It is my understanding that was as Christians adopted a worship day, the day of Christ's resurrection [Sunday], vs. the Old Testament Sabbath [Saturday?].. Either way. Jesus' accomplished work on the cross which tore the veil between God and man in the temple with such earthquakes and signs recorded as resurrections from the dead [occurring after His resurrection].. seemed to totally be aligned and support Jesus' claim that HE fulfilled all of the Old Testament Law - not 'abolish it'.. but fulfilled it.. So the focus of worship of the resurrection became the Christian way, and not the adherence to a written external command of God which the Jews at the time scorned Jesus for even having a man carry his mat after being healed... [THOU SHALT NOT WORK ON THE SABBATH!!!!!!!!!!]
Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man.. not man for the Sabbath. We rest as a healthy pattern on the Sabbath.. even as our Creator rested on the Seventh day after His marvelous Creation.

Colossians 2:16-17 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
