I found a lot of rhetoric about the proposed cuts, but little detail. Apparently the administration proposed that veterans who had incomes above $38,000 a year and no service related problems would have to pay an annual medical care fee of $250 plus a co-pay (how horrible - almost like the rest of us), while those making between $25,000-38,000 with no service related problems would have to pay the co-pay. They would also not pay for very expensive experimental procedures, just as is true with private medical plans.
The key is that the annual fees and co-pays for the veterans are based on income and do not affect vets with service related injuries. The rest of the cuts were directed at fraud and abuse of the system.
If that is the case, I certainly have no problem with it and it bears no resemblance to the froth and chest beating of the liberal articles (which is where I found the above) about how awful it is - these are the same people that support cutting military support at every opportunity.
