yb re: AMD still have few months to make mobile Opteron
Hector recently explicitely said "we are at least a year away from a Mobile-Athlon64.
As for Mobile market shares, I beg to differ: Mobile Bartons will make excellent competition to Centrino on competitive mobile boards and with Mobile-GPUs on the way from Nvidia and VIA. A lot will depend on Centrino-Pricing for H2 03 forward. From what I see in Europe nowadays, sensitivity on price increases a lot now. (Expect a lot of 1000 Dollar notebooks from AMD from H2/03 due to decreasing LCD-prices).
Now AMD is having products for the fastest growing segment (T&L) only since weeks and lowcost fulfeatured offers, I cannot
see share losses in mobile space at all. But share gains.
BTW same applies for Desktop. I guess many are way too much focussed on K8 revenues - which can only make the cream for this year. Look at Bread (K7) and Butter (Flash) to cover the costs from Q4 and revenues from K8 as Earnings.
Which will apply until Microsoft has Windows-AMD64 on the market. Which is still way ahead. K.
