This is one of those things that is very hard to explain on paper. If you were looking over my shoulder it would be quite easy.
Below is two charts. The first shows the fat fingers. The second shows the period of time between the two fat fingers.
This displays the "Shrinking" affect but it also shows how the indications don't change with the fat finger.
One of The "tricks" to remedy this is also displayed here because it simply involves comparing different views of the same chart.
Also there are different formats for viewing charts. You can make them wide, tall, etc.... In this case, making the chart Taller can help stretch out the candles and indicators making them easier to view and read...etc.... Also, displaying only the indicator you are concerned with can help the view also.
