Hear hear! …. unrelated, but if anyone wants a good, fun read that sparks the imagination re: 3D printing/new technology; check out the novel, "The Diamond Age" by Neal Stephenson… I read it 7 years ago and "The Feed" in that book was one of many things that struck me….. [basically everyone has home composite 3D printers that print atoms at the nanoscale to essentially grow objects; stock for which is obtained by sucking up raw elements mostly from the seafloor.] When I heard of 3D printing for production that was the first thing I thought of. Obviously 3-D printing in the real world is nowhere near that- but I think as printers get cheaper and more refined, we will eventually see objects made directly in our homes…. and who knows, in our great-grand children's day, what the new technology will be.
Isn't that GE Aviation's Additive Development Center now?
What he means is they haven't gotten them YET but will over the coming year. In terms of significant revenue, probably won't show up for some time… our Q will likely only show contract printing from ours for at least the next two Q's… and since there's that frustrating gap time waiting on the 10K every spring, it may be a bit.
He said, "Yes." [pause] "We expect…. AND ARE PLANNING FOR….." :)
That's what I heard. October 1st release. Very specific, wonder why?
Significant IP filings… wonder if we applied for new patents?
On slide: GE/America Makes to 'finally start in 2nd half'? Does that mean it hasn't started at all yet? I thought they got our machines forever ago? Why haven't we seen any money from that? Can someone ask?
Ah- I mixed it up. Here is the part I was thinking of [slide 23 under 'design matters']. He also mentions the land-based gas turbines in the same presentation several slides later. I guess they're pursuing something for aviation now too if that previous article I sent you is true.
Here's the pdf….
http://www.gecapital.com/webinar-assets/pdf/3dprinting-capital.pdf
^^ Fun to note- Process Monitoring and control is super-highlighted. Also this tells you the exact number of all their machines which is nice. I haven't heard him talk about nano- additive before…. that's pretty awesome.
It had something to do with gas I think…… Are you talking about this turbine blade instead? http://3dprint.com/11266/3d-printed-lpt-ge9x-777x/
The one I saw looked like a shark fin with a bunch of little curved pipe looking things running through it…. they produced it additively so as to eliminate the multiple pieces/parts- like the holes running through it were seamlessly connected to the rest of the metal. No welds needed. It's in the pdfs of a lot of his presentations- I will look for one. He talks about it pretty much every time as an example of designing parts that are AM-specific and emphasizes how they have to think outside the box.
Happy to see a new VP for the business/sales side of things. That's big. A lot of people were talking about the need for more outsiders on the team. Also mentions we hired additional staff working specifically on Deform, and have a more firm deadline. Still maintaining the status quo on losses/revs- but because it's basically the same as it's been, I don't see it hurting us badly. We'll see I guess.
Shouldn't the Q be out? I thought it was prior to market open?
Joey's right- Morris talked all about the turbine blades when I saw him speak at Gateway in Florence last year. They redesigned them specifically for AM- there is no other way to do that particular design except by using additive. [Before it was a bunch of different parts all welded and brazed; more complex and less efficient. This is one solid thing]. I believe that's what he was talking about when he mentioned 'eliminating all this spaghetti' [see the old write up- I believe Z dug it up within the last month and re-posted. He showed several parts that had been designed for additive.]
I bet Honeywell name-dropped.
Great news for our patent…. :)
Nicely done :)
Speaking of which, I miss that guy….. idk how he managed to get banned until 2017 if all he ever did was post innocuous things on SGLB. lol. Wonder if he's floating around with a diff. identity….. anyway- I don't remember the specifics- some sort of slight change in their language that everyone seized on…. I do remember it happening- was it when PrintRite ended up being later than we'd anticipated? I think they ended up sticking to their timeline when they came out and stated it word for word, but for some reason initially we all thought it would come out sooner- if I remember right. I agree- really want to see revs this Q. Remember Mark's $150,000 contract printing rev's booked in, whatever month that conference call was…. I'm hoping that number alone has repeated itself/increased since. We do have some strategic partners listed on our site which appear to be more local-type co's who would be ordering parts- so it wouldn't surprise me if we've been booking revs from them this whole time…. one can dream, right? :) I think it will likely be a good Q since they're coming out early with it…. must be some reason for that.
Derp. Just read headline. haha. Thanks!
Does this mean we'll get the Q early?
Six times?? WOW! I must have missed that whole thing when we were moving- I would be SO HAPPY if you happen to have a link, purty please? :D
Just got goosebumps all over again…. :) Need…more…shares….
