My point was really directed to bleeding-edge process is "free" "comment and I too have no desire to rehash AMD's harassment of Intel. But R&D is a requirement to all technology companies and is therefore irrelative and Fab construction cost are integral to the gross margin determination and Intel gross margins have consistently been above 60%.

Really? Then why did Executive Vice President Henri Richard, the company's then-highest-ranking sales executive say this?

"If you look at it with an objective set of eyes, you would never buy AMD. I certainly would never buy AMD for a personal system, if I wasn't working here."

Sounds like a pretty clear admission by AMD that their products were junk.
