There are a number of folks here who think things like process technology and MPU product design cycles can change on a dime.
What comes today had critical defining decisions locked down years and years ago. When a CEO makes a statement about his company suddenly changing directions or priorities that doesn't arrive in silicon until years down the road. Those expecting 90 degree turns in the next quarter or even next year from a change in competitive situation today are like a spoiled child expecting a flying pony for their birthday.
