dual die Woodcrest will not be competitive.

That isn't true IMO. Sure they will share a fsb but a quad-core Opteron will have to share a memory controller too. Also it will be 8MB of cache vs 4MB which is a bigger lead then 4 vs 2 on the dual-core front. AMD may pull some of this back by virtue of the shared crossbar over four cores allowing low latency communication between the cores but I will still expect the dual dual-core Woodcrest mcm to have the better increase due to greater overall cache.

Alan, dual die Woodcrest will not be competitive. They'll choke on the FSB. And I'll guess you won't see them before Q207 at the earliest.
