How do you know it has not shipped already to OEMs ? What if it is waiting for the 64-bit software which coincidentally will be a bonus to what was originally planned ? Also when you take the clockspeed of Silvermont into account it is in the same league as those other dual-cores. I am not sugar-coating anything, just writing with the sober realism that a few more decades observing this industry has given me.

Poor execution. Don't sugarcoat it. Intel has failed pretty miserably with Merrifield.

Ashraf, that may be true, but your question to mas was why Intel didn't show Merrifield at ISSCC, and he correctly responded that they only tend to show details at that conference for products which have already launched. This has been the case for many years now.

Intel's coming out party for Merrifield is most certainly MWC in a few weeks, and if you are at all disappointed with their showing there, then by all means don't sugarcoat it.

Why has Merrifield not been released yet? According to our friends at Intel, this platform was supposed to be shipping in Q4 2013...

In the phone segment, we had a good first quarter in our baseband business. We are shipping LTE versions today, and are on track to ship multimode voice and data LTE baseband solutions by the end of this year. We are winning designs with our new Clover Trail+ apps processor, where customers and third parties are highlighting both the performance and power efficiency of our architecture and are on track to ship our next-generation product, code named Merrifield, by the end of this year.

To be fair, Intel has said since early 2013, "do not expect platform announcements for Merrifield until Mobile conference Feb 2014"
