I agree with you that it's a shame that people who make music have to struggle financially (that is, above and beyond what we all have to do to make a living). Music industry has become a sort of banana republic, a few mega rich in the midst of a sea of poverty and misery, ever since the recording industry took over the music industry. For the last forty or so years, the birthday/christmas gift to a music lover was a CD (or cassette or vinyl record before the 80's) instead of a ticket to a concert or a trip to the local jazz club, etc. that would have directly benefited the small-time musicians living amongst us. Where do the recording industry executives get their multi-million dollar paychecks? Off the backs of the small-time musicians who otherwise would have got the entertainment dollars from the communities that they are living in. It is a damn shame indeed.
