mlsoft,

Experience tells us though, that such is not the norm among most liberals, who are very selective in the "values" and "causes" they support, including a vapid preference for things and causes anti-american over those that support America.

anti-american? I strongly disagree with that... that seems to be the current tactic to try and discredit those who disagree with current policy. Your stereotyping just goes too far.

mlsoft and Sarals, "Liberals care about veterans. What do you think fueled the protests during the Vietnam era?... "

Nice piece of work by a Republican (who never served in the military) on a disabled Vietnam Vet.

One of their own was under fire, and they didn't like it.
About 100 members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6605 gathered one night last week just outside Robins Air Force Base to hear from Georgia's most famous Vietnam veteran, U.S. Sen. Max Cleland.

They were ticked off about two things: First, a national political action committee formed by the VFW had just endorsed Republican Saxby Chambliss, who is challenging Mr. Cleland in the Nov. 5 election. Second, Mr. Chambliss, who never served in the military, was attacking Mr. Cleland for being weak on homeland security with a TV ad featuring brief images of Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.

Mr. Cleland, a Democrat, gave them what they wanted, echoing their sense of indignation at such affronts to a man who had volunteered to go to Vietnam and, subsequently, lost three limbs in a grenade explosion in 1968.
