prof, Good point about the Source (Radio Shack in Canada)....Chip indicated to me about a month ago that "he has his eye on it"... natural progression IMO....btw, don't know if this one slipped by you...

Also, just to be accurate, the word was "potato" he told a kid at a spelling bee that it had an "e" on the end. But if you want to show that a person's poor spelling does not accurately show a person's level of intelligence I am not sure Dan Quayle was your best choice. : )

Goodbye Radio Shack: Hello The Source by Circuit City
Wednesday, 27 April 2005

Circuit City Stores and InterTAN Canada today announced that by July 1, 2005, all Radio Shack stores in Canada will be re-named The Source by Circuit City.

Effective today, the companies Toronto Eaton Centre location will be the first store to fly the new banner.

The change results from a Texas court ruling in March that the RadioShack Corporation, based out of Fort Worth Texas, was within its rights to terminate its license, merchandising and advertising agreements with InterTan, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Circuit City Stores Inc.

InterTan, which is based in Barrie, Ontario, operates 980 company-owned and dealer stores in Canada and continued to license the RadioShack brand name and purchase private-label merchandise in Canada after the Tandy Corporation spun off its international operations on June 20th, 1986.

According to the ruling, after June 30, 2005, Circuit City and InterTan must stop using the RadioShack brand name in store signage, packaging, products and advertising for company-owned and dealer stores in Canada.
