Compressed audio, is intended for portable devices, as I see it. High end home systems have no need to utilize it. In fact, there seems to be an undying "cult" following for (perish the thought) analog gear! In this day and age of pro tools and other hard drive recording, lots of musicians/engineers/producers still like to hit tape first. If the recording budget allows for it, I sure do.
