#218366 RE: Garden Rose #218346

Apparently you didn't see HRC testify at the Senate hearings on Benghazi...there was no "there" there, so it's no surprise you don't know about it. Your sarcastic "Miz Hillary" aside, HRC has accomplished more than the Junior US Senator from Illinois prior to him becoming president and whom you say you voted for, AND the relatively new US Senator from MA, whom you say you would support.

It's been fun, but since you don't know what you're talking about - or just refuse to be honest - I'm done with this discussion.

Garden Rose, sad you are so partisan political, and out of touch with Clinton's approval rating among the public and journalists who, with some reservations as always with the end of every Sec. of State's tenure .. of course your reading seems rather limited so you wouldn't have read where those not as partisan as you rate Clinton's tenure as better than many others before her .. yes, those of whom i speak are not totally uncritical, but are fair .. quite the opposite of your totally dismally ultra-partisan and totally critical dismissal of her tenure ..

""one of the most respectable records of any modern secretary of state""

Drum Wrap: The (Hillary) Clinton legacy .. bit's ..

[...]

Writing in Foreign Affairs, Michael E O'Hanlon from The Brookings Institution argues Clinton has
had a solid tenure as secretary of state, marked by plenty of accomplishments and no major failures.

For her style, collegiality and work ethic, Clinton receives high marks from O'Hanlon.

She has pushed a successful "pivot" towards Asia and built on strong European relationships. Yet her often cautious approach has also meant that she was rarely imaginative in the role and "few big problems were solved on her watch".

US popularity in the Middle East has plummeted and the administration remains at a loss on solving the crisis in Syria.

O'Hanlon concludes that Clinton's time in the job was not a "historic legacy". Yet he acknowledges that Clinton leaves "one of the most respectable records of any modern secretary of state", and adds an intriguing spin on how her modest achievements as secretary of state may in fact encourage a further crack at politics with a bid for the Whitehouse in 2016:

[...]

In The New Yorker, John Cassidy also hedges his praise

[...]

Cassidy names Clinton's role as the public face of the US response to the Arab Spring and the resignation of Hosni Mubarak as two of her key achievements, adding that the death of four American diplomats in Benghazi was the "most controversial incident of her tenure".

Yet Cassidy goes on:

----
The fact that Hillary didn't bring peace to Palestine, or redefine the relationship between the United States and China, doesn't mean she was a failure. Far from it. Throughout her tenure, she was a vocal proponent of female empowerment, gay rights, and equitable economic development in poor countries. She also defended freedom of expression. Perhaps her most memorable moment was helping to secure the freedom of Chen Guangcheng, the Chinese dissident, who is now a scholar in residence at NYU ... As a "rock star diplomat", she toured tirelessly and put on good shows. Since that's what she was hired to do, it seems a bit unfair to judge her too harshly.
----

In the Los Angeles Times, Paul Richter says job approval ratings for Clinton are at stratospheric levels, suggesting that her four years as chief US diplomat could be an important asset if she runs for president in 2016.

Clinton has backed up president Barack Obama's "democratic take" on America's global role, pushing a belief that the world is no longer a place where a few powers can dictate world order:

----
Foreign audiences warmed to this attitude, which they found appealing after eight years of a George W Bush administration many associated with a go-it-alone approach.

.. with comments .. that ""democratic take"" on the global role of the USA it seems should
please you, but of course you will be negative on it, too .. lol, one of your type Benghazi
propaganda in the comments was dealt with as it deserved, as yours were on this board ..
