT the ones who eliminated patience and tolerance from personal relationships and interactions with others!!
Does anyone under the age of 50 know the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner?
Just look at those old folks with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they stand at attention with their hand over their hearts!
And, unless many of our younger generation learn to count, in the absence of computers and calculators, they will be back to counting on fingers and toes.
Remember.......Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the hell happened.
Have fun,
Phil
NW,
Sometimes it's pretty hard to refute being called a liar. For example, if you were to call me a liar when I said I was long in XXXX stock, how do I refute that other than by sending you my brokerage statement? And there are other charges it's impossible to disprove. So that doesn't always work.
If someone were to call you a liar and not be able to prove it, why would it hurt your feelings?
Unless you lied?
You could prove you were long any stock without divulging the amount of shares by posting a copy of the confirmation ticket and blocking out the number of shares.
I have been called a liar when I posted something and I knew I was not lying. I simply said, You have made an allegation, now prove it.
I believe anyone that calls someone a liar needs to back it up with fact. Links, whatever, but facts. Otherwise, they are the idiots.
Have fun,
Phil
Mary,
You are not in jail because of your message, but in the "delivery" of your message.
If you don't understand that, PM me.
Joe,
I am a lurker, but there are a couple of items in your posts that might not hold proof.
UMCC was 30c when she switched from bigtime pumper to basher. That was also the day she got turned down for a job there.
I, sir, and I use the term loosely, am only an observer here. But how would you have that information if you were not an insider, or at least an employee?
Just wondering,
Phil
Have fun,
Phil
Matt,
I know I am posting this to Tom, but I also know you are watching.
How about starting a thread where deleted messages are posted and voted upon.
Should they be be totally deleted, or posted to another thread, maybe a "deleted post thread"?.
Posts with curses should probably be deleted because the poster lacks the ability to convey a thought without cursing.
But we as a community should be able to decide whether the post is justified or not.
It would be easy to start a thread that would post every deleted post from every thread and let members decide if the post should be permantly deleted.
Have fun,
Phil
To all:
I hope you enjoy:
FIVE GREAT LESSONS
1 - Most Important Lesson
During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the
woman who cleans the school?"
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank.
Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would
count toward our quiz grade. "Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say
'hello'."
I've never forgotten that lesson. I've also never forgotten her name was Dorothy.
2 - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain
One night, at 11:30 PM, an older African American woman was standing on
the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rain storm.
Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet,
she decided to flag down the next car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s.
The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxi cab. She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him.
Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home A special note was
attached. It read: "Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away. God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others."
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nat King Cole.
3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those whom you serve.
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy
entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.
"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.
"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired.
By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient. "Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied."
The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream," he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away.
The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the
waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies. -
You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.
4 - Fourth Important Lesson - The Obstacle in Our Path
In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid
himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.
Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded.
After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse
lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant
learned what many of us never understand.
Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.
5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts
Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year-old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness.
The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the
little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep
breath and saying, "Yes, I'll do it if it will save her."
As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and
smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?"
Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he
was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

I have followed IDCC for about seven or eight years and have owned a little a time or two. I owned a little when it ran up into the 70's a year or two ago.
I have lost track recently.
Have all of the lawsuits been settled?
TIA,
Have fun,
Phil
Joemonkey,
You should not have to even ask that question.
Did you forget this post?
I was reading the Jail thread and you guys were talking about letting me out or not and I want to say that I know my posts can come out as sounding idiotic or just plain annoying sometimes, but I was reading some of my back posts this morning and I personally don't even like what I was reading. I actually don't blame you for suspending me, because I needed a good coonk on the head. This email is not a suck up attempt to get my membership unsuspended, but just an FYI that I'm not a complete idiot and I know when I'm acting like a fool. I doubt if you'll get anymore trouble out me - I've too seen my back posts and am quite ashamed. I never realized this until I read them.
Joemoney

What will it take?
I'll bet to keep your promise.

Matt,
You would have to go back a thousand posts on the SI LGOV thread to find how bad and how deep the bad blood runs.
hollen and Dusty tried to run me off of the thread simply because I suggested that performing DD was not reading the company's website and news releases.
After the company posted the financials, which were dismal, I was criticized for my critique of the report.
All they cared about was the fact the report was filed, not what the content was. I was flamed on SI and RB.
Hollen and I go way back.
Check it out if you wish, but I still believe him to be an idiot.
Have fun,
Phil
Hollen,
I did not correct my post quick enough.
I meant, I am not a "secret" admirer, nor a "closet" admirer, simply an admirer.
The fact that you dislike him makes me like him all the more.
I believe you to be an idiot an a shill.
Have fun,
Phil
hollen,
It's quite clear that the coorect solution lies with the need for an acute earectomy; which will allow the removal of either your, or your secret admirer's, head - subsequently solving your personal effluent occlusion.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
coorect

I could not find a definition in any dictionary.

earectomy

Again, no definition available.
I still believe you to be an idiot and a shill.
Remember:
It's better to let people believe you to be an idiot, than to post and leave no doubt.
And I am not a secret admirer.

