I guess I should add that the anxiety of the losses test my patience. I want to find a winner that will recover them as quickly as I lost them, and that seems like perhaps not the best way to trade.
The messages from a week ago should clear that up, but it seems that I need to find something that works for me. I just wish it didn't cost so much.
The pinks and pennies have killed me. When you say you set min/max goals and take notes, could you elaborate? I have my previous trades noted in my watch lists and still follow the up and downs, fundamentals of each company and so on just to get a read on the relative strength of each one. most recover eventually, but after I "cut my losses". And when you say bank your gains, you mean you don't trade that money?
I was doing that, (check previous messages from a week ago), but that was having a net negative affect as well. It was suggested that I pick one or two solid picks to go all in on until the nest egg grew.
I've been Paper trading (watch lists) the winners and real time trading the losers.
I know your advice about learning charts is true. I am slowly learning the charts, but also, I think learning the fundamentals about each stock I'm in can't hurt either. Thought I was making progress on both fronts but my accounts don't show it.
I tell you one thing I'm still learning, the kool-aid on the message boards can be mighty strong.
I thought I was learning the ropes. How many ropes are there? I just get aggravated when I see picks I'm not in go up quite nicely and the one's I do choose just suck me dry.
What else? This whole trip from 2000.00 to current on the chart to 1,000,000.00 started on margin. Should there be another approach?
Haven't had much of a chance to take profits. I've been practicing cutting my losses. I was in COPI at an average of .089 and got out at .058. that is where most of my loss came from. The other losses have been a little here and there off of what seem like solid picks. I'm currently sitting in PRFT. I got a margin call waiting for that to go back up to the buy point. I could have taken a $20 profit early on the buy in day. I waited until it hit 9.69 to buy. Figured it would fill the gap then run back up. Doy!!!
I'm down 3000.00 in 2 months since being here. My choices couldn't have been any more off the target. about 40% down off my original investment.
GRIN, post marked. When?
no question about that anymore. But as a technical question, what price did it have to hit in order for the gap to be filled, with the previous close at 9.66 and the open at 9.98? 9.67? or just something close to that?
PRFT. When is the gap considered filled?

How's that for some fancy talk!!! ;)
Thanks for the heads up Geaux. Saved me 1000 bucks or so today. I've got your buy point in my headlights as well. is .035 to .04 still a hard buy target?
That has been my strategy for about 2 months now. :(>
wish I was in some of them.
I'm curious to see what your overall average is on these pinchers. Do you have a bottom 10? Are these picks posted daily somewhere? I could track them that way. How many picks are posted daily?
what a difference .10 makes
Just a note. I did make money today!! I didn't think of it that way because I was down the last previous two days. The money I made today didn't cover my losses from the previous 2 days, but....it was a gain. It is hard to see that psychologically though.
that's a large 10-4. see you in the morning. hope it's not too late.
Update from yesterdays fits of anxiety. Feeling a little bit better after some solid tutoring. (I'll be reading those helpful posts over and over again. slow learner.)
Sold apwr at open for only a 5 dollar loss instead of the (100) dollar loss it was showing after yesterday's close.
Sold -100 of FRPT @ $4.01 for a (24.06) loss
Sold -200 of CLZR @ $3.4705 for a (31.80) loss
Bought 400 of ACTU @ $5.01 It's all margin and cash would let me buy at the time.
Still holding:
300 of ZYNX @ $1.55
100 of JSDA @ $6.19
I'm giving these a chance to recover. Smart or not?
yesterday $2240.00
Today $2322.00
me too? duhhhhhh.
Yes, I have been a little confused about these principals. I'm going to have to read these helpful posts a few times.
Hilarious!!!
"I don't have any recommendations on "good picks", I watch, I wait, I listen, load the revolver with one round, take a deep breath, put it to my head and squeeze the trigger.
With any luck, the stock goes up and I hit on an empty chamber in the revolver, LOL."
My timing has been just atrocious lately, which has made me nervous about pulling the trigger on just one round. :) So, I thought it was safer to put 5 rounds in the chamber.
Ok, looking forward, my thought would be to liquidating all but maybe
FRPT 100 @ 4.058
ZYNX 300 @ 1.55
and dropping it into FRPT.
I'ld like to hold a little out for maybe a copi play?
This makes sense, and I would also like to defend my position in APWR. All near term projections have it going to 20.00 or more fairly quickly. I thought it was worth the risk hoping to take that quick hit and put it elsewhere. Obviously, that didn't work out, for now.
And your right. Even if I did jump out at the High after my purchase I would have netted about 10 - 20 dollars. YeeeeHaaawww!!
How do I pick the "winner" then? I thought I had it when APWR went up to 18.00 or so considering all the positive projections from various sources before the eod reverse run. I really thought I had good entry points on the others as well.
I should note that I feel fairly confident that if I didn't sell any of my positions until I hit my predetermined sell points, I would probably see those points hit, but it would take longer than the normal flow and ebb of things here, and possibly miss the next big runner, like the copi call from .03 to .11
I need some advice. I need some wins soon. My gains are small, my losses are much bigger. I started the week in my new etrade margin account with 2500.00 At the close today it was 2240.00 My confidence is weak.
mostly due to cadx (90.00)
and APWR bought 100 at 17.66 today and closing at 16.81
The rest of my account is allocated:
CLZR 200 @ 3.5285
FRPT 100 @ 4.058
JSDA 100 @ 6.19
ZYNX 300 @ 1.55
Am I allocating my funds incorrectly? Should I be trying to make bigger gains on one or two stocks, or should I be spreading the cash around 5 stocks or so?
I'm missing badly.
I've been bleeding cash since before picking copi at an average .089 which I'm still holding in my Scottrade account and a couple of other slow winners and fast losers and just plain dumb (bad)? luck coming in and out at the wrong time. (NYNY) for example.
Thanks for any help or advice.
Soccer is very dangerous!!
etrade has CADX a/h @ 5.74 Earnings expected 2-18
I took a beating or rather gave myself a beating trading on principles that were just not sound. I feel a turn around coming for me because I found this board that you all have graciously provided.
All the principles that the moderators endeavor to teach on this board is something I need to learn or remember. If I posted a message of thanks every time you all turn on a light bulb in my mind, I would be posting far to often, but then again my gratitude doesn't post itself and silence doesn't convey it very well either.
I'm grateful for every minute of your life that you and all the moderators have provided to this group and to me individually. It has been important to me.
Other notes:
I am responsible for all of my own trades. Always. No one forced me when to click the buy button.
I have needed a little hand holding the last couple of weeks, and it has helped me a lot. It has helped me with confidence and I needed it. Thank you.
I hope to be able to contribute someday and that at the moment I'm not too big of a burden.
eleventy blue.
OT: me too at S**C
OT: What did you see happening that encouraged you to buy IDMI two days ago? I'm trying to follow the pincher's but have trouble deciphering a call from a progress report.
I get it.
oof daah!! Where abouts in Minnesota are ya? I was in Alexandria for about 5 years.
Hey, that's just....well that's just not nice. lol
Seems more like a sleepover. I'm ready for it to wake up again.
So, Monksdream is persona non grata now? Used to be he pumped the heck out of this one.