Well, last April I went and saw Morris speak at this Advanced Manufacturing show in Florence KY and did a whole big write-up about it. (I don't have a paid membership so can't search/pull up my own post, though someone else can...) but in his slide show he was talking about how GE is pioneering this stuff and actually redesigning parts specifically for AM- like they redesigned one of their turbine parts to where it no longer has a mess of 'spaghetti' like tubes with a fabricated exterior, but a streamlined interior structure with solid, additively manufactured metal construction that can only be made through the AM process. It was pretty cool. [He also had a picture of Print Rite when discussing Quality Assurance, WITH the In-Process Quality Assurance heading, as this was before Mark and Witty started defending their registered trademark…] :)
We've had a deal with GE since 2013, and with Morris Tech since a year before that. That is plenty of time to print test nozzles. I am sure they've printed hundreds in the test phase, prior to this particular engine being delivered. Whether or not we'll realize any revenue from it this quarter, or ever, is another matter, and depends on the agreement specifics and our present level of involvement-- but one way or the other, the LEAP engine being delivered most certainly has 3-D printed nozzles.
If they weren't incorporated- it wouldn't be a LEAP engine. The specs would not be the same, as the nozzles can literally only be made through AM. (Something to do with their internal geometry- creates some sort of swirling effect of fuel that's supposed to be better, more efficient/consistent burn, or something like that.)
Is anything showing on L2?
I was placing an order at .058- got a phone call and came back to find we're at .07. Guess I missed that boat. haha. Oh well.
EDIT: Sorry max- not meant as a reply. Can't seem to delete lol. Sorry!
On the one hand, this price action kind of sucks…. on the other hand, my husband FINALLY gets his moving bonus this week so I selfishly hope we stay around this level til Thurs…. :) Buying opportunity, IMO.
Maybe Bill Herman? Whoever the new accounts hire is? or some sort of new financing?
I don't follow how we're 'up against stratsys'…. or what you are trying to say with that link.
Because none of those projects really fit us…. also the only two that kind of remotely fit us, involve companies who already have PrintRite3D ®:
Oh yeah- forgot we are HOSTING THE ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING CONSORTIUM…. No big deal….. lol.
same here….. maybe tomorrow.
Someone should find the next Morris conference call and flood him with SGLB questions again like when he had to mention our name…. that worked well…. lol. [I kid. But it'd be funny.]
Except… Patents…. and the fact that the JTDA in the first place was to prove out/tweak an existing patented technology- not start from scratch together.
I don't think that would be legal. And if they tried to- Honeywell would pitch a fit unless they both had some back alley deal to screw us and share all our IP lol. I don't think that will happen now that HW has presented with us publicly and we have other connections to America Makes/DARPA/EWI/Los Alamos. It would be very bad press for GE, IMO. Not saying they couldn't risk it and just kill us dragging out a lawsuit…. but I think with as many inroads as we've made, our friends in high places would prove useful even in that kind of dire, worst-case scenario. HW have been straight-shooters so far; I really don't see them going for that or putting up with it since they bought a PrintRite (plus Deform) outright and I am sure would like the ability to purchase more without funding a competitor.
I think Jackle
I'm not sure what you mean by copy…..Like links to ampedfantasy.net or something? Sorry- just unclear. Thanks.
Latin "press release"= Lorem ipsum, dummy text from the 1500s….
[From Innovativ's site, under 'Press Releases' lol]
Let me get this straight….
Lux Digital pictures becomes Stream Track.
Stream Track buys assets of Global Gaming Network ampedfantasy names. http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20150312006441/en/StreamTrack-Enters-Rapidly-Growing-Daily-Fantasy-Sports#.VZ7gckunYjI
StreamTrack buys assets of Lux (who they were once? paying themselves?) sportsalert.com and some other stuff…. http://globenewswire.com/news-release/2015/04/27/728651/10130821/en/StreamTrack-Acquires-Daily-Fantasy-Software-and-Sportsalert-com.html
Along with some old [cough, terrible] Lux 'feature films' though I can't find that press release…. it was older, I think this winter…stock mama mentioned it….
Then, Global Gaming Network acquires Innovative, who also claims to have "acquired many of the assets of Lux Digital Pictures" including its [terrible] feature films http://www.streetinsider.com/Press+Releases/Global+Gaming+Network,+Inc.+Closes+Acquisition+of+Innovativ+Media+Group,+Inc./10707511.html
Not to mention Innovativ issues press releases in Latin- (see the 4th box, what???) http://innovativmedia.com
And also claim to own all the assets of Lux Digital Pictures…. click on 'Media Assets'. WTF is this nonsense?
Gotcha-I get it now. Good find. :)
Thanks- I knew I'd read that but wasn't sure it was still a go. So when the Add. Ind. guy says they need to incorporate post-processing into the machine, he's still talking about us? [I thought we correct problems before they happened….decreasing the need for inspection- just a little bit of CNC cleanup… or did I totally look at the wrong thing?] << entirely possible.
