If qualcomm wants to build a more complex cpu they will collide with some intel patents. So this is not a one-way-fight.
Intel has to pay for some lte-patents but Qualcomm will pay as well.

chip makers with decent patent portfolios typically cross license each others patents with no cash exchanged (the device makers pay the royalty) Not sure what the current arrangement is between INTC and QCOM but QCOM said recently they didn't have any major licensees coming up for negotiation.
