EP, Re: You should apply that reasoning to Opteron, a warmed over Athlon.

Other than simply being released after the Athlon, what, in particular, makes you say this?

There's been at least one recent article on this subject (Inquirer?), which concludes the opposite.

I guess SSE2 support, 1MB L2, on chip memory controller, HT links, 64-bit extensions, improved branch prediction, and completely redesigned execution units don't cut it for you? :)

thanks,

Doug

Elmer Re: You should apply that reasoning to Opteron, a warmed over Athlon

Finally -with your helpful hint- I got the clue: K8 is just K7 lithos rubbered here and there to snap in the 64-bit module taken out from Alpha and the SSE2-module taken out from P4 and some other stuff from here and there, then processed on SoI-Wafers. Ahh, naah, even more sophisticated, I forgot, warmed up before to dry the glue used.

Like what you do in the mornings? Making a Legoland policecar from a Legoland Helicopter, right?

I strongly encourage you to apply for Bill Siegles position in Sunnyvale. You are urgently needed as it took him and the other morons around him half a decade to get these easy things done properly.

K.

Great. This board has not only a lot of people with sound knowledge but provides a clown to entertain them as well. What more can you ask for a place to enjoy.
