Stifel has hiked its Synaptics (SYNA +4.5%) PT to $67 from $57, and believes the company has won the touch controller slot for Samsung's Galaxy S5 (expected to launch in mid-March).
Pac Crest reported likewise in November, while arguing Synaptics' Hover touch-free gesture gave it an edge over rivals Atmel and Cypress. Synaptics' controllers found their way into Samsung's Galaxy S4 and Note 3 last year, wins that contributed heavily to its tremendous mobile sales growth.
After talking with management, Stifel also believes Synaptics can continue racking up mobile design wins going forward. FQ2 results arrive on Jan. 23.