Quahog,
Sorry for the delay in responing to your post.
Here goes:
If there were a neutral state between light and dark, hot and cold, then surely it would be capable of being quantified in either lumens or degrees.
From an on line dictionary:
Scientists use the units candela and lumen to measure the brightness of light as perceived by humans. These units account for the different response of the eye to light of different colors. The lumen measures the total amount of energy in the light radiated in all directions, and the candela measures the amount radiated in a particular direction. The candela was originally called the candle, and it was defined in terms of the light produced by a standard candle. It is now defined as the energy flow in a given direction of a yellow-green light with a frequency of 540 x 1012 Hz and a radiant intensity, or energy output, of 1/683 watt into the opening of a cone of one steradian. The steradian is a measure of angle in three dimensions.
The lumen can be defined in terms of a source that radiates one candela uniformly in all directions. If a sphere with a radius of one foot were centered on the light source, then one square foot of the inside surface of the sphere would be illuminated with a flux of one lumen. Flux means the rate at which light energy is falling on the surface. The illumination, or luminance, of that one square foot is defined to be one foot-candle.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Now, do you still not believe a lumen to be a measurement of light? What about wattage? Do you not also believe a watt to be a measurement of light? Why does a 100 watt bulb give more light than a twenty light bulb? Or does it simply displace more darkness? Either way, there is a difference between light and dark.
Also, you say:
Same applies to heat. Cranking up the AC does not add cold, it removes heat.
You are exactly right. A/C does not cool the air. It removes heat and therefore makes it feel cooler.
But doesn't the removal of the heat render the air somewhere between hot and cold?
After all, cold is simply the removal of all of the heat.
Is that possible?
No.
But all heat would fry the earth.
I only propose that there is a difference between dark and light, and hot and cold. If you still don't agree, I need a more definitive explanation.
Have fun,
Phil
Shaolin,
I am construction consultant with over 30 years experience in and around the construction industry. I spent a fair number of years in the paint and heavy duty coatings industry as a coatings cosultant. I ran a cabinet shop on the side in my garage that I ended up selling to one of my employees. I then continued in various and sundry jobs for a couple of engineering firms. Been around industrial jobs related to fuel piping, electrical projects related to computer monitoring systems and pumping systems, and a lot of excavating, removing and replacing underground petroleum tanks and sytems.
I have also been a homeowner almost thirty years, performing all of my own maintenance, repair and upgrades, including a garage, several storage buildings, decks, a brick patio, a 1,000 gallon series of ornamental fish ponds, etc.
I also restify older vehicles with my current projects being a 69 Chevelle and a 57 Chevy.
I by no means think I know it all and love it when I learn something new every day.
I will be looking forward to reading and contributing to your new thread.
Have fun,

IMHO, hollen and Fancis are the most disliked of all of the penny stock hypsters. (The ones I know of anyway)
Since they both seem to not like you,

Carolyn,
It will be hard to come up with lively colors for January and February. For some reason gray, brown and white come to mind.
You know, for the bark and yet to fall leaves on the trees and the snow.
I guess we could consider the colors of the four wheel drive vehicles we need to get around in the snow.
We have not had to worry about any snow here yet, but I am talking about the season.
Have fun,

How about a contest to see how many new posters one can bring to the thread.
I did pretty good bringing new posters to one of Neenny's threads on SI once.
What do you think?

OK.

Then that is beyond the scope of this bar - a friendly place to hang out and discuss things of interest.
Sometimes people don't get my humor, and sometimes my brain can't transmit it to my fingers, but I don't think we are communicating.

Any dark quiet corners in your bar?
Just wondering.

I still consider you to be an idiot for hyping LGOV the way you did and then turning on them.
Whether you respond to me or others with your trite and hard to understand messages, the results are the same.
Again, I consider you sir, and I use that term loosely, to be an idiot.

Joe,
That's because your a narrow minded old man who is scared to take risks. I have a made and lot a lot on OTCBBs, but in the end I've come out way ahead and if you know what your doing, your better off in the OTCBB market. You say that because you don't understand the OTCBB market.
I might be a narrow minded old man that is scared to take risks, but that is because I have been fleeced by OTC:BB scam artists already. You will get yours. You might think yourself smarter than the market, but if you are, you are a P&D and again, you will get your just rewards in the end.
A company's website is a lie? The profiles on Yahoo Finance are lies? PRs are lies?
Joe, really, how old are you?
All of those references are company generated and easily manipulated.
Are all of them lies? Maybe not.
Are most of them lies? With OTC:BB companies?
Probably.
The company is the last source I would trust for accurate information.
If you disagree, I sir, and again I use that term loosely, am not the idiot.
Have fun,

What waas your favorite Christmas gift (given or received) this year?
Given: An 18" yellow gold herringbone necklace. She looks so sexy with nothing but it on.
Recieved: A digital camera. It is so cool to take pictures and not need film.
Anything you can do to help a poor poet keep up a relatively interesting and insult-free conversation would be much appreciated. -g

Perish the thought.

Your website says:
The best thing any new investor can do to better their knowledge on a certain company is to visit the company's website, look at their stock profile, and read all of the important news releases they can find.
This is absolutely the worst informaton one can give to an OTC:BB "player". I hesitate to call anyone an investor that plays with OTC:BB stocks.
All of the information sources you listed are company generated and therefore easily manipulated, or outright lies.
You are simply showing yourself to be more of an idiot and a tout.
Have fun,

A lot of my guns are loaded. My kids know not to mess with them because they know they are loaded. They also know to treat all guns as if they are loaded, whether or not they are loaded. This is a matter of education and intelligence.
Can other kids get to them?
Only if my kids tell them where they are.
My kids are 20, 17 and 15. I have had no problems yet.
Any other questions?
I have a question.
Do you work for any company that is selling any security devices?
