I worked for NASA and wired the calibration panels for the first Lunar Lander. (the one that actually landed on the moon) Believe me, it is not automatic for these things to work even after a great deal of checks and balances. If it is made by man, it will fail. Don't take technology for granted. Look at the problems Boeing had and yes, Obamacare is a pretty good example. Look at lithium Ion batteries. Even Tesla had a car burn up because of that. How many people were killed in space missions? Did you know that the first probe to Mars crashed into mars because of a programming problem? Successful technology is not a given.
