Former Port Authority exec files lawsuit to quash subpoena in GWB probe

David Wildstein, the executive at the center of the decision to close lanes at the entrance to the George Washington Bridge, filed a lawsuit in superior court today trying to quash the legislature’s subpoena of his testimony, according to a spokesperson for the court.

The lawsuit said the subpoena is invalid for a number of reasons. Wildstein’s lawyer, Alan Zegas, questioned the validity of Wisniewski’s signature on the subpeona.

The lawsuit also questioned Wisniewski’s ability to issue a subpoena for investigative purposes and said he had a conflict of interest in the case because as a lawyer, Wisniewski allegedly represented a firm with a financial stake in Port Authority business.

Wildstein has been subpoenaed to appear on Thursday before Assemblyman John Wisniewski, D-Middlesex, and the Assembly transportation committee to answer questions about the lane closures.

As if this is the first time he's heard of this. See no evil - hear no evil eh? When this first was made public they were covering their tracks and if he really was in the dark would have asked what's going on - let's see when criminal and civil suits start how silent his staff will then be.
