One of my darkesr conjectures is based on what military has always known bad economic times for the poor and getting to poor is the best friend to increase rate of enlistment.
A move into recession leaves a lot of young in the wrong economic bracket with a sense of "what do i do now", and being wrong restless and without a future go enlist.
The military needs a strong rise in enlistment desperately.
The real power, as we know, is the shadow government the passes from administration, as Daniel Ellsberg Pentagon Papers so dramatically proved.
Their can now be top secret discussion that the powers must have enlistments rise and the only option is to have the young unemployed in significant numbers.
I have no doubt that, as was also proved as fact, by the Pentagon Papers the the U.S. Government will lie relentlessly under the protection of top secret.
Possible present case "We must keep telling public we are working hard to reduce troops in Iraq as we in fact must increase troops.But we can lie all we want because we declare that what our real intentions are is top secret and not for the masses to know"
That ramble i believe gives an outline how this "democracy"(like, forget it!) actually works.
