#129704 RE: This Causes an Error #129702

Their PC chip guys and their server guys are. Heck, even the low power CPU guys are. But the SoC teams? They haven't proven that yet - not by a long shot.

It's not like design teams are fixed by some holy power. Intel can shift design teams around at will, and put their AAA team on any project or program they want.

As for the track record of the SOC team, by which vector are you penalizing them? Is Silvermont CPU IP underperforming in your view. Do you not think Intel's recent Atom SOC uncore is reaching the necessary power levels it needs to? Or... are you still caught up in the choice of EU count and lost opportunity for graphics leadership on Bay Trail - which implies nothing about the quality of the SOC team, by the way. Nor does the execution of 7160, which is an IP from the acquired Infineon team, and also has nothing to do with the SOC team.

You are world class when you deliver products on-time and on-target and make your shareholders money.

On-time as in "when the business needs them", or on-time as in "how fast the product ramps from concept to production"? I think you are confusing the former with the latter, and the reason they didn't have Clovertrail+ in 2012 was because the program started late, due to the reset that happened with Nokia and Medfield. Besides that, there haven't been a lot of delays on the Atom roadmap. Bay Trail hit the market in 2013, same as when Intel's roadmaps from a couple of years ago said it would. We'll see if Merrifield is late, but I've been expecting Intel all along to align it with MWC. I suspect the design's been ready, and samples have been shipping to customers for some time now.
