Really? Then is it morally wrong for pharmaceutical companies to make an generic copy of a drug after the government-granted monopoly has expired? Is it morally wrong to make generic copies before the monopoly expires? And what happens if the government extends this monopoly period? Or shortens it?
I hardly see how morality hinges on what arbitrary length of monopoly the government determines is socially optimal.
